Luke Friend confirmed tonight at The Vamps' tour that his debut single is called Hole In My Heart and is out in early 2015 through Sony :D

A short video of him performing it while busking in London earlier:

LOVING the sound of it

Officially confirmed as the first single now, and it's released 29th March :D Hopefully it premieres soon, really excited for a studio version of this.

Up for pre-order on Monday 9th Feb! So so excited to hear this.

I'm quite interested to hear how this sounds also. He was my 2nd favourite contestant that year (after Abi Alton :heehee:) and always thought he'd have the best chance for subsequent success.

The song sounded fantastic live, I think it's got hit potential definitely. Really hoping Radio 1 back him, he sounds like their kind of artist definitely!

Luke's one of my favourite X Factor contestants ever, backed him right from the start and it's rare that my favourite makes the final, let alone gets a record deal

I could see that backing too. He's a lot more alternative than your "traditional" X Factor output I suppose you could say (ahem Nicholas McDonald) so could find a market there. He strikes me as perhaps more of an album artist though so even if there's no mega hit he could possibly shift a few albums?

I was a bit unsure on him through the first half of the show, think it was his fantastic performance of Kiss From A Rose that won me over.

His performance of Kiss From a Rose was definitely one of his best! I'm always very biased towards my favourites during X Factor so I enjoyed each and every performance at the time  looking back though, his only dodgy one was in Big Band week I think it was, singing a song totally out of his comfort zone anyway.

You're right about him likely being a bigger album artist than singles artist, any kind of success for him is good for me though. I can see this single going at least top 40, depending on the support he gets really. I feel like he'll also appeal to the Capital FM demographic, he's got a little fanbase of teenage girls :heehee:

Kimberley Walsh has really let her looks go to shit since having that baby.
Yes it's very good on first listen, I'm interested to see if it will get better or annoying with future listens but it's a great debut single anyhow! And haha at me listening to this before Joseph! :kink:
This sounds quite good! Great lead single, could see him doing quite well with his debut album. :)
Strangely this is reminding me of Lindsay Lohan's incredible 'Confessions of a Broken Heart' particularly in the choruses!

oh my GOD

That sound is wonderful  It better smash cause it really deserves to!!

And shush Ryan!!1! :kink: I was asleep OK :heehee:

That's really, really good! He was my second favourite on the show in 2013 (though as much out of there being nobody else very good bar Tamera) and this definitely surpasses the expectations I had. It's a lot more pop than I expected, which is obviously a good thing. I was expecting something more bland and tuneless Ed Sheeran lite and crap.

These days, for X-Factor alumni, it really takes a lot to impress me, and that one has done it, it doesn't feel bland or desperately trying to appeal, it just feels musical. Especially the title drop, that works really well before the launch.

I actually had very little idea of the sort of music he'd be at home with, so this is a bit of surprise.

I couldn't stand him on the X Factor, but I have to admit that's quite good.

It's an awful feeling isn't it :snif:

Can definitely see Radio 1 potentially backing this too, it's the sort of thing I could hear them playing.

If anyone wants an MP3, just drop me a PM.
