lol so on time (tho in my defence Iz is still not back from the beach cos apparently that's a higher priority than ROTD ~)

Β

2009 results may or may not be today. Could end up being posted at like 2am. I'd start the 2011 thread now but unforch I still need to get the spreadsheet off Izzle so it'll have to wait.

SORRY for being so late, I didn't realise that Sundays would end up being my 'let's go out all day' day most of the time this summer and this was the longest of them all. Good news everybody, Cornwall still has nice beaches.

Lower qualifier wipeout here, as well as some presumptous AQs from Adele and BeyoncΓ© among others. We lose Santigold too unfortunately. Despite doing excellently (somehow) in the playoff round Forever fails to make an impact here (this is your fault for not voting Griff, not that I mind :D). Take a Bow looked like securing an AQ all the way through and only just narrowly lost out on the last vote.

I don't mind too much though as this means that a place in next year's final goes to PENDULUM. Celebrations all round everyone, Propane Nightmares is brilliant and fully deserves that (we could have knocked out Sex On Fire for Take a Bow though, and I'm annoyed that continues to live). The (way way) better Kylie Minogue song swaps out the other one, along with the top 4 of the playoff and shockingly, the very swaggy Dance Wiv Me. Male black rapper wins over Buzzjack shock. 8th to 10th last year are the only drop outs from the top 10 so not too much of a change there. My ROTD curse is in full effect though. This is the curse where if, year on year, my own opinion on a track improves or tires, Buzzjack will reward me by doing the opposite. This can be seen with Time To Pretend, which I've just come round to in all its gloriousness sharply does worse than its counterpart Kids (which is also pretty good)

9 13 - Sam Sparro - Black And Gold 254

8 5 - Coldplay - Viva La Vida 263

7 7 - Alphabeat - Fascination 271

6 4 - Leona Lewis - Run 290

5 21 - Robyn - Be Mine! 306

4 2 - M.I.A - Paper Planes 318

Β

Thankfully only one Britney song gets in here, and it's one of her better ones, leaving us with an entirely acceptable top 10. Robyn sees a big improvement to finish top 5 where she's probably more comfortable, while Sam Sparro improves 4 places to see some male soloist rep in the playoffs to join Coldplay (the only other males) from here. Paper Planes continues its major fave-slaying, alas not sending M.I.A quite straight to the final but she's almost there.

Β

3 1 - Katy Perry - Hot N Cold 324

2 3 - Saturdays - Up 342

1 6 - Rihanna - Disturbia 381

Β

Now here's the second part of my ROTD curse. I don't mind too much as Disturbia has always been one of my favourite Rihanna songs, but it'd normally be on course for my 20 while this year I felt it deserved significantly less (probably just overplayed it, let's hope this isn't the complete death of my pop loving). Regardless, it bounces back to #1, a position I recall it getting in the 2012 ROTD. Saturdays and Katy Perry with probably their best efforts join them in going straight to the final. Ignore my complaining over minor things, this is a really good result.

Sad at beyonce finishing so low but yay at BRITNEY WITH THE AMAZING WOMANIZER MAKING IT THROUGH

Also love hot n cold, up, disturbia, paper planes, run and fascination

Great results

'Disturbia' is really not a Rihanna highlight at all - she has plenty of great songs ('Don't Stop The Music' in particular so GACK at that just missing top 10), why are BuzzJack so obsessed with this average one :( The top 10 dropouts bar GA are great and their replacements are all varying levels of average to okay (it says a lot when Britney is the best of the 3). And 'Paper Planes' is a TUNE so it being kicked out of the top 3 by the aforementioned average Rihanna track is not on. Not happy with any of this ~

Β

(except for Pendulum and Dizzee getting AQs, yus @ those 2)

Β

BTW I think 2009 results are definitely gonna be tomorrow now lol sorry (will get 2011's final posted in a sec).

Black and Gold JUSTICE *.* it was playing in Wandsworth Southside shopping centre today, still such relevance
Disturbia is fantastic, far from average with its Blue (Da Ba Dee) inspiration. Amazing climb for Robyn too! And yay at Love Song doing better this year :D

Pleasantly surprised that 'Disturbia' has come out on top. Didn't believe it was one of her popular ones on BuzzJack!

Β

Some very good ones in that 36-50 section. :(

I'd moan about Elbow coming so close again but they were miles off in points. Womanizer though?! We'd got it right last year putting that shit below her other two which are her best (only decent) songs.

Β

Excellent to see Robyn and MIA so high, even if the latter has fallen.

Take A Bow should be WAY higher, definitely one of her best singles!

Β

Disturbia is a great winner though.
