I suppose if Alex was so dead against it, we should have all seen the landslide coming!

R.I.P. Eurovision (24.05.1956 - 10.05.2014)

So I take it we won't be seeing you in here anymore then? :D

R.I.P. Eurovision (24.05.1956 - 10.05.2014)

I suppose you ARE from Russia and have the same mind as Putin.

So random that Alcazar and Helene Fischer were among the spokespeople, since when were three people allowed to give the votes!? And I hope Helene might consider participating in the future!

Throw in Sanna and Molly being contestants and everyone in my YTD top five apart from Clean Bandit had a part in Eurovision

And I hope Helene might consider participating in the future!

She's said she'll consider it, so that's 16th place in 2016 pencilled in.

Excellent :D

And although she's best known for her schlager, I expect they'd give her a big ballad to sing, or something with fairly modern production like Atemlos Durch Die Nacht, which could have gone top 10 with an English translation.

I agree, it's not advantaging us being heard just the once and it would look fairer - this year only Spain of the big 5 beat the UK the others did badly.

I'm sorry, but this is a crock of shit. France and Germany were not disadvantaged here. They quite rightfully did poorly because they were very very poor songs.

Over the past 5 years at least one member of the big5 each year has proven that it is perfectly possible to do exceedingly well. Look at 2011 for example. We came 11th, Germany took 10th, and then Italy somehow came 2nd! If you send a poor track (HI France & Germany) you will do poorly.

If we'd gone through the Semi's I doubt we'd have done any better at all. As much as I loved Molly's track there's nothing that suggests to me hearing it in full a second time would improve her result. This years top 2 were both semi winners. Those songs didn't need a second airing to win over the voters, they slayed first time round.

I am incredibly proud of the British entry. Sure it would have been nicer to do better but more important for me was that it was a sign that the BBC is starting to give a shit again. Tonight, Europe saw us actually care about this contest. The past two years we've quite blatantly not given a f*** and it's showed.

We're not going to win every year, but if we stay on this path will we stand a good chance of doing well in the future and we will provide a space for some great unsigned artist to get exposure to over 180m viewers.

Instead of being disappointed, we should all be excited and hopeful. We're on a path that could bring us back to nation finals *.*

R.I.P. Eurovision (24.05.1956 - 10.05.2014)

This is 2014... Eurovision is possibly the gayest spectacle on earth, I have no idea how people are so surprised or disgustedthat a drag queen with a huge dramatic ballad can win the contest.

I know you haven't said specifically you're against the fact Conchita is a drag queen, but given the song is the same kind of James. Bond style soundtrack style song as Maybe by Valentina Monetta yet much more dramatic and powerful that's most definitely the explicit implication.

HOW did you not ditch Eurovision in 1998 then? A transsexual won for christ's sake.

Don't snub the other girl Rich, that's so rude of you

Listening to that song literally just as I read your post there!

So gutted for Poland, it really did deserve a top10 and not just for the staging!

Rewatching the whole show now as I missed large chunks between the performances and voting due to being at a house party. I LOVE how the whole crowd is singing along to Undo with Sanna! She really was as epic as I knew she would be when she finally made it to the Eurovision stage. Thank GOD she won Melodifestivalen

The advantage is always going to marginal, a second hearing is hardly going to suddenly win out of it, but it might be enough to get onto the countries points tables as opposed to just missing on points completely. Plus those shaky UK final performances might be less shaky with a previous go at it. Unless you're of the opinion that all you need is one hearing to ever judge a song/record correctly (which I'm not) then I would suggest that multiple hearings throw up growers. Why else do Buzzjack voters play entries more than once.....?

Certainly, however, of far less importance than the "expert" panels which need seriously dumping for skewing the actual popularity of songs in the contest (eg in 2011 we didn't come 11th, we came 4th or 5th. In the popular vote. In peoples minds the UK failed, in reality the Uk did well)

Conchita has got lots of coverage in France today, way more than what winners usually get. As a result she managed to go top10 on iTunes (and close to the top5 combined) ! Won't hold its position but it's a pretty amazing outcome here (France don't give a shit about the Eurovision  ).

Ruth Lorenzo is HILARIOUS in Spanish, she waves her fingers, has a proper attitude and has like the black American women culture's body movements. She's zazzy! She was wagging her finger about Mollie not doing well, who was her favourite. If anyone can find the video I'll translate. Didn't realise she had a Murcian accent either  .

Spain's reaction to not getting votes from Portugal made my food-poisoned NIGHT! The country honestly thought they were going to win too!

Not surprised by the results, I was pretty right with mine after all eh, Cassandra, Greek prophet of the future!!

We were robbed, that song is so good, all the people here were commenting on it being amazing, but also that they HADN'T HEARD ANYTHING FROM THE UK pre that LAST SPOT performance! If we want to do well, we need to advertise, like Ruth did!

I can't see us ever winning with countries like Belatrus always voting for Russia. Would they ever vote for America's no.1 ally? Did ya see the Belarus' woman's face when they got booed for giving Russia points? LOL!

(France don't give a shit about the Eurovision  ).

You don;t say!

What's with their novelty acts? They jackin our swagga!

Uh, you weren't at all? Last time I checked the only Big Five entrant in that bottom five was France.

My predictions were the closest on the site though...?
