This is really quite awful, isnt it?

 

I'm not just saying that because it's Cheryl and I think she lacks everything in being a pop star bar appearance, but this song really highlights how poor her vocals are.

 

I always knew they were weak but post processing usually allows her to sound okay in the studio but here she sounds poor.

I am not even sure if this will get to #1 anymore. The reaction has been pretty damn poor all-round (and rightfully so), can't see many casual buyers getting on board and her fanbase is dwindling, as was shown with the sales of her last album. I suppose 6 weeks pent-up pre-orders along with the BGT performance and other promo makes #1 still a big possibly, but it will not be the big hit she really needs at this point.

 

It will get to #1, but I hate the horn/sax breakdown.

The song is boring too but I get what they were going for. In a way it works. I agree it almost NEEDS a remix though. It's so sparse, I feel it would be a lot better with an extra production element but I'm not sure what.

It's sad because this song isn't even bad but relative to her other leads, it's so weak.

'Crazy Stupid Love' is easily her worst lead single for me. It's not really growing on me much either. :(

All of her other lead singles are easily a 10/10, FFTL is one of those undeniably amazing 11/10 songs, classic. Crazy Stupid Love would be about a 3 :lol:

Completely agree, except to be fair I might give CSL a 7. I mean it's okay.

 

Imo Promise This has always been criminally underrated. It's quite polarising I guess, as shown above haha.

After hearing it on BGT, I just found it so awful.

This sounds like a huge overreaction but it really is a lot to do with the trumpets for me :lol: Those parts just make the track unlistenable for me, they sound so demo-y and half assed. All in all, the track just sounds so bland and nothing-y to me - it puts me in mind of a Pixie Lott demo :/

 

Plus, I do actually love cheryl but her voice doesn't suit the track either for me. I'm not sure what it is though, because Parachute and Under The Sun were similarly less "huge" in sound like Call My Name or Fight For This Love and I love those and they really suit her. I'm not exactly sure why but it just seriously falls flat for me all in all :(
