'Misery' is decent. The reaction to it seems to be massively positive so far but I think it's probably the weakest out of the 3 we have heard personally. Still very good though.

Agreed.

It's weak, but at least it's got her stamp all over it.

'Make Me Like You' hasn't had lasting appeal for me. :( I still give it the occasional listen though.

So all her creativity went into Hollaback Gurl, Rich Gurl and her opus What You Waiting For? then.,

Everything else has been kinda crap.

Decent: Cool. 4am, Early Winter.

Her creativity basically went 90% into the first song though XD

A massively patchy, if not poor effort, if I'm honest. I never actually listened to her albums back in the day despite loving the singles, were they always this bad? There isn't really anything to massively write home about at all apart from one or two that are reasonably fun. I feel like the whole thing is way too formulaic too: it's like she sat down and was like "we need half of it to show how vulnerable I am and the other half to capture the Gwen single vibe from '06" but it is just done so obviously that it means that half of the album becomes dull and predictable and the other becomes generic and almost tiring with the relentless "look how fun I am". There is no nuance.

The Japanese bonus War Paint is easily the best song from this era, so of course it's only a Japanese bonus :drama:
Where Would I Be? is the only properly good album track. And Misery if we don't count that as a single. I didn't really have high expectations so four really decent songs isn't a bad takeaway. Plus Red Flag is pure guilty pleasure. :D
I guess I'm the only one here who is properly loving this album then, haha.
I'm quite enjoying the album. It's not the best thing ever and it certainly isn't here best (doubt she'll ever beat LAMB) but it is decent and it's lovely to hear from Gwen again. I don't mind that she hasn't really moved on musically because I guess I haven't either.

nothing like a bonus japanese deluxe album track being the highlight of a record!!!

I quite liked it overall, though these songs could have all come from the writing sessions of the previous two albums. There's a distinct mid 00s whiff to the album.

The singles plus Where Would I Be, Red Flag, Me Without You and War Paint are all keepers for me, as above I'm not entirely sure why the latter is wasted a Japanese deluxe bonus track...
