I did enjoy my first listen through. End of the Affair is wonderful, that was pretty instant whereas I Forget Where We Were took a while to grow.

I wasn't a fan of his debut, but I'm loving this after a couple of listens!

Seems a lot more atmospheric, reminds me of Laura Marling in some places.

I'm properly in love with this album after four full listens since yesterday! Likely to become my new study soundtrack :magic:. It all flows incredibly well - very cohesive throughout but not without its standouts, namely 'I Forgot Where We Were', 'She Treats Me Well', 'Time Is Dancing', 'Evergreen' and 'End Of The Affair'.

I totally approve of the new direction, he could have so easily fallen into a Ed Sheeran 'New Boring' trap by doing an album load of "Only Love" or "Keep Your Head Up" clones, but this is so much better. Perfect listening for my favourite season Autumn.

Anyone else hear a bit of the 'Boss' on the title track?

YES completely - struck me from the first time I heard it!

This album just keeps giving more with every listen. It's wonderful, I possibly even prefer it to his debut which is something I never thought I'd be saying...

Seems that's my favourite album of 2014!

The first part of End Of The Affair is D.Rice and the second is U2's The Unforgettable Fire and better than their new album at all.

Time Is Dancing is amazing too. Though a title track, In Dreams, She Treats Me Well are among picks of the album.

Thank to Ben for getting thoughts and images in my mind while listening.

Was expecting something radically different from the debut going on some of the comments, but it's quite a nice/natural progression from that i find, yet still being very him. 'Evergreen' is wonderful.

Really liking the more brooding sound he's gone for, and it makes a nice counterpart to 'Every Kingdom'; it's like one is light and the other is shade (with the artwork too) so it's hard to compare because i'll be liking one more than the other depending on my mood i think.

Liking his new single Rivers in Your Mouth. Thanks to hearing it on R1 a lot!

So I went to see him at his Alexandra Palace gig last Saturday and musically it was amazing, it sounded so much better live than I thought it all would. The only downside was that he didn't do a lot to engage the crowd so anyone who wasn't there to just appreciate the musicianship ended up drifting into chatter etc which kinda ruined some of the performances... the highlight was definitely 'End of the Affair' which worked exactly as well as you would imagine it could as a set closer. Keep Your Head Up worked surprisingly well when transformed into the sound of his second album too.

Oh and this album just continued to grow and grow on me, think this would have been my album of the year in the end if I had decided upon such a thing.
