As if the first series didn't show us enough already, I think that last scene really showed how much of a psycho Tommy is! I wonder how he got involved with Frances. Surely with them saying they'll find out who has been visiting him in prison regularly will mean they will be able to find out about Frances and that she has been teaching Ryan.

Gosh this really is the best thing on TV at the moment by an utter mile!

Absolutely incredible thrilling drama with fantastic acting

I could be completely wrong but I have a theory that

the bunny boiler who is now probably dead was the girlfriend who made Clare's friend depressed and their life hell after their affair

You got it!

Thought this one was a bit of a slower episode compared to the past ones, think it's setting us up for big finale rather than having two big events happen in Ep 4 & 6 like in series one. Is it bad that I'm rooting for John (the affair/murderer guy) to not get caught cause Vicky was such a horrible piece of work?

I'm rooting for John as well! Why has his wife suddenly felt the need to throw him out when it was she was having an affair (I thought she doesn't know about Vicky)?

I'm really enjoying this series again. It's not quite as fast paced as the first, but I'd say it's equally as good for different reasons. I also think they'll be setting up for a BIG series finale! Surely Neil will be next in line to be accused for the murders once Catherine finds out about his connection to Vicky?

I'm also half-expecting Ann Gallagher to be revealed as the murderer for the shock factor but also they've been building up a darker side to her personality this week. It could also potentially be the farmer guy who got arrested - there was some conveniently located rope in his car boot and he's also shown a violent side to himself

.

I agree that less events have happened these passed two episodes but I still feel just as gripped because it definitely seems they're gearing up to a huge finale. Plus, the character developments/character-focused scenes are interesting enough to keep my attention.

I'm struggling to think of a plausible motive, but a few things could actually point to this theory: one being

back in the first episode where Catherine made a point of saying it could be a woman who was responsible for the murders after Ann suggested it was a guy; another being, in last night's episode, when they were talking about DNA found in the white van and this van found in certain places etc., obviously this van will have been present at Nevison's company and therefore available to Ann to use; and finally the mystery as to why Ann has started drinking again.

Then there's other little things I pick up on, but I still don't see what motive there would be.

I was hoping for more from Frances this week but I guess it's all being saved for a BIG finale next week. I hope so anyway!
So one of my two predictions for the killer was correct then - yay! Another fantastic episode and that ending... :o I hope John manages to get away with it, but I worry he might somehow get blamed for all the murders.

I have to say I've got no idea what to expect from the finale!

I really want John to get caught for his murder as they kept picking up on how Vicky's was different to the other 4 that and the way the character behaved before the latest victim was found made me hate the character

Can't wait to see what happens next week :cheer:

I'd suspected him as the killer - but that ending was totally unexpected - it was very 'Of Mice and Men' like! This series - the whole ensemble cast is fabulous. I think the casting of Sarah and Siobhan is terrific - they even look like sisters.

Its programs like this that make you appreciate the BBC.

I'm hoping Frances turns completely psycho in the last episode, if anything she scares me more than Tommy! Not entirely convinced yet that Daryl is definitely the killer, I feel like that story has come to an end too soon, maybe Neil is still in the picture? And nothing's really been tied up with the whole Knezivic storyline which intrigues me.

Precisley what I thought!

I'm becoming more and more convinced that Ann is the killer.

That ending made the hairs on my arm stand. Chilling :o

Surely we're gonna get a third season? It's just too good to end

The writers and all the the other actors except Sarah Lancashire want to do a third series. She feels she's had enough now. :(

omg when did she say that?!

I'm starting to have doubts as well. I'm thinking by telling his mother he'd 'done something bad' he meant he'd been with the prostitutes - not that he'd killed anyone. I'm starting to wonder about Claire's boyfriend as well - when he said he knew when he'd be on a bender - he'd book three days off as leave from work (I'm sure not long before this - there was something said that the latest victim had been killed sometime within the last three days). Or maybe I'm just off track!

But his mum said to him something along the lines of "those girls, was that you" and he confirmed?

I still have a suspicion that line could have been about him answering yes to sleeping with them but not killing them. Anyway I could be completely wrong!

Incredible finale! I loved John's final scenes and those at the start regarding Alison's attempted suicide. Superb acting from all involved and of course impeccable writing from Sally Wainwright. Seems like there is a possibility that there will be a third series which I'll greatly accept if it is of the same standard.

Seems a few people were disappointed with the finale, but I say they just don't have the intelligence or attention span to enjoy character-driven speaking scenes and would only have been satisfied if the whole valley blew up.

It would've been predictable to have an action based finale like last time. I thought this finale was beautifully written, well acted and extremely chilling in parts. Especially the end scene with Catherine contemplating whether Ryan could ever grow up bad like Daryl and Tommy, and whether she could put him out like Alison did. Even more chilling when you compare it to the first scene of the series about Catherine putting out that sheep.

I'd love to see a third series, but only with the right storyline (which I'm sure Sally Wainwright would pull off again).
