As we've seen before, unfortunately the Eurovision entries tend to start falling down by Tuesday. I expect Molly should just about make top 20 next Sunday.

"Calm After The Storm" deserves a Top 10 place everywhere. It has grown on me. Quality 100%!

As if No Prejudice is #39, by far my worst from Last nights Eurovision!

the Iceland entry was definitely a talking point in our house, but it wasn't in a good way (they kept getting compared to Power Rangers/The Wiggles/The Teletubbies! :lol:) Not sure why it's doing so well tbh

The Wiggles is definitely a good call! I was thinking they reminded me of someone :P It was a fairly decent song though not a highlight, pleased to see it doing well if only because I love Icelandic people doing well in general.

Might tune in to the Capital chart just to hear The Common Linnets! Their success is astounding to me, it's not the sort of song that would soar into the top five at the best of times, let alone having come from Eurovision!

 

There hasn't been a country hit like this here for a long time, the closest thing to this is Need You Now by Lady Antebellum but that's a lot more produced and 'anthemic', this is such a mellow and subtle song.

Iceland's was catchy and had enough novelty about it to get noticed. I'd say it's fairly widely appealing too, especially to the stereotypical British person watching Eurovision.

 

Incredibly pleased to see The Common Linnets doing so well, it's the last song I'd ever expect to become a huge hit, but it was performed so wonderfully last night, so seeing it taking off is very cool.

Iceland's song was great! Cliche Love Song was by far one of the worst though, don't understand how that's so high, horrible Bruno Mars rip-off.

Eurovision is the rare time I do loon. I mean Sanna Nielsen is close to the top 20 on UK iTunes, I'm going crazy at the mere sight of this legend finally getting some appreciation outside Sweden!

 

I think Common Linnets will be about #60-70 officially this week and climb into the top 10/15 next week. Doubt the album will do as well as that as there'll be no physical, but top 40 would be incredible.

I understand a Bruno Mars-esque song doing well but really surprised at being one of the high*est*. Thought FireLight might have been where it is as it was a bit of a Mumford & Sons ripoff which I thought the UK would appreciate more than a Bruno ripoff. (Then, we did give Malta 10 points, so I'm not totally wrong :P)

Eurovision ratings were up 1.5m on the year before. The bad weather and BGT not clashing with it at all seems to have really helped, which probably explains the increase in sales this year.
