May 18, 201411 yr Author 10 of the songs in the 76-100 section this week are new entries to the top 100! Mostly by new artists to the chart as well (largely due to Eurovision of course, but Molly Kate Kestner also makes her chart debut). Shame none of these will be considered 'hits' by chart books. Not a chart debutant but brilliant to see Bombay Bicycle Club picking up a third top 100 hit from their current album (although again none of those will be counted by chart books :( Though 'Feel' may climb into the top 75 next week based on iTunes). Paul Heaton has now had 2 #75 hits as a solo artist without going any higher - the previous one, 'Mitch' (2001), was credited to Biscuit Boy AKA Crackerman. Jake Bugg beating the peaks of his previous 2 singles with 'Messed Up Kids', largely thanks to sales of the EP. Picking up a 10th top 100 hit in all which is rather impressive for an artist like him, especially with just 2 albums to his name.
May 18, 201411 yr Oh Kylie. Bless you. Still, it could be worse. Lady Gaga's new single missed the chart completely.

Shame it wasn't a bigger hit after all the promotion over the last couple of weeks. Hope the album can at least go Top 20 next week!

May 18, 201411 yr AS IF Anastacia is at 41. Yeah I know . This album defies conventional chart logic :P. It was very surprising after it dropped to #10 in the midweeks that it not only stayed top 10 but rose to #9 (I know it was due to Katy B falling out but still), given the fanbase nature of the release. But this is bizarre. Falling from #9 out of the top 40 completely by Tuesday's midweeks and then ending up at #41? Did she have promo? It makes no sense to me. Edited May 18, 201411 yr by Noahspike
May 18, 201411 yr Author What was the last ESC related album that reached top 40? Depending on how tenuous you want to be, ABBA were #31 with 'Gold - Greatest Hits' 7 weeks ago, while the last *new* 'Eurovision related' album to go top 40 was probably Celine Dion's 'Loved Me Back To Life' last year. As for what the last 'current' Eurovision related album to go top 40 was, possibly Jedward's 'Victory' (#34 in 2011)? Though of course that wasn't quite selling off Eurovision in the same way as The Common Linnets. I couldn't even guess at what the last was to be directly comparable to 'The Common Linnets' in that way. Short version: depends what you mean by the question :P
May 18, 201411 yr There are no words to describe this amazing chart. I just CANNOT at there being 13 Eurovision songs in the top 100 (if you include Rainmaker - well done on that 2nd top 75 Emmelie!) And a bonus amazing top 40 album for The Common Linnets! And SANNA in the top 40 *.* So good, I wonder why the UK caught such Eurovision fever this year!?
May 18, 201411 yr So good, I wonder why the UK caught such Eurovision fever this year!? maybe because we believed we had a chance of doing well this year (expect viewing figures to drop next year when people don't believe the hype or BBC select something that obviously won't do well)
May 18, 201411 yr kylie did slightly better all round this week than i expected. Edited May 18, 201411 yr by Aphrodite
May 18, 201411 yr I noticed that Olly Murs is out of the Top 100 with his latest album "Right Place, Right Time" after 76 weeks!!! Well done!! Ouch for Anastacia..Big drop for her album. Her single "Stupid Little Things" deserved to be a Top 40 hit. Unfortunately, Freaky Fortune failed to be in the Top 100 with their "Rise Up". So, Kalomoira's "Secret Combination" is still the only entry here. 59 NE 01 Kylie Minogue I Was Gonna Cancel / It seems that it will be her lowest charting single (excluding "Flower" and "Put Your Hands Up (If You Feel Love)"). It's not a good single choice for her.

May 18, 201411 yr Tori Slaymos <3 Her highest charting album in the UK in 16 years I believe. Her 7th top 20 album and 12th top 40 album.
