Songs of the Year

37 Luke Friend - Take On the World - 1-2-5-11-17-... (5+ weeks)

38 Professor Green - Lullaby (feat. Tori Kelly) - 6-6-10-17-15-21-29-... (7+ weeks)

Professor Green really surprised me with Lullaby. I've never been that huge a fan of his but this song is stunning, helped by the beautiful vocals of Tori Kelly! This track entered my chart the same week as the Cheryl/1D/Carrie battle so it sadly missed the top 5. It had a decent run following that though and is sat nicely in the top 40 of the year, very much deserved! Just above is last year's X Factor 3rd place contestant, Luke Friend. Take On the World was released as a free download two months ago and unsurprisingly went straight to #1 in my chart. Definitely one of my all-time favourite contestants and hoping he's deservedly big in 2015! (oh and he's stunning but he's an acquired taste, I do realise lmao)

Songs of the Year

35 Melissa Steel - Kisses For Breakfast (feat. Popcaan) - 7-5-7-11-14-13-14-18-21-30-32-X (11 weeks)

36 Jessie J, Ariana Grande & Nicki Minaj - Bang Bang - 1-3-12-20-11-15-23-26-30-37-29-37-31-38-39-X (15 weeks)

J-J-J-J-JESSIE J. Bang Bang propelled Jessie to her first ever #1 in my chart and into the top 40 EOY, albeit lower than #4 peaking Wild's EOY #30 position last year. Nicki Minaj also achieved her first #1 with this, and Ariana's third, all within 2014. Bang Bang initially had a TERRIBLE run, spending only two weeks top 10 and almost out of the top 20 after 4 weeks, but it ended up having great longevity and ending up with a very respectable 15 weeks on the chart, not bad going. Got boring quickly but I also got back into it quickly and still love it now. Just above it at #35 is Melissa Steel's debut hit as a solo artist. Kisses For Breakfast was recommended to me by a girl in my Media class and was love at first listen. I was all set to send it to BJSC but of course, it blew up pretty much in the week of confirmations and I changed my entry to save mods the effort of vetoing. Could've been the first Bellamian entry to become a UK top 10 hit  Still claiming it as a Bellamian success tbf.

Songs of the Year

33 5 Seconds of Summer - Good Girls - 28-14-22-30-32-X-39-39-X-9-13-18-21-25-31-... (13+ non-consecutive weeks)

34 Ariana Grande - Break Free (feat. Zedd) - 1-3-5-9-15-24-22-25-21-22-31-35-38-X (13 weeks)

More Ariana Grande now, like a deli, feawayyyeahhhhh babe. Being the queen of bad diction didn't stop her having a fab year in Bellamia, Break Free was the second of three #1s for her in 2014, although before long it ended up behind Problem oops. Break Free got boring quite quickly sadly but like Bang Bang, I got into it again which resulted into some decent longevity in the top 30. Such a great singalong track. Next up, the second highest 5SOS track of the countdown, most recent single Good Girls. The track has since re-peaked at #3 (the third time repeaking in its chart life) and would've been a huge missed opportunity for a release if it didn't happen, so its floppage officially doesn't disappoint me!

Bang Bang is amazing, such a powerful star collab *.* Csnt believe the hate it gets, but then it is Jessie J...

don't shade Liam like that.

If it were Rihanna, Ariana and Nicki, it would be loved more. People will just hate Jessie for no reason. I find her annoying as a person but cannot deny her music!

Songs of the Year

31 Beyoncé - Drunk In Love (feat. Jay Z) - 15-22-30-3-4-6-9-12-18-26-35-37-X (12 weeks)

32 One Direction - Steal My Girl - 2-2-5-1-4-7-12-... (7+ weeks)

Next up we have the lead single from One Direction's fourth album, aptly titled FOUR. Steal My Girl was kept off #1 for three weeks (two of which by Cheryl's I Don't Care, the third by Cheryl and three other songs) before FINALLY becoming their eighth chart topper. I've bumped this up a little from its original position of around #38. A victim of another song being bumped up (namely Night Changes), Drunk In Love had to give up its top 30 position but still finds itself nicely in the top 40. Drunk In Love was a huge grower for me (as that chart run shows) and is head and shoulders above anything on the most recent Bey album.

uh wish break free never got that crap release over here, really wish it got a t10 peak. i wish love me harder would reach the top 40 too but i guess that aint gonna happen now, hope she is the next big star though because her music is on point

kisses for breakfast is so sweet and catchy, everything she's doing at the moment is v good so im excited for an album from her if it's a similar sound to this.

do you know what joe, i shall let you in on a little secret, i am actually a bit of fan of 'steal my girl'

everything else isn't to my taste, especially popcorn kisses!!!

Luke Fiend in your Top 40? No thank you x

Steal My Girl is surprisingly low! :o And you purport to love them http://i.imgur.com/afzo58U.gif

Bang Bang, Break Free & Drunk In Love are all very *.* worthy!

Thanks for all the comments guys :D

Bang bang and break free are both amazing and Ariana's vocals slay on both of them

I also adore drunk in love and kisses for breakfast

Ariana has been on FIRE this year!

Break Free's release was a MESS. Deserved way more than #16 but it had a decent enough top 40 run I guess for a #16! Love Me Harder isn't doing much for me sadly, hasn't made it higher than #40 in my chart oops.

Melissa's album is one of my most anticipated for 2015, I hope she puts it out early summer because if it's like Kisses For Breakfast, it will be perfect for that time of year!

Love the last two and both are still to feature in my own countdown if i do say so myself :magic:

You do say they're the shit, if you do say so yourself? :heehee: :P :heehee:

Oh gosh :o Steal My Girl seems to be appealing to lots outside their usual fanbase which is a very good sign! It's not one of my favourites by them sadly but it works perfectly as the first single.

 Fair enough! Kisses For Breakfast is quite...tacky in a way, but I can't help loving it

Songs of the Year

http://i759.photobucket.com/albums/xx240/MarthaJonesFan/Cover%20Sleeves/TomOdell-IKnow-1.pnghttp://i759.photobucket.com/albums/xx240/MarthaJonesFan/Cover%20Sleeves/RitaOra-IWillNeverLetYouDown.png

29 Tom Odell - I Know - 27-9-15-17-8-6-4-2-4-7-11-15-23-28-33-39-37-X (17 weeks)

30 Rita Ora - I Will Never Let You Down - 1-2-6-10-12-15-19-24-23-26-31-39-X (12 weeks)

Into the top 30, we find Rita Ora, with her second #1 in my chart (and she later achieved a third, more on that later). I Will Never Let You Down was love at first listen and was the first shared #1 for my chart and the UK chart of 2014! Calvin's production in the track is great and I'd love an album of this kinda thing from her. Shame she's had to scrap it all, silly Calvin. She'll be happy to know she's 71 places higher than Calvin's only entry in the top 250, and she still has another track to come :heehee:

Tom Odell makes his first appearance of two, with the fifth single from debut album Long Way Down at #29. I Know was his smallest hit in the chart to date (as to be expected with a 5th single from a decent-selling album), but was of course a big hit for me, as anything Tom does is. I'd rank I Know his 2nd worst single but that's not saying much when all six singles are pretty fantastic and are/would have been top 10 hits had I known about them at the time :kink:
