April 20, 201411 yr I hope they start to rack up some more top ten singles soon. Three of their last six singles have missed the top ten, which is pretty bad when they're selling 25K albums and "top ten singles" are vital for their image.

Tbf, in a world where old is no longer the trend (e.g Pixie Lott, Alexandra Burke, The Wanted, and even Tinie Tempah,Jessie J to an extent), they are probably one of the only ones from the 2008-2010 period to still have some success in the dance era of 2013-2014 . I think 12 consecutive top 20 hits still says a lot. Just thought of something. If MJ hadn't had died. Work would've debuted at #17 which would've made NGU their lowest peaking single  Edited April 20, 201411 yr by Let Go For 2nite

April 20, 201411 yr Well MJ HAD died so we can't do anything with that unfortunately (not because letting 'Work' a higher peak :kink: ) This will be their worst performing single. I really hope next time at least CAPITAL will fully get on board, and I don't think they will be ever playlisted by Radio 1. Oh well.
April 20, 201411 yr I'd put money on Radio 1 getting back on board with the next single Edited April 20, 201411 yr by Barbaric Scherzy
April 21, 201411 yr I think Radio 1 will definitely get back on board with the lead single of The Saturdays' Greatest Hits. And by on board, I mean B-listed the week on the release and out after that.
April 23, 201411 yr I'm a bit doubtful Radio 1 will support them again, if they don't playlist a single by an artist it usually means they've permanently dumped them.

Me too - I've never noticed them playlist someone if they've snubbed one of their singles. Once they stopped playing The Wanted the never played them again. The only thing that gives me a little confidence is the fact that they still play Disco Love (even today)

April 23, 201411 yr I think if the new single is pop and not dancey, Radio 1 will get back on board, especially for the lead single of a Greatest Hits from a group like The Saturdays.
April 24, 201411 yr Maroon 5 got back to the playlist, but that was after the massiveness that was 'Moves Like Jagger'. With Pitbull they are off and on with him because he isn't getting less relevant without him. So when R1 feel the song by him they play it. The Saturdays are in the category of boybands and girlbands, and there R1 are very strict usually. That's why I wrote that I didn't think they would get playlisted. As Aly said, once R1 dumps an artist it is very hard to get back to their playlist.
April 24, 201411 yr Radio 1 are usually really stubborn once they start snubbing an act though. The only way they usually get back on board is if the act hits the top 3 without them, and even then they still shun them. I'm thinking Not Giving Up will be between 78 - 82 this week. Selling around 3 - 4k. There are about 15 duplicates above them.
April 24, 201411 yr I wasn't talking about this type of getting back like 'Elephant' by Alexandra (went top-3 -> playlisted) or 'Hearbreak' by Freemasons (went top-15 and were stable -> playlisted), I was talking about genuine returns that are Maroon 5 or Pitbull. I'm guessing it will be a bit lower than that, say, 85-90. But 78 or 92 - it doesn't really matter, as long as they drop out of the top-100 for the 4th week.
April 24, 201411 yr I didn't see you're above post there - we posted at the same time, I was replying to Hurricane :) Buuuut I agree - I think if they do feature a rapper in their lead single, it might give them more of a chance of being playlisted. But It's unlikely now, they'll need to look at other elements of getting the song into the top 10/5. Strong promo and getting it (properly) playlisted on Capital and Kiss. Do you mean as long as they DON'T drop out of the top 100? This is their 3rd week. Though if they keep the 59p section up, a 4th week in the top 100 is possible, and would be decent at this point. It would be good if they could eventually get 40 - 50k sales for NGU.
