October 12, 201411 yr Can someone tell me what this potential Only the young have? I cant thing of anything less cool and current than a mixed pop group. The ones of recent times are usually a female singer with male rappers that actually succeed. I cant see them doing anything on the show that doesn't look completely dated.
October 12, 201411 yr Well we currently do not have a mixed group on the scene at the moment, they are very polished (much more so than the two boybands) and all have great charisma. I do think they need newer/fresher songs to excite the audience, I think they are currently the dark horses of the competition.
October 12, 201411 yr For me 2 of the four of them (the 2 blonde ones) have really weak voices. I just cringe when they are on screen, maybe it is just me. Sometimes there is not something out there because there is no demand for it. Edited October 12, 201411 yr by sammy01

I can't really think of anyone who has been around & successful as a mixed gender pop group for ages. Struggling to think of anyone since Steps & S Club 7, in the UK! Still, personally I find it refreshing and I welcome it! That's where I see them having potential, they're different and it's something that hasn't been successful for years - but they're very talented and polished, so with the right direction it could work. The two boy bands are just more of the same - between the 13 boys they all look like they've come from the same factory, very identikit. To be fair, the two boys in Only The Young are from exactly the same mould as well and would blend easily as other faceless boys if they were in a boy group. At least their overall package with the two girls gives them more of an edge. Hopefully they survive for a few more weeks.

When will your fave score 2 Top 5 hits over a 7 year period? :heart: I wonder which act will be the one who leaves first outright without even being in the sing-off? It'll be a shame if any of them leave in those circumstances, other than Stevi or Overload Generation...
October 12, 201411 yr Author It's definitely going to be either Stephanie or Blonde Electra who are dead last :( I just hope the sing-off rids us of Overload Generation (ideally) or Stevi out of the plausible choices.

Luminites had a top 75 smash last year though! But yes I think Only The Young have so much potential, they are great singers and in my opinion totally outperformed the rest of the groups category. I'd love them to bring back the guitar next week as I think that could make them that little bit "cooler" that some people are saying they need to be.
