Oh thanks Jameela for talking over the EPIC last chorus of 'Starships', still an absolute favourite of mine.

Glee could never.

'Don't Stop Believing' will always remind me of just turning eighteen and going out (legally) drinking.

The Glee version is horrendous though :puke2: , as are most of their covers.

Naughty Boy ft. Sam Smith "La La La" Sales: 988,500 (approx)

Should pass the million in the next month or so..

Just 1 more record to go then it's the million sellers.

Latch >>>>>

Naughty Boy's position here matching its peak on the Hot 100 as of this week #randomobservation. La La La sums up summer 2013 (along with other songs in that vicinity).
A sign of the sales climates more than the popularity though.

I've always thought there must be some formula for these things that could even it out... something along the lines of taking the sales figure for the number 20 of the year to work out the relative ratio and then applying the ratio back to even out the eras.

Gah, that was such a geek post.

Its a great idea, being a major geeky poster like wot i am, but problems with trickle sellers would crop up. Journey, that fairly obscure minor hit of the 80's, is now famous and a huge seller. Bizarre! One can only hope that Toxic or some other great low-sellers come back in decades to come and sell. Assuming downloads are still selling...fingers-crossed!

Me, I like big hits for the most part (that's genuine hits, not records necessarily peaking artificially at number one while remaining pretty much minority interest), always have, and hopefully, always will.

La La La killin it  bit of a shame Sam Smith's solo singles haven't really lived up to this or the amazing Latch (yet)

I miss when GaGa was good.

Bad Romance must have had a few physical sales too then?

Not too many, I'd estimate around ~15-20K. I have it on CD single. I used to buy all my personal chart #1s on physical..

Bad Romance  she was really at 'the peak of her powers' there~

oh Firework. what a comedown

I meant that Bad Romance has been announced as million seller whilst Firework has not, so there must be fair bit of physical sales to make that accurate,

#29 'FIREWORK' Katy Perry

I always thought this was one of her weaker singles but it does contain the classic thought provoking line "Do you ever feel like a plastic bag?".

Exactly, but "Firework" is on 998K and will be announced a million seller within a fortnight. :P
