Just wondering who on earth still writes out the chart on paper. I used to till the end of 1999, I have 3 lever arch files dating back to 1979. A lot easier on a PC, as you can correct entries if you made any errors.

i used to when i followed the chart around 2007-2010 but not anymore really.

I still write them in books!

Computer definitely as the spreadsheet allows it to get done quicker and then of course I copy and paste it into the top 100s thread (I only have spreadsheets for singles sales and audio streaming as the other charts are bre's job to type out)

but nah i kid paper is awesome <3 the only time i'd ever 'write out' charts would be on a computer really, though it'd be more for ~prediction~ purposes if anything (typing out what next week's chart may look like)

Used to use paper and pen up until about 1996, since then it's been computer only.

Assuming you mean official charts, why bother? Apart from Bjers who type up the charts weekly :D

 

 

I keep some BJSC results on paper for some bizarre reason, but other than that I'll either passively observe what you guys have posted or on rare occasion I'll input the sales-only or radio charts into a spreadsheet.

I did from 1988 until about 1993 when I got my first word processor..............I feel so old now............

When I taped the chart, I used to write every position (Artist Only) on the tape sleeve I did start to have different colour pens for each statistic, Blue for a down, Black for a non mover, Silver for a climber & Gold for a new entry, I did start to add colour from highlighter pens also, different colour for each statistic. I used Metal position tape a some point, I had about 3 years worth on cassette racks up on my bedroom wall. I moved house so not all came with me.

Haha, same here :) And back then it was really hard to get the charts in full (at least for me), and was almost impossible to get the archive.

 

Currently I save everything in the database on my NAS/Mac :)

I used to obsessively write the charts down when I was younger but not as much now since the number of new entries per chart has dropped so much though I do still do it to an extent but only if its a special week or a lot of new tracks appear mostly I keep the Christmas charts but that's it now

I must be in the minority but I write up both charts (top 100 singles and albums). I started writing it up since 2006 (top 75 for both) and then the top 100 from 2010. I don't trust computers lol

I lost all information on PC four times in last 7 years, but still have UK charts on paper from 1999 to 2005.

Also have printed UK Singles Top 40 from 1970-1972 period.

Don't have any interest in the current charts, because dislike 90-99 % songs from them.

I used to write the Top 40 into Jotters/Books as I listened to the rundown on a Sunday evening religiously in the late 80's. 1988 was the main year I think - but not since

I used to listen to the countdown of the new chart on a Tuesday lunchtime and I wrote up the chart from 1981 until around 1991.
