April 16, 201411 yr The top 7 has been exactly the same for 4 weeks in a row now (and 2 of the other 3 songs have also been the same for those 4 weeks). Dear Christ. Surprised but pleased at 'Sing' debuting higher than 'The A Team' ever peaked! Hope it can turn out to be a decently long-running hit.
April 16, 201411 yr To be fair, at least this week, it's a case of the digital charts actually not changing much either. Aside from Ed, there is very little movement. But, yeah, the constant same top 10 does get very boring.

I was reading one of Billboard's articles and they actually commented on this. They said in the 50+ year history of the chart it's never been this stale before (the same top 7 for 3 weeks has never happened before). There are ways they could speed up the chart, but I don't think they'll take action tbh (although they did implement a recurrent rule, so you never know). It's not even just the top tier that's static tbh. Even lower down it is. Often the highest debut on the chart is really far down the Hot 100. This is the main thing I fear about the UK charts if streaming is included. Obviously they wouldn't be THIS slow as we don't include airplay, and a lot of held-back releases make for high debuts and quick falls, but even so the UK charts could end up quite sluggish. ^ Ha, I know :w00t:. I just feel sorry for the American Jameelas tbh. lol. There's not a radio show for the Hot 100 as far as I know, but if there was, I can't imagine. :lol: I believe there is a radio show for the pop airplay chart (or something similar to it?). April 18, 201411 yr Glad to see 'Summer' seems to be becoming a proper hit! I am impressed by the longevity of Calvin's career in the USA so far. I wonder why they skipped over the release of 'Under Control' entirely though? 'Ain't It Fun' still doing so well too :o

"Counting Stars" now ties "Apologize" for OneRepublic's longest stay in the top 10. 25 weeks! As for the staleness, just look at what's in the top 5. Two of the songs (Talk Dirty and Happy) were very fast climbers and peaked in their first 10 weeks, which is unusual. Dark Horse and All Of Me had similar runs if you discount the weeks they charted before going to radio. Most of them had long gaps between their sales peak and their airplay peak. And as Robot said, they've had slow movement on the digital chart, not just this week but over the past month. I think it's an unordinary situation where five incredibly huge songs are popular at the same time.
