#20 is hardly bad for Nicole, it did have to climb from very low down after all.

If this can get top 20 officially for her I think that's a very good result.

18. Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds - In The Heat Of The Moment

21. Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds - Do The Damage (Bonus Track)

We know the top 3 for Sunday at this early stage.

01 Band Aid

02 Clean Bandit

03 Olly Murs.

I will be shocked if anything other than that happens.

This just impossible and total nonsense. iTunes is a rolling chart, and she performed on the X Factor only like 16 hours ago, so by now there is no way she would have already dropped 10 places.

We can see it every week, when a song is performed on the X Factor, it takes a few hours to reach its peak and then it stalls there for about 24h or more.

So no, Nicole didn't get any higher than that.

But if she had been shown at #20 on iTunes yesterday that would've provided more exposure than being #130, so it could be a bit higher now.

Lee's point is that because iTunes froze, Nicole's song has lacked visibility higher up the iTunes chart, until the last hour. People will have had to specifically search for it for longer period of time, so that could have impacted on the more casual purchases of the song if it had been showing at a much higher place last night.

Maybe being as high as Top 10 is a stretch, but it could potentially have been higher than #20 at this point.

You've completely misread my post :D

Had iTunes not frozen the song would have been much higher following her X-Factor performance rather than being stuck at #135 for 12 hours after. The higher 'Run' would have been on iTunes would have benefited her immensely as people took more notice of 'Like I Can' which helped it go top 10 on iTunes.

Well, I still don't think it would have happened. The top 10 effect is real because it gives a feature on the main page. Getting #20 on iTunes would have never pushed her into the top10, especially when the gap is so big.

Anyway, if you're right, she should climb a lot now that she is more "visible" at #20, so we'll see who's right. ;)

I assume you failed at Close Reading English because you're still not getting what I said. She will receive less of a climb despite her being visible at #20 because her performance was over 12 hours ago, had it been #20 at 9pm last night it would have at least managed to go top 15.

:D

The effect is obviously going to be less now because the performance was last night

I'm pretty disappointed in the Band Aid track. I think some of the singers sound genuinely terrible.

However, I'm really intrigued to see how much of a lead it has built up already. Hopefully it updates soon and we get some percentages.

Maybe not top 10, I think Nicole could have been top 15. I'm certain Lee is right about the visibility. Itunes visibility does make a difference. I think Clean Bandit may have overtaken Olly's initial boost on iTunes from X factor because they were viable at #1 for a long time when they shouldn't have been.

But who knows. Either way, I think she could still climb a couple of places.

I didn't failed that test because I'm not English so I didn't take it.

Anyway, I still think you're xagerating the top20 effect because :

- If people watched the performance and wanted to buy it base on that performance, they would buy it even if it's not showing at #20,

- If people didn't watch the performance but would only hear about the song because of iTunes, they will still see it at #20 now so it won't change a thing.

But I guess we only have to agree to disagree. :)

I don't think it would have made an ha'peth of difference. If people were interested in buying it, they wouldn't have had to work too hard to find it.
