Not at all, this could be her year.

This is essentially a pop song as well really.

She's definitely more of a pop star like Katy Perry, Lady Gag etc. (having heard Oops, her other song which is like a polar opposite) but I'm not sure if people will recognise that or think it's a random dance song with a female vocal :( I hope she's big though, I agree personally that it's no different to if Katy Perry used influences from dance music that's popular at the moment tbh.

Is she an interesting new artist? I just thought it was another faceless preorder heavy dance no1?

The song is great, but as an artist she doesn't seem particularly interesting to me. I think some people just love a female singer that dances tbh.

I can't get the song out of my head though, especially the section before the hook where the bass synths come in.

The Warner label haven't allowed anything of theirs. It's a bit strange but hopefully it's just for one album or the Hits series starts up again to fill in the gaps.

Looks like this is the first appearance on iTunes for the Radio Edit of I Got U, surprised that isn't proving more popular! Considering All Around The World and Hard2Beat seemed obsessed with cutting dance songs down to 2 minutes in length between 2008-2010, I'm quite glad that the recent run of popular dance hits have all been about 4 to 4 1/2 minutes long even in their shortest available format!

I think the reason for the short radio edits was probably to help the airplay tbh. Especially songs like We No Speak Americano or Stereo Love which were quite repetitive and also lacking in vocals, so they probably thought some radio DJs wouldn't want to risk playing a 4 minute version of the song. I loved those songs, so I was fine listening to the longer versions of them, but they were probably scared those beats for 4 minutes would result in people changing radio station. I think it worked to an extent, iirc We No Speak Americano got to #2 on the airplay chart, which is pretty amazing considering how weird a song it is. And I'm sure any radio stations which were confident enough to play the longer versions would have done.

Yay, I have missed your enlightening generalisations.

Clearly people do love female singers that dance though... Where on earth do you think the popularity of people like Beyonce and Britney came from? I don't really care about that personally, but someone who does would probably watch Kiesza's video and be interested in her as an artist.

I see people on the Internet praising singers that do elaborate dance routines, and I've also seen people say that today's pop stars (like Rihanna and Katy) don't dance like the pop stars before them did, so clearly it is important to some people.

811. I Don't Like Mondays - The Boomtown Rats

Hooray for bad taste.

That's shocking. People need to show some respect.

It's not that shocking is it?

Mind you, I don't want it to reach the Top 40. The song has scared me SENSELESS since I was a kid :(

It's not that bad, don't songs related to a celebrity/celebrity death always appear when something like this happens?

I think the worst case of bad taste was several Lostprophets songs being higher than this when the whole Ian Watkins thing went down.

Well it is. It's in very poor taste at the very least.

Oh gosh, I didn't even make that connection.

That's why I said it was shocking!

That certainly was a lot worse than this, but 'I Don't Like Mondays' isn't just selling because it's related to her death, it's because of a very poor-taste joke that's been spreading around the Internet since her death ('I guess we now know why Bob Geldof doesn't like Mondays'). I actually saw that joke less than half an hour after the news broke. 'Too soon' means nothing to the Internet apparently.

Especially so if people are buying it because her death was announced on a Monday.

Close to giving up on Brave, down to #74 and all of the climbing Now songs will probably finish it off...I guess it just won't catch on in the same way as it has elsewhere.
