A Million Love Songs is a song i believed would make the top 10, it was not far off in the end.

ive always had a soft spot for a million love songs.

It is a song that has aged extremely well, it is a song that appears to still sell although in low numbers and Gary himself seems to have a lot of affection for the song.

Now kicking off the top 10 is Take That's "Shine" released as the 2nd single from they're comeback album "Beautiful World" released in February 2007 and continued the band's run of 6 consective #1 singles and 10th overall, the single went on to win the British Single of the year at the 2008 Brit Awards. The live version of "Shine" performed during their Beautiful World tour in 2007 featured an intro that was taken from the final to the song "Mr Blue Sky" by "ELO" and this was again done in the other tours that followed. The song is sampled in Lily Allen's 2009 song "Who'd Have Known", which in turn is sampled in T-Pain's 2011 single "5 O'Clock". Worldwide the track hit #2 in Ireland, top 10 in Italy, Belgium and Denmark and top 20 in the Netherlands, and top 40 in Germany, Austria, Swiss, Russia and Hungary.

Shine is a great song, wonderful follow up to Patience and yet so different,the styles are not the same. It is good it made the top 10 here.

At #9 is Take That's comeback single "Patience" released in November 2006 and first taken from they're comeback album "Beautiful World" which of course topped the UK charts in it's 2nd week after entering at #4 and stayed on top for 4 weeks, and became the 8th best selling UK single of that year and spent 11 weeks in the top 10, they're longest run until "Rule The World", and of course again the group won another Brit Award for Best British Single of 2007 and it was even voted record of the year. Worldwide "Patience" became another smash hit hitting #1 in Germany, Spain and Switzerland, #2 in Ireland, Belgium and Italy, top 10 in Austria, Denmark and Sweden and top peaks in Netherlands and Norway, and top 30 in Canada and #29 in Australia they're final charting hit over there to date.

8. Take That - The Flood = Avg: 9.571

 

At #8 is Take That's "The Flood", released in November 2010 as the lead single from they're 6th studio album "Progress" and first to feature the return of Robbie Williams since he left in 1995. Of course the track became a huge success and gathered rave reviews from critics and even Elton John. This also the final single from the Progress era to drop out of this countdown following (Love, Love #17, Kidz #32, Happy Now #34 and When We Were Young #35) The track hit #2 in the UK charts and became a massive worldwide hit as well charting in 20 countries worldwide. Topping the charts in Croatia, Hong Kong, Indonesia and Portugal, as well as top 5 positions in Italy, Scotland, Belgium, Ireland, Netherlands, Norway, Denmark and Sweden, top 10 in Swiss, South Korea and Taiwan, top 20 in Germany, Austria and Hungary and top 40 in Czech Republic, Finland and France.

The Flood beating Patience comes as bit of a shock to me, I certainly would not have predicted that, that said, I do slightly prefer the Flood so it is a happy shock.

At #7 is Take That's "Pray" which became the group's first UK #1 single. Just outside the top 5 is another Iconic Take That single "Greatest Day" released in November 2008 and taken as the lead single from the "Circus" album and also the final one from that era to drop out of this rate following (Said It All #20, Up All Night #21 & The Garden #27). Written by Gary Barlow and stated by him that it took him 3-4 hours to write this song and became the band's 11th UK #1 single and as promotion they performed this song on the MTV Europe Music Awards, they're first time on that show and they sung it live on Children In Need of the same year as well. Worldwide it was quite successful reaching #2 in Ireland and top 10 in Hungary, top 40 in Germany, Denmark and the Netherlands.

Right now only 5 songs left, 3 Take That songs and 2 Gary Barlow singles who do u think will come out on top

I would be hugely surprised if Take That do not come out on top. Greatest Day is slightly higher than i would like, that said, the song has had wide appeal through different uses.

I'm pleasantly surprised that there are 2 Gary songs in the top 5!

 

Rule the World will probably come out top

Gary solo has done wonderfully well in this voting, i did not expect that, Rule the World is the likely winner, and if so, i would be happy with that. A huge hit, that continues to sell and regularly appears in the download charts and is approaching its millionth sale would be a very worthy winner in my eyes.

5. Gary Barlow - Open Road = Avg: 9.75

 

At #5 is the title track from Gary's debut album "Open Road" released in October 1997 as the 4th and final UK single from that album and peaked at #7, faring better than the previous single "So Help Me Girl" which missed the top 10 peaking at #11 and was considered his last successful single until the 2010 release of "Shame". After this single was released Gary began the process of making his 2nd album, and "Open Road" is Gary's fave track from the album. Worldiwde the track charted at #2 in Lativa and #11 in Japan. But didn't fare so well in Ireland charting at #29 lower than previous singles and his last to chart over there until 2010 and peaked at #63 in Germany faring better than "SHMG", and one more single from the album was released over there as well "Hang On In There Baby" which peaked at #78 and featured Rosie Gaines on the American release but did nothing over there.
