He, like every other member, was created by Jamie Hewlett and Damon Albarn. He is the self-proclaimed 'leader' of the band and often makes attempts to boss the other members into doing things his way. Due to his awkward appearance at birth, he was often ridiculed as a child, which may be the reason for his attitude. He is sadist, worships Satan, and is very conceited and selfish. Most of the other members don't really like him, but he did technically create the band and is the main bassist, therefore making the idea of kicking him out null and void. He is also a former speed addict, has problems with personal hygiene, and takes pleasure in other's pain. He is also very fond of sexual intercourse and all things dark and manifesting. His main influences are the likes of Black Sabbath and Rob Zombie, and he is also known to be very prophetic and inspiring despite his anti-Christianity. 2D's ex-girlfriend Paula was the band's original guitarist. She was ultimately dropped and replaced with Noodle after Paula was caught having an affair with Murdoc in the studio restroom. The state of Murdoc's nose today is a direct result of Russel breaking it in seven or eight different places. This would not be the last affair Murdoc would have with one of 2D's girlfriends; the second affair was with Rachel Stevens of S Club 7. Edited December 19, 200619 yr by Y!kes

He takes much liking to Hip-Hop and has changed after the drive-by death of his friends. Supposedly all the souls of his friends went inside him, giving him amazing hip-hop prowess and eerie white eyes. Prior to this posession he was posessed by demons for many years before having them exorcised. The spirits that have contributed to Gorillaz records so far are Del Tha Funkee Homosapien and Phi Life Cypher (it is unclear whether other rappers on Gorillaz records are actually spirits or regular collaborators). Del was exorcised in late 2003 and it took a year for Russel to fully recover, and in some ways he would never be the same. Her past remained a mystery during Phase One (album one), but some light was shone on it during Phase Two. At age 10, Noodle arrived on the Gorillaz' doorstep in a FedEx crate, in response to the ad they placed for a guitarist in the NME. She previously could not speak any English beyond the word "Noodle," (thus earning her the nickname) although oddly enough, she has in recent times discovered her ability to actually speak fluent English. Among her influences are Haiku poetry, Loa Zi, & Richie Sambora. As she has recently discovered about her own past, she is actually a powerful experimental Japanese super-soldier. Her interests include the Powerpuff Girls, Tamagotchi pets, Pokemon, Yo-yo's, and her radio headphone hat. In November 2003, Noodle went back to Japan to find out the truth about her past. only to found out that she was a test subject in a secret government super soldier project. In March 2006, a series of events surrounding the release of the new Gorillaz video "El Manana" led some fans to believe she is dead.

He is known to have been intimidated by Murdoc (the Gorillaz bass player), around the period of their first album, yet after going back and working at his family's fair at his place of birth, he realized he was the "real driving force behind the Gorillaz", and so was able to return and work with more confidence on their second studio album Demon Days. 2D was in fact not always known as "2D." Before joining Gorillaz, he had been known as "Stu-Pot." It has been rumoured that his actual name is "Stuart Tusspot" but this has never been confirmed. His jump in music took place when Murdoc, the self-proclaimed leader of the band, purposefully crashed his Vauxhall Astra through the wall of Uncle Norm's Organ Emporium where 2D had been working. "Stu-Pot," as he was still called at the time, then fell into a coma; his right eye was dented inward from the crash. Murdoc, meanwhile, had been sentenced to carry out 30,000 hours of community service as well as care for the vegetablized 2D for 10 hours every week. Not long after, in a poor attempt to impress some women, Murdoc performed a 360-degree spin in with his vehicle, which sent 2D crashing through the windshield. This woke 2D up from his coma, but also dented his left eye to match his right one, thus gaining him his trademark black, pupiless eyes as well as earning him the nickname "2D" from Murdoc; ironically enough, the origins of the name "2D," at least in the context of the fictional background story of the Gorillaz, have nothing to do with the phrase "two-dimensional" as one would assume, but rather stands for the two dents in his eyes.
