May 28, 201411 yr Author Umi's Chart HighlightsIggy Azalea joins the Beatles as the only acts to rank at Nos. 1 and 2 simultaneously with their first two Hot 100 hits as 'Fancy' hits #1 and 'Problem' rises to #2.She's just the third woman to rank at Nos. 1 and 2 concurrently, following Mariah Carey (Sept. 10, 2005) and Ashanti (five weeks, 2002).Azalea additionally becomes only the fourth solo female rapper ever to top the Hot 100, following Lauryn Hill, Lil' Kim and Shawnna (who featured on 'Stand Up' by Ludacris).'Fancy' is the first single by a female solo artist pairing to hit #1 since 'S&M' by Rihanna and Britney did so in 2011. Before that, the last one was 'The Boy Is Mine' by Brandy and Monica. As 'Not a Bad Thing' hits #1 on Pop radio, Justin Timberlake has overtaken Bruno Mars for the most No. 1s by a solo male (seven) in the chart's history. Jason Derulo, at #7 with 'Talk Dirty' and #10 with 'Wiggle', has concurrent top 10s for the first time in his career.Digital track sales this past week totaled 22.07 million downloads, up 5 percent compared with last week (20.94 million) and down 10 percent stacked next to the comparable week of 2013 (24.49 million).Year to date track sales are at 487.54 million, down 12 percent compared to the same total at this point last year (555.67 million).

May 28, 201411 yr Strange to see that Iggy Azalea and Jason Derulo, of all artists, have two top 10s each this week! Great that 'Fancy' is #1 :D. Only the second Hot 100 #1 for a female rapper after Lauren Hill's 'Doo-Wop', according to Billboard .
May 28, 201411 yr Fantastic for Iggy. She might get her 2nd very soon if Problem knocks it off the top spot when the video comes out.
May 28, 201411 yr Fantastic for Iggy. She might get her 2nd very soon if Problem knocks it off the top spot when the video comes out. It'd be great if 'Problem' got there too but it wouldn't count towards that record as that's only for female rappers as lead artists (probably should have specified that in the first place, sorry!). May 28, 201411 yr who dat who dat at #1? :o I G G Y! Amazing for her, I never expected her to blow up like this but yay for it happening!
May 28, 201411 yr I find it bizarre how quickly Iggy has gone from being completely ignored to being an all-dominating star in the USA. Her album is holding up incredibly well too despite all her singles flopping up until 'Fancy' - and in the UK where her singles have done more consistently well, her album spent only 2 weeks in the top 40. :o Don't think it's been posted here but apparently Iggy has become only the second act (after, inevitably, The Beatles, as it always is) to be #1 and #2 simultaneously with their first 2 Hot 100 entries. One being a feature slightly devalues that but still an extremely impressive record. 'Am I Wrong' continuing to do incredibly well, must be destined for big things in the UK soon. Of all the BJSC songs to go on to be huge hits this is really not one I would have predicted but it's a good song so pleased to see it doing well.
May 28, 201411 yr Wow, the sales for 'Fancy' are so impressive. Never thought it would clear 300k in a week.

I guess the stars have aligned for her in general but particularly in the US, as 'Fancy' is becoming a much bigger hit there than in the UK. To the American public, I'm sure 'Fancy' is thought of as her debut single, in the vein of 'Blurred Lines' for Robin Thicke, and her album is reaping the benefits, as his did, despite not being a traditional album-selling type of artist. I can see her achieving a gold certification with the way things are going (namely airplay and potential singles) which is a strange concept given her position only a few months ago. May 29, 201411 yr YAAASSS at Iggy for hitting the number one spot!!! It is one of my favourite songs of 2014!!!! Also great that she has Top 2 songs this week as she is a featured artist on Problem!!!! Both songs were up chart points as well (Fancy up 46% and Problem up 25% - Fancy beat Problem by 28% chart points). Next week should be interesting with Problem video coming out. May 29, 201411 yr Also very unusual for a Hot 100 top 10 is representation from five countries this week: Australia (Iggy), UK (Charli XCX), Norway (Nico & Vinz), France (DJ Snake) and the US.
May 29, 201411 yr So happy Iggy got the #1, even if it is for just a week. Massive achievement for the Aussie. Kylie could never. : p Does anyone know why Billie Jean has suddenly returned to the chart?
May 29, 201411 yr Does anyone know why Billie Jean has suddenly returned to the chart? "Billie Jean" revisits the Hot 100 with 95 percent of its chart points from streaming. It debuts on the Streaming Songs chart at No. 2 thanks to the stylings of Brett Nichols, a junior at Pitman High School in Turlock, Calif. Nichols performed Jackson's iconic dance sequence from 1983's "Motown 25" TV special for his school's talent show, with the clip featuring the song's original audio. The video went viral and Jackson's classic bows on Streaming Songs with 11.2 million U.S. streams in the week ending May 25 (a 320 percent surge), according to Nielsen BDS. It debuts with 95 percent of its streams from YouTube (non-Vevo) activity. http://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/...0-return-xscape The article also notes that "Slave To The Rhythm" is his 50th Hot 100 hit!
May 29, 201411 yr 'Billie Jean' back at #14? I ain't even mad ~ Sure it'll drop straight out next week like all these streaming-led top 20 re-entries / obscure new entries but what a classic! Sam Smith breaking the top 30 and the top 40 woo. And another Hot 100 hit to add to his total as well. He really seems like an unlikely star but am not complaining about this $ucce$$.
