13. When You Believe (Ft Mariah Carey)

At #13 is the infamous big ballad "When You Believe" featuring long time rival Mariah Carey and the track features on both Whitney's "My Love Is Your Love" album and Mariah's "#1's" album. The song itself is the main featured song for the animated film "Prince Of Egypt" and won a Oscar for Best Original Song. Released in November 1998 and the song became a worldwide smash hit despite not topping any charts it did manage #2 peaks in Norway, Spain, Sweden and Swiss, along with top 5 in Italy, Belgium, Netherlands, UK and France, and top 10 in Austria, Ireland, Germany, New Zealand and Finland, and top 20 in Australia, Canada and USA where it was seen as an underperformance despite earning a Gold disc.

"I Believe In You And Me" and "I Look To You" are great songs!!! I can't believe that they were so low in this rate. "I'm Every Woman" deserved to be out of the Top 20. The lyrics are quite bad IMO. I hope "How Will I Know" and "My Love Is Your Love" will be in the Top 5.

At #12 is "Step By Step" a song recorded in 1992 originally by Annie Lennox, and appeared as a B-Side to her 1992 "Precious". Whitney later recorded the song herself after Annie Lennox sent it to her, and used it for the soundtrack to her third movie "The Preacher's Wife in 1996. The song was released in 1997 as the 2nd single from the soundtrack and first UK single and became a hit reaching #15 in the USA and earning a Gold disc for selling over 500,000 copies, and in the UK it peaked at #12 but became a big seller, selling over 200,000 copies and earning a Silver disc, due to it's lengthy run in the charts. Worldwide it became the most successful single from the soundtrack, reaching top 10 in Spain, Austria and Germany, as well as top 20 peaks in Finland, Netherlands, Australia, Belgium, Ireland, Italy, Canada, Sweden and Swiss, and mostly top 40 everywhere else. The song re-entered the UK charts in 2012 after her death and peaked at #83. In Entertainment Weekly this song was placed at 13th on the 25 Best Whitney Songs and 5th on "Whitney Houston’s 10 Best Songs That Radio Forgot".

Just outside the top 10 is "Million Dollar Bill" which was Whitney's final hit before she died. Written by Alicia Keys and samples Loleatta Holloway's "We're Getting Stronger" and Whitney herself cited that she wanted to work with Alicia Keys after hearing her perform at one of Clive Davis's parties. The song was chosen to be released after the 3 listening parties where it was cited as a Big Comeback Record, and was therefore released as the 2nd US single from her final studio album "I Look To You" in August 2009. The song wasn't a success on the US Billboard Charts, peaking at only #100, but fared much better in UK where it first peaked at #12, and then performed the song on X Factor and then the song climbed to #5 becoming her first top 5 hit in 10 years and last. Worldwide the song reached top 10 in Belgium, Scotland and Ireland, and top 20 peaks in Italy and Finland, and top 40 peaks in Sweden and Swiss. In Germany it was released as a double a-side with "I Look To You" and peaked at #41, and the song also charted in Netherlands and Canada. This is also the last of her hits from the 2000's to feature in this countdown.

One Moment In Time

I'm Your Baby Tonight

All The Man That I Need

I Will Always Love You

I Have Nothing

Run To You

It's Not Right But It's Okay

Which do you think will win.

Sad to see 'Step By Step' outside the Top 10. :( My ultimate favourite of hers.
All At Once i expected to at the least make top 20 so i am a little surprised at the outcome, however, one moment in time has at the least made the top 10, defining whitney moment for me that i would be delighted to see win.

10. I Will Always Love You

Right we have finally down to the final 10, and starting us off at #10 is "I Will Always Love You", which is a definate shock as it's her most iconic and biggest hit ever, but oh well Buzzjack have spoken, despite a number of high rates with four 10's and just one 11, the rest are mainly 8's and 9's, but there were two low rates of -1 and a 5, which prevented this from getting higher, but at least it made the top 10. Whitney recorded this song in 1992 for the soundtrack to her film debut "The Bodyguard". Whitney originally wanted to record Jimmy Ruffin's "What Becomes Of The Brokenhearted" as the lead single, but when it was discovered that the song was gonna be used for another movie "Fried Green Tomatoes", she requested another song and co-star Kevin Costner brought her Linda Ronstadt's version from her 1975 album "Prisoner In Disguise", Whitney loved it and decided to record it as a R&B soul song and smooth jazz ballad. The song was actually originally recorded by Dolly Parton in 1974 and sang it in her movie "The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas" and hit #1 on the US Country charts, and when re-released in 1982 the song finally broke the US Billboard charts peaking at #53, as well as topping the Country charts again. Whitney's version was an even bigger and massive success by spending 14 weeks at #1 on the US Billboard charts as well as dominating the over component charts for several weeks. In the UK it also had similar success topping the charts for 10 weeks and ranked as the biggest selling single of that year as well, and even became the 9th best selling single the following year as well. Worldwide the song topped the charts practically everywhere around the world and after her success the tabloid press began reporting a feud between Whitney and Dolly, stemming from apparently that Dolly Parton weren't allowed to perform her own version of that song while Whitney's version was still on the charts. But both denied these allegations and Dolly even praised Whitney's version and both artists spoke very highly of each other during interviews.

After Whitney's death in 2012 Dolly Parton spoke very highly of Whitney stating that her heart is just one of many millions whose is broken and again grateful and performing such a wonderful version of her song. Jennifer Hudson also performed a rather beautiful version of this song at the Grammy's honouring Whitney herself and recieved praise for her performance. In 2012 "I Will Always Love You" became a hit again as it was the song that the fans turned to as it re-entered the US Billboard charts at #3 and hit #10 in the UK and hit top 10 in 17 countries 20 years after it was first released. The song itself also won several awards during her lifetime including 2 Grammy's, 6 Billboard Music Awards and several others.

9. Run To You

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/5/54/Wh_runtoyou.jpg/220px-Wh_runtoyou.jpg

Avg: 8.428

At #9 is "Run To You" another Bodyguard era single to drop out, leaving now just one left. Released in June 1993 as the 4th single from "The Bodyguard Soundtrack" and was originally intended to be a break up song, but the director of the movie Mick Jackson said he liked the song so much that he'd rather have it to be a love song, so the entire song was re-written and except for the title. But when released most people already owned the soundtrack and on the US Billboard charts it wasn't as successful as the previous singles peaking at only #31, and the soundtrack had already sold 8 million copies in the US at the time. The song itself and "I Have Nothing" were also nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Song but both lost out to "A Whole New World" from Aladdin. Worldwide the song again wasn't as quite as successful but did manage top 10 peaks in Ireland and Canada, top 20 in Belgium and UK and top 40 in South Korea and then finally charting in France, Netherlands and Germany. The song may not be one of her biggest selling hits but it is fondly remembered by many fans and covered by several artists including Christina Aguilera performed it as a tribute to Whitney in 2001 and the 1st winner of The Voice UK Leanne Mitchell sang the song twice live on the show and released it as a single, peaking at a paltry #47 on the UK charts.

At #8 is "I'm Your Baby Tonight" which was the lead single and title track from Whitney's third album, released in September 1990 and despite recieving mixed reviews as many citing it as copying Michael Jackson's "The Way You Make Me Feel" the song became a huge success becoming her 8th US #1 hit and her 5th most successful single over there, and even though the song showed a different style to Whitney at the time, taking a more edgier and funky sound and even in the music video where she pays homage's to the sounds of the Black music which have helped her define her sound. This was Whitney's first single of the 90's and even knocked off her rival Mariah Carey from the US #1 spot with "Love Takes Time". Worldwide the song was also one of her most successful singles ever hitting #1 in Italy and hitting top 5 in Belgium, Canada, Finland, Netherlands, Austria, Norway, France, Sweden, Swiss, Germany and in the UK becoming her 8th top 10 hit at the time. The song also reached top 10 in Ireland, Australia and Spain and hit top 20 in New Zealand. In 2012 the song re-entered the UK charts at #88 and was ranked 18th in Entertainment Weekly's 25 Best Whitney Houston songs.

At #7 is the ever wonderful and beautiful "One Moment In Time" which was released in August 1988 for the Summer Olympics of that year also. The song's melody was inspired by Elvis Presley where the song's writer Albert Hammond imagined him singing the song and the track is an anthem for believing in yourself against all odds, and Whitney stepped up to the challenge and sang the song live at the ceremony and the song itself won an Emmy of that year also. Since then this song has been a main staple sports montages, and she again sung the song live at the 1989 Grammy's where it has been cited as one of her all time best performances. Worldwide it of course became a massive hit reaching #1 in Germany and UK (becoming her 3rd chart topper) and hit top 5 positions in Austria, Belgium, Finland, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Sweden, Swiss and in the USA becoming her 10th top 10 hit over there. In 2012 the song re-entered the charts in several countries worldwide, peaking highest in Swiss at #18, and hitting top 40 in Austria, Spain and UK.

The song became a success when released peaking at #4 on the US Billboard charts and went Platinum, and won a Grammy in 2000 for Best Female Vocal Performance. At #5 is the follow up to #6 "My Love Is Your Love" released in July 1999 as the 4th single from the album of the same name and became the album's most successful selling single worldwide and 3rd most successful single ever behind "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" and "I Will Always Love You" with over 5 million copes sold. Avg: 9.035

At #4 is "How Will I Know" released in November 1985 and taken as the 4th single from her self-titled debut album. The song was actually meant for Janet Jackson, but she passed on it despite the song being written for her, and so Whitney recorded it with altered lyrics and became another chart smash for her and the music video became one of the first female black videos to get heavy rotation on MTV and exposed her to a wider audience, which was something that black singers found difficult to do at the time, due to it's colourful and cheery vibe and even won Best Female Video at the MTV Music Video Awards in 1986. The song became Whitney's 2nd US #1 after "Saving All My Love For You" and hit #5 in the UK giving her another hit and earning a Silver disc. Worldwide the success continued by topping the charts in Canada and reaching top 5 peaks in Australia, Finland, Ireland, Norway and Sweden, and top 20 and top 40 peaks everywhere else. In 2012 the hit the charts again, cracking the US Top 50 at #46 and peaking at #56 in UK and charting in France, South Korea and Netherlands.
