No problem Jade! I own the CDs from volume 21 to the current one, volume 88. Pretty much my entire life up to now in music. The history has taught me a lot about pop music! :)

Ooh wow that's amazing! I have 35, then most from 44-87 (with the omissions of: 45, 55 & 78). I started collecting when 60 was the newest one and have just been filling in some of the blanks since, it's so great to rediscover stuff you've forgotten about!

Great :D

Ooh okay, well it's not the most mainstream track in the world (but should be!). Ooh okay that's fair enough, I think there's still another Robbie track to come anyway ^_^ I need to listen to more of Christina Milian's stuff, I'm surprised I haven't done so already considering how much I love 'Dip It Low'. YESS the instrumentation is just amazing! Thank you for commenting <3

Love Brimful Of Asha mainly for the fact it was number one when I was born. Classic.

I used to love Disturbia but not really any more.

180. Natalia Kills - Mirrors (2011)

Ooh I cannot reiterate how much I wish she was so much bigger! Natalia seems like such a huge star yet never quite reaches commercial success. I fell in love with 'Mirrors' after only one view of the music video in 2011. I felt that it was all a bit Gaga with the whole "love, control, vanity" thing but I absolutely love her image, voice and songs, this one in particular has quite a strong chorus and I tend to go back to it the most out of all her songs.

179. Basshunter - Now You're Gone (2008)

Aw this takes me right back to my final year in primary school when it was pretty much everywhere. A looping dance track so it's formula isn't really the most original or interesting thing in the world, but I guess I just love it for the nostalgia and despite the subject matter, how feel-good it is with the pounding bass. He never really came close to this for me.

178. The Kinks - You Really Got Me (1964)

One of two Kinks tracks to appear here, with their most famous track and first U.K. number 1 (released on my birthday... although a good 33 years before I was born). I just love them to be honest, as I'm into most of the 60's 'British Invasion' bands. I adore their unique vocals and prominent guitar riffs. Such a classic!

177. Massive Attack - Paradise Circus (2010)

The music video was very much NOT Google friendly  Anyway, I adore Massive Attack, and they're as strong as ever here with vocals and lyrics so sultry that grip me for every word. SUCH a great track to relax to, it's a weird combination of melancholy yet sensual. I guess the lyrics are open to a lot of interpretation like wanting someone for a short period of time and then being done with them after they've gotten what they need (the lyrics about 'flies') as well as just dangerous behaviour in love like desperately looking for someone to be close to even though things were doing fine. It's all a bit mind-boggling, but a very good song.

176. Lana Del Rey - Ride (2012)

The first of four appearances for Lana here! Ooh this song gives me chills, just from the opening alone. Her vocals are as sultry and gorgeous as ever, always bringing the emotion. The track makes me go into my own little world, as I take the track to mean about detaching yourself from everything that's not quite right (I guess she means it to be about relationships?) in life and calming your mind, and this track does exactly that, for a good four minutes or so it just makes me forget all my problems. Stunning.

175. Toploader - Dancing In The Moonlight (2000)

Firstly, I had no idea that this track was a cover! Well, it's a cover I very much enjoy. As soon as the opening starts, it instantly puts me in a fantastic mood. It's just a really fun and breezy track with such positive lyrics that ensure that it makes me smile whenever it comes on.

174. The Ting Tings - That's Not My Name (2008)

This is here for similar reasons to the Basshunter track really, another song that takes me back to the very happy memories of my last year of primary school. This was the song that me and my best friend would sing all the time. It's just so catchy and although Katie takes centre-stage in the song, I really quite like the layer of vocals from Jules as well that just gives it that something extra.

173. Jennifer Lopez - Love Don't Cost a Thing (2001)

The video sees J-Lo rocking the Ariana hairstyle a good thirteen years before, how ahead of the times. ANYWAY, although the title of the track is pretty much exactly what you get in the tin, it's just a bit of a pop gem really. Although the "you can win my heart and get what's in my heart" verse near the end of the song is a bit questionable, I really do love the straight-to-the-point chorus and the meaning behind it, even if it may seem a bit cliche now.

172. Gramophonedzie - Why Don't You (2010)

Ooh I love this. I really do love modernised twists on more vintage songs (See also: 'Bang Bang' & 'Shot You Down'). This oozes the glamour of more retro time periods yet has been remixed into more of a dance track. Very much a forgotten hit these days, but one that I often go back to a lot as I can't get enough of it.

171. Sam Sparro - Black and Gold (2008)

Yet another 2008 song in this section, it's very obvious that this year was quite a special one in music for me. Anyway, I remember my brother used to hammer this when it was new and ultimately led to me loving it. Sam's vocals are stunning and emotional as he questions whether God exists or not. So much imagery used and leaves a lot to think about. Really cool production too, and a chorus that hits me every time.

So many great songs in that section and loving reading this countdown

The songs I haven't heard: paradise circus

I think I like you really got me if it's the song I am thinking off but I am not sure

The ones I quite like: Why Don't You, Black And Gold, love don't cost a thing- Remember both of these really well

Love the rest

Dancing In The Moonlight- Classic and great songs

Now You're Gone- Love this

Ride- Not her best but still bloody amazing

THAT'S NOT MY NAME- One of my favourites of 2008 and that is saying something. So catchy and fantastic

MIRRORS- Always wished this had massive chart success. One of the best songs of 2011 which I am still in love with. It is so amazing and the beat and singing and everything about it is fantastic. I always thought this was going to do well in the chart as it was receiving quite a lot of TV airplay. Anyway it spent 3 weeks at #1 on my personal charts and has sold like 2.6M to date

180. Natalia Kills - Mirrors (2011) - Did you know that she was previously Verbalicious in 2005? Known for the hit 'Don't Play Nice'! See: Now 60. ;)

179. Basshunter - Now You're Gone (2008) - Now 69! - Also, early-mid 2008 was special for me as it was my last year of High School! This choon brings back memories!

178. The Kinks - You Really Got Me (1964) - I agree with you on this one! What a band!

174. The Ting Tings - That's Not My Name (2008) - Now 70! - Also, another corker. Shame they didn't get any bigger after 'Shut Up and Let Me Go', great band!

172. Gramophonedzie - Why Don't You (2010) - Now 75! - Also, this. Never knew this song had so many fans despite its peak and chart run. Bought it on iTunes when it was released. I love this kind of stuff. Works really well back-to-back with 'We No Speak Americano'!

171. Sam Sparro - Black and Gold (2008) - Now 70!

Hiya! Yes I did know she was Verbalicious, 'Don't Play Nice' is alright but not a patch on her Natalia Kills material IMO! Glad to see you're liking quite a few of the same stuff like The Kinks, Ting Tings & Gramophonedzie! Thanks for commenting! ^_^

170. The Kinks - All Day and All of the Night (1964)

The second and final appearance of The Kinks now. Like I said for 'You Really Got Me', I just adore The Kinks and other bands such as The Beatles and Rolling Stones that were all part of The British Invasion. Once again I'm loving the unique vocals and the massive sliding guitar riff throughout the track. Really simple, straight-forward lyrics which makes it very accessible and easy to enjoy.

169. Coldplay - Clocks (2003)

Ooh what a gorgeous melody, and that melody remains the only thing I can play on the piano! This song seems to speak about anxieties and missed opportunities and running out of time, and this is one of those songs that seems to provide great escapism. Expect quite a bit more Coldplay to come!

168. Armand Van Helden ft. Duane Harden - You Don't Know Me (1999)

Ooh what a 90's dance classic! Although the lyrical content is a bit angst-ridden, that amazing house production makes it into an absolute banger. Really great instrumentation and something I go back to a lot to lift the mood.

167. Kaiser Chiefs - Everyday I Love You Less and Less (2005)

Okay I love how chaotic the delivery in the song is, it makes the words that are being sung sound a lot more real as it seems to be about someone convincing themselves that they are over a past love. I also really like the very energetic pounding production that drives it along. So catchy!

166. The Beatles - I Am the Walrus (1967)

Hooray, the existence of the (rather dire) Magical Mystery Tour movie provides us with a 'music video' that's in colour for this! 'I Am the Walrus' is a VERY bizarre piece of psychedelic experimentation on the surface, but delve a little deeper and it's very clever with all the word play and imagery that John Lennon was great at. Written to try and confuse people, it does just that with it's nonsensical lyrics. Oh well, still so odd that it's fascinating.

165. Scissor Sisters - Filthy/Gorgeous (2005)

Ooh how glam is this. Scissor Sisters always know how to bring the fun into their uptempo stuff! I used to sing and dance to this as an (even younger) youngster completely oblivious of the lyrics, and now knowing them it is a bit weird to look back on THAT, but it's still so enjoyable anyway even if the subject matter is rather alien to me!

164. Lana Del Rey - Born to Die (2012)

Ooh another stellar Lana track! Although rather dark with the whole the end is inevitable thing, I rather quite like how her sensual vocals and dark lyrics and themes can transport me elsewhere and leaves a lot to think about. A rather long chorus indeed but one that still grips me for every word so it doesn't even matter.

163. The Beach Boys - I Get Around (1964)

I didn't realise quite how 60's this section was!! Anyway, The Beach Boys are another 60's group that I'm a fan of, mainly due to their fantastic harmonising! Although seemingly about guys who think they're it, I love it for how catchy and uplifting it is, as well as THOSE harmonies.

162. Snow - Informer (1993)

Reaching no.2 in 1993 was this very track, and what a one-of-a-kind it is! A fuse of rap and reggae with.. rather indecipherable lyrics! It's so instantly uplifting even though it's pretty much gibberish, which is a weird thing to say, but I guess that's just how strangely unique it is!

161. Rachel Stevens - Sweet Dreams My LA Ex (2003)

GUILTY PLEASURE ALERT. Yet another childhood favourite, this is by far the best thing that Rachel Stevens ever did. Although her vocals aren't the strongest in the world, she did get extremely lucky with this song. The production alone is pretty superb and the chorus makes it a pop gem.

Edited by Jade

Don't know or like many of those. Like sweet dreams (Rachel was my favourite when younger but this was her weakest song for me), clocks and the kaiser chiefs.

LOVE LOVE LOVE BORN TO DIE  . Such a beautiful and amazing song and its by queen Lana

Fair enough, a lot of it is pretty old in this section

Haha I thought you'd appreciate the Lana. ;) So sublime though, there are still two more of her songs to come I think!

170. The Kinks - All Day and All of the Night (1964) - Another quality tune by The Kinks. I really appreciate Kate Nash's cover of this from her Death Proof EP.

168. Armand Van Helden ft. Duane Harden - You Don't Know Me (1999) - Now 42! - Also, what a club banger!

167. Kaiser Chiefs - Everyday I Love You Less and Less (2005) - Now 61! - Also, one of my all time favourites by the Kaiser Chiefs!

165. Scissor Sisters - Filthy/Gorgeous (2005) - Now 60! - Also, one of my main favourites by the Scissor Sisters, such a fun track!

164. Lana Del Rey - Born to Die (2012) - Now 81! - Also, this is another great song. I appreciate the dark theme and moody lyrics.

163. The Beach Boys - I Get Around (1964) - What a band! I love this sound of the 50's and 60's! Such great surf music!

162. Snow - Informer (1993) - Now 24! - Scribbybopdoobelamonaleo! I licky boom boom down! Such a bad interpretation of the chorus! - Great song though, nonetheless!

161. Rachel Stevens - Sweet Dreams My LA Ex (2003) - Now 56! - Also, this came out of nowhere after S Club had split, haha!

160. Disclosure ft. Sam Smith - Latch (2012)

The first of two Disclosure tracks to feature, starting with 'Latch'. This was of course their debut and also Sam Smith's debut, and what a debut it is for both of them! Simply gorgeous lyrics, production, vocals and video to match, utterly stunning. Whilst I've remained a fan of Disclosure for their unique production and interesting collaborations, Sam Smith has yet to keep me on board with his solo stuff.

159. Eve ft. Gwen Stefani - Let Me Blow Ya Mind (2001)

What a way to address the haters! This track is an absolute jam, two feisty women in Eve and Gwen telling us that they aren't going anywhere and doing it with such conviction. The production that carries this message along is also very cool indeed and makes for a very catchy end product. A wonderful bit of early noughties hip-hop/R&B.

158. Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Murder On The Dancefloor (2001)

Definitely a guilty pleasure pop gem right here! A track about competitiveness yet it doesn't come off serious whatsoever, it's in fact so much fun and one of those songs to let your hair down and just enjoy rather than trying to delve any deeper. Very catchy indeed and Sophie looks gorgeous in the video!

157. The Beatles - Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds (1967)

YouTube comments are always like "HAHA it spells out LSD oMG!!!". Apparently, it's actually based on a drawing crafted by a young Julian Lennon that he called 'Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds'. The track is another bizarre psychedelic one, but this time from the acclaimed 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band' era that is a tad creepy but so brilliant at the same time once again due to the word-play and imagery. John's vocals pulled off this unorthodox style so well.

156. Kylie Minogue - Love At First Sight (2002)

Gotta love a bit of Kylie! WHAT a transformation from the '90's indie' phase, she was truly on fire during the noughties! This track is so feel-good and boasts a really strong chorus. What an era 'Fever' was for her. This is definitely up there with her best!

155. Marina and the Diamonds - Primadonna (2012)

I've always found Marina a bit overrated and style over substance, but what a glorious exception this track is! It's about a persona who wants everything handed to her because she's just that great, which is not something that I support at all, but despite this subject matter it totally works without sounding big headed in song. Maybe because Marina stated herself that it's supposed to be ironic and tongue and cheek. Loving it, really great production too. Still an injustice that Justin Bieber deprived her of that coveted top 10!

154. Jamelia - See It In A Boy's Eyes (2004)

Wow this absolutely gorgeous, but with Chris Martin lending a hand on songwriting duties I wouldn't expect anything less. Really hauntingly beautiful piano production with Jamelia's equally beautiful vocals on top. Written about the relatable relationship issue of someone not speaking up about an issue when you can clearly see something is up, she really delivered with this.

153. Gossip - Standing In the Way of Control (2007)

Ooh I remember thinking this was something really different and interesting in the charts at the time, as 2007 was the year I properly started following them. A track written by lead singer Beth Ditto to encourage people not to give up as she wrote it as a response to her government's decision to deny gay rights in the U.S. I can feel the passion through her vocals, the guitar sounds excellent and the 'oh, oh ohhh' hook is so catchy.

152. David Guetta Vs The Egg - Love Don't Let Me Go (Walking Away) (2006)

A bit of electronic delight here, back when David Guetta was actually pretty excellent. Of course the production is huge and completely makes the song an absolute jam, but soulful vocals provided by Chris Willis also really enhance this too. I wish David Guetta would go back to making stuff as good as this.

151. Amy MacDonald - This Is The Life (2007)

A track that feels so much bigger than it's lacklustre chart peak! I used to love singing along to this although for a while the lyrics were pretty indecipherable so I'd get a lot of them wrong! This has really stood the test of time for me and is just as pleasant as ever, really infectious indeed.

Hi Jade, crikey 11 of my number ones in the latest batches! Faaabulous. I was mad on You Really Got Me when I was 15, I got to hear it on a 60's album I bought, so exciting. I was also mad on the Ting Tings and was proud to play it to my 15-year-old nephew to say "that'll be number one in a few weeks" and got street-cred kudos (a bit) when it did

Beatles, Kinks, Ting Tings, Beach Boys, Eve, Sophie, Kylie, Kaisers, Gossip, Coldplay, Armand, lana....and more. Great taste in music, as always!

Look forward to the next ones :yahoo:

cheers

152. David Guetta Vs The Egg - Love Don't Let Me Go (Walking Away) (2006) - Now 65! - Also, this was before David Guetta was "cool".

151. Amy MacDonald - This Is The Life (2007) - Now 69! - Her music is so traditional, that's why it didn't chart as high as it should have. Such a good tune though.

Thanks for all the lovely comments as per usual! And I think I was too young to remember if the Kylie track was overplayed on the radio  That really would've made me a geeky 5 year old!

(Will do the next section tonight, was busy yesterday)
