Avicii told MTV News back in September that Nile Rodgers would be making another appearance on the new album, and now Rolling Stone has announced more very unexpected collaborators, including Chris Martin and Billie Joe Armstrong. While the producer’s first album stood out for its bluegrass and country influence, it sounds like Avicii’s second album will take on another genre to mash with his electronic roots: rock & roll.

The list of contributors goes on with Jon Bon Jovi, Wyclef Jean, Matisyaho and Serj Tankian of System of a Down. We can only hope Madonna will make an appearance. According to Avicii, born Tim Bergling, this group of musicians are helping him achieve something new with his second album.

“It’s going to be a lot more song-oriented,” he told RS. “True was an attempt at that, getting electronic music in a song format.”

Among the 70 songs that Avicii already produced is “No Pleasing a Woman,” his track with Billie Joe Armstrong, and a duet between Wyclef Jean and Matisyahu that he describes as reggae. Avicii and Chris Martin worked together recently on Coldplay’s “A Sky Full of Stars” that Avicii co-produced, and it sounds like there professional relationship has blossomed into an unexpected friendship.

“Chris has been like a brother,” Bergling told the mag. This friendship will probably do wonders for their music… can’t wait to see what they have been working on.

OMG  It's happening http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/ed2305b7.png Can't wait to hear what Avicii has for us this time!

I wonder if Avicii could propel this mini mainstream reggae movement to further heights? Intrigued to hear that Wyclef collab!

I meant a reissue with new tracks, not a remix album.

Oh. That isn't happening (thankfully, it's about time he moved on)

True was a magnificent album, truly enjoyable, is Lay me Down having an official release as a single???

I look forward to new material from Avicii, and it is looking very promising from reading this.

'Lay Me Down' has been and gone a couple of weeks ago sadly. :(

Shame as it was by far the best track on True.

For me it was one of the worst  Which means it's still good but I'm glad he chose Addicted to You over that as the 2nd post-album single (it was obvious that Hey Brother would be the first as it was by far the most popular album track)

01 Wake Me Up

02 Hey Brother

03 Addicted To You

04 You Make Me

05 Lay Me Down

Anyway the song title 'Lay Me Down' is probably cursed. That's why it flopped :P

Rumoured to be released some time in 2015, according to a 'Q&A' post on his Facebook page.

The exact date hasn’t been decided yet, but I’m thinking next year. The first single The Days from the album is coming October 3 and Im gonna try to realease as many singles as possible before the album actually drops

He 'answered' a few other questions regarding his 'evolution' and the number of singles he has prepared that could make the final cut. The Facebook post is from September 22nd - if it helps, could someone else link it? I haven't posted enough yet!

good to see Avicii releasing more than one pre-album single. Hopefully a non-Q4 release works out for him, certainly it'll make him less likely to get overshadowed by bigger releases.
Hopefully the title means that We Write The Story makes an appearance *.*

Maybe we should be expecting a 'The Days/Nights' EP release before the album. There is absolutely zero hype around 'The Days', but maybe 'The Nights' could fare better?

The Nights is amazing and 100% should have picked as the first single over the rather boring The Days. I love that the instrumental riff is more prominent.
I just checked and The Days' pre-order has been removed  (it was there a few days ago)
