To be fair, I don't think the vast majority of people will bat an eyelid at the marginal price difference between cherry picking tracks of Coldplay's album and buying the whole thing. I'll be gobsmacked if it makes a huge difference!

There was a Take That album once where it was cheaper to download the tracks individually, but I don't remember any extreme levels of cherry-picking going on with it.

If you're referring to the re-release of 'Progress', the new album tracks did all go fairly high on iTunes. Only for a day or so, mind.

I guess it also depends on whether it's an album that's big digitally or one which will sell mainly physicals (where there isn't the option to cherrypick).

Wondering how Katy Perry will do with "Birthday". Watched the video earlier, thought it was brilliant, but the song itself is a bit meh. Thought it'd have picked up a bit already.

It's doing perfectly fine, it hasn't even been playlisted by R1 yet and is already nearly top 40.

The Coldplay album is only 10p more as a whole anyway. I doubt it'll make that much difference, I know we're still in tough times but not that tough!

Re: Coldplay, I think there may be a proportion of casual fans who'd be put off buying the album considering there's only nine tracks for £9. Visually, the tracklist looks lacking for that amount of money. Mightn't make a huge obvious difference but I could see a situation whereby a few album tracks hang around in the hundreds (and the singles hold up well) for a good while after the album's release.
