I won't listen to the album until its release but I'm actually feeling really intrigued as to what this album will have to offer based on the comments in here and the 'A-Yo' thread. Like, I feel I'll either really quite enjoy it or be rather disappointed yet, despite the possibility of the latter, I'm not feeling anxious at all. Maybe it's because I think I'll at least be able to appreciate what she is trying to do and why she is doing it or maybe it's because I've already accepted the days of new Gaga albums being matched with great hysteria and hype and resulting in huge chart success are long over, but it's quite a weird feeling. It's as if I'm going to be listening to a debut album instead of thinking about the glories of her past albums.

I really wanted to love this album but it's a total disaster :( How on earth did all of the amazing writers & producers get this so, so wrong?!

I'm probably saying what lots of people have said but i'm so sad that this was her big chance to 'come back' and then she released this.

Of course, as a person, we want her to release the music that she wants to and allow her to express her artistry how she chooses but I also think that as a fan that has invested time, love, money into the popstar that was Lady Gaga, I'm allowed to be selfish enough to be disappointed.

She got where she was because she enchanted the world with her outlandish outfits, eccentric behaviour and most importantly AMAZING pop songs.

For her to now say that she is ditching that persona because this is who she is now is such a blow. It's even worse knowing that she is so absolutely capable of being massive.

I know that success doesn't always equal good quality and it's not all about that but it's who she is and who she told us she wanted to be.. she lived for the fame!

Personally, I'm hoping that this is just a phase. This is obviously a very personal album to her, coming at a time when she's feeling particularly vulnerable.

I'm hoping that she just couldn't face being 'Lady Gaga' at this moment in time and is stripping it back. If that's what she was saying, I'd feel much better about this project.

If this really is who she is going to be now then I'm done with her, even though I really don't want to be because I know she is an amazing person.

It's not because the music is borderline terrible (because it is) but because we've been had. It's upsetting. It feels like she's giving up.

^ gosh that's a really upsetting read but I do get totally how you're feeling. :( the only bit I'd call you up on is the "we've been had" bit! What do you mean with that? The rest yeah I get.. I too miss the enchanting, revolutionary Gaga but I'm trying not to let it affect me negatively and just see this as another transformation back for her. Perhaps it will just be a phase where she reminisces about who she was before the fame and then returns to it at a later time.. I have no idea.

I will say though that this does seem to be a theme recently with Beyonce and Rihanna both releasing totally different albums for them as artists and it seems to be a time for popstars to experiment with sounds and not necessarily giving the public more of the same. It worked for Beyonce in a big way, it won't work for Gaga success wise but who knows what lies in wait for #LG6. Don't give up all hope just based on this album - Madonna had a few albums which weren't huge public success stories around this point in her career but she came back badder than ever after them. This is just one of hopefully many more projects to come.

Joanne rate (so far)

08 A-Yo

07 Million Reasons

06 Perfect Illusion (would be an 8 or 9 without that messy key change)

I predict sales of 5000 in UK fiest week, 20 000 total, like Studio 1.

I think it will debut around 20k and then have a similar chart run to Glory, unless she performs somewhere like the TXF...

I have been unable to get 'Sinner's Prayer' out of my head these past two days. The chorus is so catchy

Wroong.

It is bland cheese.

Listen to Ayo cos here we gooo.

This is OUT. Go buy it ~

I'll be getting a physical copy later. My full stance on the album: it is not a YASS GAGA iconic life defining album, but it's very pleasant and makes me happy when I listen to it. ;0

Let me get this in before it inevitably drops everywhere:

Those 3 downloads are rocking them chartses

3 songs in and this is like a slowed down country version of Artpop. Please tell me it's gets better...
After still only listening to Artpop of all her albums, I don't really feel I have much to say about how it compares to her three other better reviewed albums but I do actually quite like this. It is far less exciting than all of her previous output but as has been said by others, it's very cohesive which means it avoids having any complete messes of a track on the album like Swine/Donatella etc. on Artpop. I probably won't be going back to these tracks individually like how sometimes I just stick on Gypsy, Dope, Do What U Want or Artpop from the last album but if I just want a nice listening experience this is the perfect album really.

It doesn't. She has lost it.

Got this in the post today :wu: the cover is even more gorgeous in the flesh and I love the scrapbook feel to the actual disc and booklet.
