The Rixton song is completely inoffensive MOR pop, I don't see how it can invoke such hatred. I don't LOVE it but it's a nice enough catchy song with a wide appeal. It will hang around longer than people think I expect, especially if Heart pick it up.

Trust me, I've heard it a couple of times already, I just can't get my head round it. I must be getting old :(

I hope Will can get another week, don't want rixton there!
On a different note Ella Henderson seems to be doing well for a 5th week inside the top 10, never really expected her to stick around, stream sales must be helping her a lot.

err she is currently #5 on the iTunes chart (and hasnt been outside the top 5 for 5 weeks!), streaming has had little impact for her....

Exactly  it's so odd! Although I love maroon 5, I can see why Adam Levine's voice might not be to everyone's taste, but Rixton's voices are pretty generic and the song is inoffensive radio friendly pop, it's not like it's loud or experimental or anything. I really like the song actually, although not as much as I did a few months ago - the release date being so far away from the WW release is ridiculous, but then this is the UK :P

I think you just answered your own question there. :heehee:

People saying Rixton sounds like Maroon 5 - does no one remember Rob Thomas "Lonely No More"? The chorus is identical. I don't know whether it was accidental or deliberate, but he has a songwriting credit on it.

Edit - Rixton say it was deliberate, Rob says it was accidental but he is cool with it.

As I said its thread in the Pop forum, this Rixon song sounds like Maroon 5, Olly Murs, Bruno Mars and Lawson all rolled into one, with elements also sounding like Lonely No More by Rob Thomas and Littlest Things by Lily Allen.

It's nice enough though.

Surprise surprise, someone else I've never heard of...

Rixton never heard of, crikey another boy band, I thought it was some sort of European dance outfit

Thanks Martin - at least it's not *just* me that hasn't heard of someone, this time. :)

Just looked them up in the airplay chart - apparently they've been there for 8 weeks, and were #19 last week! :o

Who has actually been playing them, though?

Oh god, I rarely reply in these threads but I'm so sick of the same boring a$$holes whinging about how 'bad' the charts are.

Just because you don't like what's popular doesn't mean that it's bad or terrible..

If the majority of the buying/streaming public are behind it, maybe it's your taste that's 'bad'?

I'm not a huge fan of Rixton but they shouldn't be discredited as another 'boyband' and a flash in the pan because you don't like their style of music. They write their own songs, play their own instruments.. They should be applauded for breaking through not critised because their music is 'bad'. The song is a catchy, radio friendly pop song, I'm not surprised in the slightest that it's doing well.

I am, however, obviously a massive Nicole fan so I'm delighted to see her still on the rise.

Capital FM, played *a lot* by Radio 1..

Looking at the popularity bars and the fact that it's only 12pm provides me with hope that Nicole could at least manage to go to 03 on iTunes! Hopefully it manages it overall!
Rixton #1 :cheer: Fantastic to see, great song. I get the Maroon 5 comparisons but the guy has a much more tolerable voice than Adam Levine's :kink:

52 MAGIC! - Rude

54 Cheryl Cole - Crazy Stupid Love (feat. Tinie Tempah)

64 Second Avenue - Rude

85 Starstruck Backing Tracks - Crazy Stupid Love (In the Style of Cheryl Cole)

MAGIC! and Cheryl are quite close on pre-orders :o

At least I have a get-our clause (some of the time) - I rarely even hear such new songs enough to know whether they are bad or not. :P

Basically, I just prefer collating sales!

63. Bipolar Sunshine - Deckchairs On the Moon

could *maybe* scrape the top 100 this week? it'll probably drop off quite a bit over the week though

Rixton *wish* they were as lawsome as Lawson :smoke:

Why would they wish to be utter shit? :o
