Songs of the Year

27 Caroline Brooks - Parachute - 2-4-9-7-13-20-32-39-X (8 weeks)

28 Lea Michele - Cannonball - 3-2-3-4-9-14-21-23-31-X (9 weeks)

BREAKDOWN. Lea Michele cannonballs (:heehee:) into #28 with her debut single. I'm no Glee fan but this song was a huge pleasant surprise for me, I thoroughly enjoyed it and her voice sounds great on it. Wish it would've been able to crack the top 40 here but alas, no radio support. Not even Capital :(

From one #2 hit to another, the third highest of my 2014 BJSC entries is next, from Caroline Brooks. Parachute was instant love for me when I discovered it (late one Saturday night lol), and was denied #1 by Hunter Hayes' new (at the time) single Invisible (still to come). Parachute DNQ'ing absolutely KILLED me as it really did deserve more but it almost made the top 10 in the Rejects so I can't moan anymore :kink:

IWNLYD is fantastic, really happy she got another #1 too. Hope her album is strong too despite it all having to be scrapped. I think this is her best single now a little way ahead of How We Do (Party). I'm quite a fan of her on the whole though :funky:
Missed quite a bit Josephine, but it's all marvellous of course. Ulrik being denied top 40 is a disgrace though x

Exactly the same as me :o I'm really looking forward to her album, I enjoyed ORA a lot although I hope the next album is a bit more cohesive!

That's more down to how recent it is tbf :heehee: and it's just outside!!1!

Cannonball is great and is I'll never let you down is Rita's best single so I'm glad to see those 2 high here

Yay for another Cannonball fan! So so underrated

I Will never let you down is pretty sick tbh :music: Glad it's done well on your chart Joe ^_^

It's fantastic, such a jam *.*

25 Paloma Faith - Only Love Can Hurt Like This - 24-X-40-34-7-3-2-4-12-16-20-22-28-32-37-X (14 non-consecutive weeks)

26 The Saturdays - Not Giving Up - 28-4-11-16-26-X-21-10-14-23-29-24-11-1-4-11-17-24-31-37-X (19 non-consecutive weeks)

James DIES as two of his faves are up now :heehee: First up we have The Saturdays and their floptastic UK #19 smash hit Not Giving Up. This was CRYING for release and its lack of support was very disheartening, especially following Disco Love which did reasonably well. Oh well. It's still an absolute jam and was ELECTRIC live *.* The song EVENTUALLY made #1 in my chart, once I finally had a good download of the radio mix (ie. release week lol). Its chart run looks like a bit of a mess but if we put them in numerical order, we get a nice chart run of 1-4-4-10-11-11-11-14-16-17-21-23-24-24-26-28-29-31-37-X which looks better :kink:

Paloma Faith makes her highest appearance at #25 with her best track, Only Love Can Hurt Like This. It was very pleasing to see this be such a huge UK hit for her despite Radio 1 blanking her, it's a beautiful track and her vocals are so on point. More like this please Paloma and less Trouble With My Baby/Ready For the Good Life!

Only love can hurt like this  Definitely one of the best and most beautiful songs this year so I am glad Paloma finally got a big hit

That trouble with my baby and ready for the good life shade though :drama: :drama:

Cannonball! A shame it didn't do better than it did.

Only Love Can Hurt Like This/Not Giving Up - both fantastic! My favourite Paloma single and another massive tune from The Saturdays.

Thanks both of you! :D

Ultraviolence - I don't hate either but I don't particularly love either, I'd say they're my two least fave Paloma singles :(

Jay - Cannonball deserved so much more! Totally agree about OLCHLT being Paloma's best too

23 The Vamps - Somebody To You (feat. Demi Lovato) - 39-X-5-3-3-1-2-4-6-5-6-7-10-11-14-17-23-26-30-32-36-39-X-36-X (22 non-consecutive weeks)

24 One Direction - Night Changes - 2-... (1+ weeks)

Time for a double dose of boyband action now, with 1D first up! Night Changes is the second single from the boys' fourth album and makes it to #24 despite being one of the most recent songs in the list. Night Changes is a gorgeous track and would no doubt have been a top 10 contender had it had more time, one of my favourites from them without a doubt. It was initially a fair bit lower, only just top 40, but I had to bump it up (and poor Beyoncé lost her top 30 position). The track entered at #2 but climbed to #1 in the following week (it was up against Tom Odell's Real Love in its 2nd week at first so had tough competition), giving them their 9th #1 in my chart to date.

Somebody To You is the first Vamps single of four to appear in this countdown (as Can We Dance was 2013 of course), I've always said it's the least good of their singles and I stand by that :heehee: It's fantastic though, a perfect choice for single 4 and I do love it, but just prefer the others. Demi sounds fantastic on it and this track gave her her first EVER #1 single http://profile.ak.fbcdn.net/hprofile-ak-xpa1/t5.0-1/41787_138659892838767_2273_q.jpg and a fourth #1 for The Vamps (Oh Cecilia then gave them their 5th out of 5). This track is their 2nd biggest hit in the UK, rightfully behind their best track Can We Dance :D

Somebody to you is my fbaourite or 2nd fbaourite vamps track (tied with can we dance). Both Re amazing and Demi sounds great on this

Night changes is also good, especially Harry's part

Naturally, I adore Harry's part, but he really does steal the show in Night Changes! I could listen to (and look at :kink:) him all day.

The Vamps are pretty (but much too young) but I can't get into their music really :(

1D need to just....FOAD.

LMAO they're the perfect age for me, I'll take all 4 ^_^

Can we spare Harry? :heehee:
