A couple of things in DJ Fresh's hit list, there is a song that seems to be erroneously credited to him ('Lovin' You More (That Big Track)') and the credit for 'Dibby Dibby Sound' uses the word 'featuring' twice, the first should be a 'vs.'

The DJ Format track is called 'We Know Something You Don't Know' also.

Wasn't he the Mosquito in the artist credit?

Sorted. I hate "vs" credits even more than I hate so many "featured" credits. It implies the artists are competing against each other, yet they're actually collaborating with each other. I blame MC Tunes and 808 State. And of course what appears to be the "sleeve" credit for "Gecko (Overdrive)" is Oliver Heldens x Becky Hill. The OCC are listing this as "&" though.

The DJ Format track is called 'We Know Something You Don't Know' also.

Sorted.

Thanks for all these

A couple of slight errors in Dillinja's entry: his 5th hit was called Fast Car, and his last hit was Thugged Out B***h/Rainforest (Polyhex lists the word as uncensored).

Apart from that, great stuff as usual!

Thanks. I've confirmed both those corrections and they will be amended as part of the Monday update.

Thanks, I will amend for Monday's update

Whoops! Sorry I forgot to post yesterday. Hope today's instalment kind of makes up for it.

Who's in Part 24 - well the biggest discographies relate to a trio of old timers - Lonnie Donegan, Val Donnican & Ken Dodd. Jason Donovan rode Kylie's (and SAW's) coat tails for a few years and racked up a number of hits, Dollar & Dr Hook represent some 80s MOR while Dr Dre comes from the more urban side of things. Also of course another load of DJ ....., only DJ Sammy and DJ Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince made over 50 weeks on the chart, while the less said about Joe Dolce Music Theatre the better.

Hopefully all the amendments and corrections noted above had been taken into account.

Last "D" instalment next week.

DJ Nation - Harder Edition charted in 2003 (may have been credited to Various Artists).

I think I can answer this one for you - the DJ Nation chart entries are all combined to 'Nukleuz DJs' in chart books so I would assume fchd has done the same.

Great stuff again.

Just one alphabetical question.

This entry: KEN DOH

British male production duo - Steve Burgess & Michael Devlin

Sounds like a "group" name to me and should be in the K section don't you think?

Also isn't Anita Dobson married to Brian May of Queen? Could be worth a mention...

I was going to be really pedantic and point out that David Devant & His Spirit Wife is a group name to, since he wasn't in the band. Not that they'd move very far anyway in that case.

Final section of "D" artists added.

From the above - Ken Doh moved to K, and David Devant etc. moved within the D's. Anita Dobson bio amended to include marriage to Brian May

DJ Nation/Nukleuz DJs etc. was always going to be a bit of messy one. I had lumped them in as "DJ Nation" rather than Nukleuz DJs (I think that's probably swings and roundabouts unless anyone can convince me they should be under N. However, as noted above, I had one record credited under the Various Artists moniker, I have now moved that to DJ Nation for consistency but added a note about the original credit.

This batch (slightly over my usual 100 artist per week as I didn't see any point of having a final batch of just 8 artists next week) is headlined by Duran Duran with their 230 weeks including 6 at number 1. Drake has racked up 180 weeks (with over half of them from just 3 tracks), and there are four more in this group with over 100 - Craig Douglas (almost forgotten these days), the Drifters, Duffy (103 weeks with tracks from her first album, just 2 with songs from the second) and Bob Dylan, more influential than all of the others in this group put together.

Ian Dury and Nick Drake are others who you would have thought had more weeks and hits than he did, Charlie Drake, Hilary Duff and Minnie Driver are better known for their work in other fields than their singing while Duke Dumont is the only one here in this week's Top 75.

I can't really decide what to do with the DJ Nation/Nukleuz DJs stuff either. I have 'DJ Nation' and 'DJ Nation - Bootleg Edition' credited to Nukleuz DJs and the other 3 credited to DJ Nation which seems to roughly match what you have (except without the 'Various Artists' credit).
I was going to be really pedantic and point out that David Devant & His Spirit Wife is a group name to, since he wasn't in the band. Not that they'd move very far anyway in that case.

On the same lines, Danny Wilson (Mary's Prayer) were a group so should be under D.

Doves "There Goes The Fear Again" should be "There Goes The Fear".
Despite his lack of chart success, by an odd little quirk of alphabetisation Nick Drake ends up in the same update as Stephen Duffy (who named a band after one of his lyrics) and Dream Academy (whose biggest hit was supposedly about him).

Sorry, I've got a whole letter's worth of backlog again, I'm a procrastinator.

Some of these facts my not really be worth including but I thought I'd toss them in anyway.

DB BOULEVARD - X-ref to Moony's solo hit?

D4L - The name apparently stands for "Down 4 Life"

D-SIDE - Spelling of "group"

D12 - Bizarre & Eminem had solo hits

RICARDO DA FORCE - Should he be counted as a member of KLF? I know he isn't usually but he does appear on all their hits.

He's also uncredited on other N-Trance hits.

RUI DA SILVA - Cassandra is Cass Fox, who later charted with a solo version of the same song.

DALI'S CAR - Mick Karn (Andonis Michaelides) 24Jul58 to 4Jan2011

DAMIAN - 'Time Warp' is a remix of 'Time Warp II'

DAMNED - Spelling of 'In Dulce Decorum'

DANDY WARHOLS - 'Horny As A Dandy' is a mash-up of 'Horny' by Mousse T and 'Bohemian Like You'.

DARK STAR - All three members were previously three-quarters of Levitation, though that group only made the album chart.

CRAIG DAVID - Tinchy Stryder is credited on 'Where's Your Love'

SPENCER DAVIS GROUP - Muff Winwood's real name is Mervyn (his parents weren't that cruel!)

DARREN DAY Summer Holiday Medley: In The Country-On The Beach-Do You Wanna Dance?

DORIS DAY - Her son Terry Melcher was a successful producer and songwriter, including on 'Move Over Darling'.

DE LA SOUL - Their stage names are Trugoy the Dove/PA Pacemaker Mase/Posdnous {respectively}

The 1994 hit 'Fallin' with Teenage Fanclub is missing

[They also appear on 'Feel Good Inc' by Gorillaz, but I don't think they have official chart credit there]

DEATH CAB - Ben Gibbard was married to Zoey Deschanel

NB, the group was named after a song by the Bonzo Dog Band.

DEATH IN VEGAS - Richard Fearless was born Richard Maguire

Correct title is 'Hands Around My Throat'

Very pedantic but the official sleeve credit on 'Scorpio Rising' is "Death In Vegas with Liam Gallagher"

DEBARGE - James Debarge was briefly married to Janet Jackson

DECLAN - His surname was Galbraith

DAVE DEE etc - 'Mr President' was credited to D,B,M&T [is the band without Dave Dee]

JOEY DEE & THE STARLIGHTERS - spelling "vocal"

DEEP PURPLE - 'Black Night' on New Live & Rare EP is a live version

DEGREES OF MOTION - Most books credit them consistently as Degrees Of Motion featuring Biti.

DEL AMITRI Correct song title is 'Some Other Sucker's Parade'

DELAKOTA - Cass Browne was also a member of Senseless Things

Re Morgan Nicholls - their album sleeve doesn't list him as a band member just a contributor to certain tracks. For the record, he too was in Senseless Things and Rose Smith is his sister. Both of them were involved in minor Top 75 act Morgan.

DELAYS - 'Wanderlust' is actually only on two of the three formats of 'Lost In A Melody', but both tracks were listed in the chart at the time. In fact, 'Wanderlust' is even listed on the front cover of the 7" that it's not on!

DEPTARTMENT S - Vaughan died Aug 1991

DEPECHE MODE -

x-ref Vince Clarke to Yazoo, Erasure etc. Gahan & Gore charted solo, Wilder as Recoil.

'Everything Counts' in 1989 is a live version.

dEUS They spell it with that odd typography, but I thought it was a bit arsy so feel free to leave it as it is.

DEVANTE - Should Dangerous Minds EP be under Various Artists? Each of the three tracks is by a different act.

DEXYS - Correctly spelt with no apostrophe

Possibly worth listing Al (Kevin) Archer among the members, as Kevin Rowland credits him with a lot of the ideas.

GWEN DICKEY - Is it worth mentioning that 'Wishing On A Star' and 'Car Wash' are re-recorded Rose Royce songs?

DIDO - Her full name is apparently Dido Florian Cloud de Bounevialle O'Malley Armstrong

DIFF'RENT DARKNESS:

Their hit was an EP: I Believe In A Thing Called Love; Get Your Hands Off My Woman; Love On The Rocks With No Ice

Obviously all those are covers of songs by the Darkness

DIMESTARS - Roxanne Wilde is the sister of Kim & daugther of Marty

DIO - RJ Dio (Ronaldo Padavona) 10 Jul 42 - 16 May 2010

DISPOSABLE HEROES OF HIPHOPRACY - x-ref Michael Franti to Spearhead

DISTILLERS Brody Dalle (Bree Robinson) born Australia. She is married to Josh Homme, and was previously married to Tim Armstrong of Rancid

DIVINE COMEDY - Possibly clarify that the hit with Shola Ama is a split single, not a direct collaboration?

DIXIE CHICKS - Maguire and Robison are sisters (their maiden name is Erwin)

DJ JAZZY JEFF & FRESH PRICE - Spelling of Jeffrey Townes. As the act name implies, he is a DJ/producer rather than a vocalist.

Both have recorded solo, though only Will Smith has charted.

DJ SHADOW - Q-Bert is credited on parts of the cover of Camel Bobsled Race NB that release is actually a DJ mix but was included in the single chart.

DR FEELGOOD - Lee Brilleaux (Collinson) 10 May 52 - 7 Apr 1994.

Wilko Johnson's real name is John Wilkinson; x-ref to Blockheads

ELIZA DOOLITTLE - Her mother Frances Ruffelle had a hit single

DOORS - Ray Manzarek (Manczarek) 12 Feb 1939 - 20 May 2013

Spelling of 'Breakn' A Sweat' [no, I don't know why it's spelt like that either but it consistently is]

The original release of 'Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick' is credited to Ian & The Blockheads

Spelling of 'Suepermans's Big Sister' [intentional to avoid trademark problems, apparently]

Charley (Hugh) Charles born Guyana 1945 died 1990

Also as above re: Wilko Johnson

BOB DYLAN - Full title of his 2007 hit is 'Most Likely You Go Your Way (And I'll Go Mine)'

His son Jakob Dylan had minor chart success as a member of the Wallflowers

I've now updated all of the D data to include all the above amendments (I hope), and brought all the entries up date. New thread for "E" now up, but please continue to add anything "D" related here as I'll keep any eye on this thread (and of course the A/B/C threads as well)
