I don't get why it's taken so long for SIO to appear on Spotify...I think it's not the fans manipulating the charts but the record companies just trying to give the track extra longevity in the charts which I get why but its annoying as it slows down the charts more

I think the tracks should be released digitally and online on the same week or maybe for streaming tracks to be released one week before digital release to help create a buzz for the new releases?!?!

I think it's more because Taylor's against streaming

Same happened with the red era

Ah ok I guess that kind of makes sense but how could you be against streaming?!?! Especially as it could be the difference between going top 10 or just missing out!

Having said that I hate streaming just because of the injustice of great songs not charting as high as they could like Ten Walls etc the list of casualties to streaming is endless

I think Taylor's logic is that if you don't release an album to streaming sites, it will get more sales. She's not the only one who does this, Beyoncé and Coldplay's most recent albums aren't on spotify either.

Sam Smith is an interesting one on this, he sold very well before his album was on streaming (I think it came out in May?), it came onto streaming in July and has continued to sold very well and even went back to number one, so big question on how much streaming effects physical sales

Personally, I don't think streaming would affect sales very much (most people do one or the other, I think it's a minority of people that do a bit of both).

However, the problem is Adele's 21 wasn't up for streaming, and we know how well that sold. In my opinion it's because of 21 that people like Rihanna and Taylor Swift didn't put their recent albums on Spotify. Even now nobody knows why that album sold so much, and I'm sure record companies would love to emulate its success if they were able to figure out how, but her album not being up for streaming is one of the first things people people could try.

Ooo at Alt-Js current single from the new album into the streaming top 30 - wonder if this could help it move into the official top 40 even though sales are lowish?

Adele was available on some streaming sites. But if we going to talk about Adele, what about Emeli Sande that album was in the charts just as long as Adele's I think, and that was streaming from day one as was Ed Sheeran's debut, his new album is also doing very well

Rihanna you mention, I think that last album was one her least successful albums, could be wrong though

Adele's album was like 100 times more successful than Emeli's though.

Personally I don't think with-holding songs/albums from streaming will increase sales, I was just trying to explain possible reasoning behind why some artists do it. Some people at record companies probably think it hurts sales, and the fact the biggest album of this decade wasn't on Spotify for a year or two after its release doesn't help matters.

YAS! for Blame It On Me finally going top 50 :yahoo:

Decent start for Taylor. Meghan could get to #1 on here before the songs released officially :o therefore could be the first to go top 40 on Streaming alone ^_^

If Meghan doesn't release this Sunday then I think it's possible, but unlikely.

You need ~10k to enter the top 40 these days. That's equivalent to one million streams. This website suggests that you have to be #1 on streaming all week to get that amount of streams and even then you're not guaranteed to have a million streams in a week

Not much movement apart from these today. Just a iTunes weekend effect sorta thing with old songs climbing back up.

All About That Bass  4

Shake It Off  37

Blame It On Me  39

Lullaby  93

Meghan in the top 5!! The no3 on streaming did 9k last week wonder if Meghan could do that next week and become the first streaming top 40 hit?

That was #3 over the entire week, not just on the final day of the week.

I predict she'll be somewhere between 55 and 60 officially.
