I'd like to see the incredibly catchy Dangerous Love reach #1. Shame it has Sam Smith and Lana to contend with.. Even though the Lana song is amazing too, sadly Stay With Me will probably be #1 :( :(

i think West Coast might only go top 20 at a push (and will probably drop off quickly if R1 don't playlist it), i can see Clean Bandit and (unfortunately) Afrojack charting higher that week

still, i also hope Dangerous Love can get #1 over Stay With Me <3

there's no point in hoping though. Sam Smith is this year's EMELI SANDÉ :( Except he's actually getting solo #1 singles.
I don't think Fuse ODG can be ruled out for #1, he's been consistently not far behind Sam Smith on pre-orders and I'm sure he's even been ahead at times. Of course with a few weeks still to go until release the situation will probably become clearer soon. By which I mean it will become clear that Jedward will steamroll over faves and get their first #1 that week.
They should move the "Problem" release date forward to this Sunday, next Sunday at the latest.
That Ariana Grande track would've been No1 this week with sales of over 100k, so I'm not sure what holding it back until July will achieve?!

I have to say, I had thought the comparisons were slightly unfounded previously but I happened upon the 'Stay With Me' video today and got very strong 'Next To Me' vibes, albeit more from the way he's being marketed but also from the song itself. I really can't see him having anything near her level of mass MOR appeal though - maybe a double platinum album if things go to plan.

I get the feeling Ariana's label are gonna fluff it up and going to release it early (i.e. Thursday or Friday) for some reason :( Hopefully they know what they're doing and if they want an earlier release, release it on Sunday!

EDIT: I wish Ella Eyre would hurry up and release her first proper single, show Sam Smith a thing or two :(

I'd have been surprised if that happened, I think she would've gone top 5 on iTunes and probably just inside the top 10 officially but I definitely don't think Ariana would've managed anywhere near 100,000 sales this week.

I think that might just be a *teensy* bit of an exaggeration considering we're talking about someone who has never made the top 40 before... :P The only acts who could shift 100k in a week with an OA/OS track are the likes of Rihanna and Adele (and Gaga when she was still popular), Ariana will only get sales close to that big with a held back release.

If Ariana releases on this Sunday it would probably go to #1 cause it's a quiet week..

Maybe.....

I really think Ariana's fanbase is being overestimated here. 'The Way' didn't go top 10 on UK iTunes, I can't see this one suddenly going to #1 if it was released next week even though 'Problem' does have more internet buzz around it. I can see this release being like 'Heart Attack' or 'Come & Get It', and peaking top 3 like 'Heart Attack' as long as it gets radio support which isn't guaranteed.
The best thing to do with this track would probably be to just hold it back a couple of weeks like they did with 'Call Me Maybe'. She's nowhere near an established enough name to pull off a big proper OA/OS hit but at the same time it's probably going to be damaged by having a very long wait especially if it keeps up its success elsewhere.
I agree, a 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together' type release strategy (I think that was released here 2 weeks after its premiere) would probably be the best idea for 'Problem'. However if the pre-order falls outside the top 500 or something in a few days then that would suggest it needs holding back longer until it has at least some radio support.
pre-order update

26. Problem (feat. Iggy Azalea) - Ariana Grande

ugh, how on earth did that get quite high.

ugh, how on earth did that get quite high.

Because people are buying it more than any song below it :heehee:

So happy Ariana's doing well on pre-orders, fingers crossed it can make the top 10 when released! :D

Have you heard it Mikey? :o

"I've got one less problem without you" :(
