Evidently you know little of my music tastes, so don't suggest otherwise.

I hope my 1.23 sales for Tough Love help Jessie remain in the top 40.

6. Ariana Grande - Break Free (feat. Zedd)

95. Katy Perry - This Is How We Do

108. Support Adoption For Pets - You and Me Song

130. Grimes - Go (feat. Blood Diamonds)

Grimes climbing  Hope 'Go' can somehow be a top 40 hit, it would really freshen the chart up
What a stupid move from Ariana this is. A mid-week release for Break Free, and it won't even be chart eligible for a few weeks because it's an instant grat alongside Problem :drama:

But if it has streaming sales, would they be chart-eligible?

But if it has streaming sales, would they be chart-eligible?

I guess so, but it won't have enough streaming sales to make an impact in the chart

With 'Thinking Out Loud' still significantly higher.

lol yeah. I wonder if/when it'll overtake it. I think it probably will since I can't see Don't missing the top 10, whilst I can't see Thinking Out Loud making top 10 just off Heart FM airplay (or mainly that).

This reminds me of the Beyonce XO/Drunk In Love situation, Drunk In Love was the CLEAR favourite of all the tracks on 'BEYONCÉ' but the label were pushing for XO to be the lead single. But Drunk In Love being so popular totally overshadowed it, and both tracks suffered as a result.

In the same way, the label needs to realise that Thinking Out Loud is the obvious favourite track on 'x' (besides Sing of course), they need to push 'Don't' back, and give Thinking Out Loud all the space it needs to shine. Otherwise, both tracks are gonna peak in the mid-teens.

I'm sure Beyonce manages herself so it would have been her decision to release two singles, one for urban radio and one for commercial, I don't think she expected Drunk In Love to do better tbh

I'm sure Beyonce manages herself so it would have been her decision to release two singles, one for urban radio and one for commercial. It's just that one was more successful than the other.

That only makes sense in the US where 'urban radio' is a thing (I know such stations exist in the UK but they're not really anything more than a niche). In the UK 'Drunk In Love' wasn't a current single at all for most of its chart run.

I really don't see much of an issue with the 'Don't'/'Thinking Out Loud' situation and think the label was right not to switch singles. Ed's level of popularity means that they can co-exist and probably still both achieve a top 10 placing at some point. 'Don't' has just been A-listed on Radio 1 and a video was released a few days ago so it's still too early to say that it'll underperform due to 'Thinking Out Loud' being ahead (if an underperformance is seen as anything lower than top 10). Even if it doesn't get there, having two (nearly three) songs currently in the iTunes top 20 isn't exactly doing any harm to album sales (which is the primary focus)! I've always thought 'Thinking Out Loud' has a classic feel to it, not unlike 'Someone Like You', so I don't think its current charting will damage its potential peak too much. I'd assume it'll get an X Factor performance and be hammered on radio throughout Q4, as mr_aly has said.
Yeh Dont will go top 10/20 in the coming weeks and Thinking will get an XF performance and be massive right up until the new year and sell alot in the long run like the album - not sure where both will peak though!
Don't is now on the verge of re-overtaking anyway (only lagging by 4 places and it'll continue to catch up as its airplay increases).

pre-order update

I hope Don't can make the Top Ten. It's a really catchy song and I can imagine Thinking Out Loud making the Top 5 later in the year which Don't may have not been able to do so maybe it was a smart decision to not switch the singles :)
