Great that Ed has got his highest peaking single with 'Sing'.

A typically boring, stale top 10 though. I wonder if Billboard is satisfied with the static top tier that its formula has created.

The top 10 is actually making me laugh at this stage. Oh my goodness. The #8 and #10 swapped - amazing

The top 7 has been exactly the same for 4 weeks in a row now (and 2 of the other 3 songs have also been the same for those 4 weeks). Dear Christ.

Surprised but pleased at 'Sing' debuting higher than 'The A Team' ever peaked! Hope it can turn out to be a decently long-running hit.

To be fair, at least this week, it's a case of the digital charts actually not changing much either. Aside from Ed, there is very little movement. But, yeah, the constant same top 10 does get very boring.

I was reading one of Billboard's articles and they actually commented on this. They said in the 50+ year history of the chart it's never been this stale before (the same top 7 for 3 weeks has never happened before).

There are ways they could speed up the chart, but I don't think they'll take action tbh (although they did implement a recurrent rule, so you never know).

It's not even just the top tier that's static tbh. Even lower down it is. Often the highest debut on the chart is really far down the Hot 100.

This is the main thing I fear about the UK charts if streaming is included. Obviously they wouldn't be THIS slow as we don't include airplay, and a lot of held-back releases make for high debuts and quick falls, but even so the UK charts could end up quite sluggish.

^ Ha, I know :w00t:. I just feel sorry for the American Jameelas tbh.

lol. There's not a radio show for the Hot 100 as far as I know, but if there was, I can't imagine.

I believe there is a radio show for the pop airplay chart (or something similar to it?). The pop chart isn't as slow as the overall Hot 100, but it's still not exactly the most exciting chart.

Chart Highlights

Top 7 static for 3rd week in a row - first time in chart's 55-year history.

Top 5 static for a month.

And if you take out DJ Snake, the other 9 songs in the Top 10 have been there for a month also.

#95 for Bastille's 'Bad Blood'. Very surprised to see it doing anything at all. Perhaps it could be their 'Lights'.

And 'Feelin' Myself' finally cracks the Hot 100!

That is more like it from 'Latch' :D Hopefully top 75 next week.

20 15 Clean Bandit featuring Jess Glynne - Rather Be

They don't seem to be having the success that Naughty Boy and Disclosure have had.

In fairness, if Naughty Boy and Disclosure are anything to go by, they'll probably have to wait until 2015

Does anyone have Dark Horse's US Hot 100 chart run? :)

Glad to see 'Summer' seems to be becoming a proper hit! I am impressed by the longevity of Calvin's career in the USA so far. I wonder why they skipped over the release of 'Under Control' entirely though?

'Ain't It Fun' still doing so well too :o

Calvin skips a lot of singles to be honest, he seems to release every second one in general! He skipped 'Bounce', 'Let's Go', 'We'll Be Coming Back' and ... that Tinie one last era too.

Reduced price on iTunes last time I checked!

"Counting Stars" now ties "Apologize" for OneRepublic's longest stay in the top 10. 25 weeks!

As for the staleness, just look at what's in the top 5. Two of the songs (Talk Dirty and Happy) were very fast climbers and peaked in their first 10 weeks, which is unusual. Dark Horse and All Of Me had similar runs if you discount the weeks they charted before going to radio. Most of them had long gaps between their sales peak and their airplay peak. And as Robot said, they've had slow movement on the digital chart, not just this week but over the past month. I think it's an unordinary situation where five incredibly huge songs are popular at the same time.
