May 24, 201411 yr Bit too predictable that Corrie would scoop nearly the lot. Not as if they deserve them at all :drama: Honestly some of the most boring soap episodes I've seen. YAY for Danny Mac winning Sexiest Male though, thoroughly deserved *.*
May 24, 201411 yr Hollyoaks as best soap is... interesting. Happy for Anna Passey mind. Edited May 24, 201411 yr by Jark
May 24, 201411 yr I think Stuart Blackman (is that even his name) has ruined Coronation Street over the last year , it's went from one of the best soaps to the most boring. Hollyoaks deserves this though, they really did!
May 24, 201411 yr Author Oh dear at Eastenders only winning one award! Suppose it does reflect the quality of the soap in general over the last year, I'm sure they'll win loads next year. A lot of Corrie wins in regards to Hayley's cancer, was to be expected but they shouldn't have completely dominated really. The highlight by far is Hollyoaks winning Best Soap - did not see that coming at all!! Definitely deserved though and I'm really pleased for that.
May 24, 201411 yr Anna Passey winning the villain award  Completely deserved, she's an astounding actress. Julie Hesmondhalgh was fab but it was too predictable that she would win best actress, I'd have loved Steph Davis personally but I knew that wasn't happening! And I didn't think David Nielsen should have won Best Actor at all. He's good, but it should have been Kieron Richardson or Jeremy Sheffield (I think it was those two up for it) imo. As much as I loved Hayley's cancer storyline and cried at the final scenes, I don't think that alone meant Corrie should have won 9 awards, as aside from that the soap's been pretty awful for the last year, but I guess that storyline did deserve a few awards. Then again Hollyoaks was the only really impressive soap this year - Sienna's storylines, Sinead throughout Katy's death, the explosion and the domestic violence storyline were/are all stellar! They throughouly deserved all their awards, especially best soap, although sexiest male was hotly contested :P Yeah, teensy bit biased towards Hollyoaks :P

May 25, 201411 yr Author -_-Eastenders won nothing last year except Ian Beales award Well the show was pretty bad that year too! :P I'm sure EE will dominate at 2015's BSA, it's pretty much a given they'll be up for Best Single Episode with their 30th anniversary episode. Just realised that Best Exit has been scrapped. :( Not like they were short of them this year - Michael Moon and Tanya Branning in EE, Hayley Cropper (obvs) in Corrie, Gemma Andrews, Cameron Murray and Gennie Walker in Emmerdale and Will Savage and any of the deaths in the explosion for Hollyoaks.
May 25, 201411 yr Author Kirsty Branning for Best Exit :) Was tempted to put that! :P I did enjoy it and I think Kierston Wareing kind of deserved an award since she's a great actress who has had terrible storylines on EE. :(
May 25, 201411 yr I can't with who won Best Soap. Literally burst out laughing when it was announced
May 25, 201411 yr Author I LOVED the reactions of the cast of Hollyoaks when it was revealed they won Best Soap! Gemma Bissix (Clare) and Tamara Wall (Grace) in particular with their "OMG!!11!!1" :P I like how even David Neilson (Roy) and Julie Hesmondhalgh (Hayley) got bored of repeatedly standing up for awards, but they were very funny in their speeches so it wasn't so tiresome. I can see why David won Best Actor now as his character on-screen and off-screen differ a lot.
May 26, 201411 yr I can't with who won Best Soap. Literally burst out laughing when it was announced  Why? The views towards Hollyoaks irritates me. It's nowhere near as focused on the teens as previously and they work harder than any other soap imo and are constantly the only soap where I find myself shocked on a daily basis.
May 26, 201411 yr I do not watch Hollyoaks but i was delighted for them, either EastEnders and Coronation Street win every year so it was a great surprise and you could see the cast from EastEnders and Coronation Street were delighted for them. It does show the Emmerdale cast that it can be done. I was disappointed with the outcome for EastEnders but before the show i felt it would be next year before EastEnders would pick up awards. The Roy and Hayley storyline was overly awarded and the Emmerdale siege with Cameron etc and the storyline in general was under awarded. Simon Gregson has done funny scenes in the past but i did not feel he deserved the award this year. It is what it is, i always enjoy the soap awards and i hope EastEnders is back with a bang next year in winning and keep their record of winning the most awards over the years.

There might be copious amounts of death in it but at least they manage to shock and surprise and there's always something going on so that I'm usually on the edge of my seat for the next episode, whereas most other soaps just manage that once in a while. I've found Eastenders and Corrie to be pretty poor this year, each soap only really has Lucy's murder and Hayley's death respectively as a saving grace, they've both had many pointless storylines imo. Emmerdale has been quite good actually, it's a shame they didn't win more awards, Laura Norton (Kerry) certainly should have won the comedy performance award!
May 26, 201411 yr Author Emmerdale has been quite good actually, it's a shame they didn't win more awards, Laura Norton (Kerry) certainly should have won the comedy performance award! Could not agree more! Kerry has been much funnier than Steve I think and it would have been one less award for Corrie which is one they could have sacrificed to be honest. I'm more than pleased Hollyoaks won Best Soap as they've certainly been the ones to tackle the more serious storylines. It's a shame the category of Best Storyline is limited to just one from each soap as I think the Maxine/Patrick story should have got some recognition in it's own right (I suppose the two characters got Best Actor/Actress nominations) as that's encouraged a lot of people in that situation to come forward. I think the Best Dramatic Performance award could have gone to someone else other than David Neilson, either Lindsey (Carol, EE) or Stephanie (Sinead, HO) perhaps.

Best dramatic performance should have been Stephanie Davis hands down. I can't believe the stick she gets, since Katy's death (especially the actual death episode and the funeral week) she's been incredible. Agree about Steve too. He has his moments but even Tracey, Beth and especially Sally and Deirdre are funnier in Corrie so he shouldn't have been nominated even imo....
May 26, 201411 yr Dramatic performance from Carol?! She's done nothing but sit and moan about how shit her life is for as long as I can remember.

I still find it hard to believe that Stephanie Davis is this girl  XNMwEIi7Toc
May 26, 201411 yr Author Why can she hit every note apart from one? :P -x- Just occurred to me, why was Helen Worth (Gail) sat with the Emmerdale cast?
