July 6, 20159 yr Falling just short of getting Persephonian (would-be) votes and thus definitively ending one of Desbuanda's proudest traditions is an even tougher pill to swallow than DNQ'ing tbh :(...buuuut not as traumatising as losing to a David Jordan album track obvs :') Think of the streak as only applying to contests where I had a chance to vote for you and it still holds ;o (minus Heathers). It just happens that I have been able to vote for you in at least the semi in every contest until now. :magic:
July 6, 20159 yr Author Big hugs from Aquafina Dw Noah, people probs just confused it with TaraElla - Beauty x Think of the streak as only applying to contests where I had a chance to vote for you and it still holds ;o (minus Heathers). September 17, 20159 yr Noah this is my favourite entry of yours since joining the contest! Really glad to see it in the final.
September 23, 20159 yr Reminds me vaguely of this song, both production and subject matter :o Z4mbxaa3XL8 ALSO, I mistook the video thumbnail for this :kink:
September 25, 20159 yr Thank you so much for Steven A. Clark, he's the winner in my eyes. A male voice hasn't touch me in such a long time. His other music is so good.
October 1, 20159 yr Author Noah this is my favourite entry of yours since joining the contest! Really glad to see it in the final. Ah, good to hear, and obviously it needed all the support it could get :drama: so your points were much appreciated! Of my last five entries, I'd probably rank 'Can't Have' second after 'Calling Out', but it may well overtake that in my affections soon enough. I love 'Virtual Paradise' by the way - would have got big points had I voted so it was great to see it go top 10 without my help. :D Reminds me vaguely of this song, both production and subject matter :o Z4mbxaa3XL8 ALSO, I mistook the video thumbnail for this :kink: Haha, great observations on both counts! Must find my own elaborate ways of commenting on your entries without revealing whether I like them or not. Thank you so much for Steven A. Clark, he's the winner in my eyes. A male voice hasn't touch me in such a long time. His other music is so good. That's very high praise :o - thanks Totto! I love his voice as well but have only heard one other track of his (can't remember the name), which didn't do much for me. I believe his debut album's just come out, which I'll have to check out sometime anyway. And thanks for the 18 points! I'm delighted you made such a discovery in it. :D
October 11, 20159 yr Author 79 Increasingly fed up after sending a steady stream of flops over the last several months, the Desbuandese have opted to take comfort in the BJSC-friendly genre of RAP to return the country to success. B-) Fx8jPmrIb-E That final minute though *.*.*.*.*.* <33333

January 23, 20169 yr Author 81 One of a few entries bringing fiery Latin vibes to Semi 2, New York duo Sofi Tukker's 'Matadora' is an interpretation of an old Brazilian poem, blending South American folk rhythms with rippling dance beats that all makes for a wondrously quirky jam. d6GJeap4Oqo
February 17, 20169 yr *bumps thread* x Desbuanda are really on fire this year so far for me! 'Matadora' remains a massive fave and one I can see myself going back to listen to regularly for quite a while (which I don't really do for a lot of BJSC songs) and I am loving 'Daniel' as well  Not sure what its prospects for qualifying are, but I hope it has a shot after The Very Best and Dele Sosimi Afrobeat Orchestra managed it recently. Real shame I'm in the opposite semi again. Did you say these entries were picked at literally the last minute?? Keep doing that if it keeps producing such excellent entries!
February 19, 20169 yr Author 82 In sending Batuk's debut single this month, Desbuanda has chosen to simultaneously channel the ethnic roots of its country name and pay tribute to the contest's host. A South African collective of producers and vocalists who fuse electronic with tribal beats, Batuk sets out its unique brand of afro-house with the thrilling and mesmerisingly rhythmic 'Daniel'. Keep doing that if it keeps producing such excellent entries! Can't get much higher praise than that <3. I also don't listen to many BJSC entries after contests finish so it's really great to hear that 'Matadora' has made that impact on you :D. Happy that you're on board with 'Daniel' too - I did have a feeling you might be so was hoping Persephonia would be in the same semi like old times :kink:, but that wasn't to be. Yeah, I'm not anywhere near as confident of qualifying as with 'Matadora' (weird as that expectation was), but hoping it finds some fans, especially as it's in a similar vein to past qualifiers as you've said. Haha, I actually tried to enter another Paperwhite track at the very last minute (and yep, discovered 'Matadora' just before last month's deadline too) but clashed with Dan(iel) lol (I was obviously v busy on Valentine's evening B-)). Then spent about two hours the following day searching for something new as I wasn't fully backing any of my potentials, but knew from first listen that I could support 'Daniel'. Stressful as it's been, I kind of like this new strategy too! Edited February 19, 20169 yr by Noahspike
February 23, 20169 yr 'Daniel' is such a beaut! And so refreshing to hear the Portuguese language in an Mozambican accent too! What a stunner! This and 'Matadora' (also in Portuguese! represent!!) are high up there in my Top 10 favourites of 2016 already, keep them coming!!
February 23, 20169 yr Well that answers my question of what language 'Daniel' is in  The main bit goes Why didn't you want to stay with me Daniel You're hiding, you're running away Daniel Hey look, look at me Daniel Hey look, look at me Daniel Poor Dan is not ready for all that ass!
