What really annoys me about all these so-called 90s-influenced deep house hits is that they're just so inferior to the music they're inspired by. They use a couple of vaguely 90s-inspired synths but use them in a bland, basic and generally piss-poor way and yet everyone falls over themselves with praise as if they're the best thing in years - worst of all, some of them are actually outselling their inspirations which just feels all wrong. Plus the euphoria's generally gone, it's all way too chilled and radio-friendly for me.

This is ok, but I wouldn't go as far as many of the replies in this thread.

Loving this! I agree with Aly, this is sounds like it could have come straight out of the 90s, rather than it merely being inspired by that decade of dance.

I just realised, elements of this musically reminded me of this little gem from way back in the day

It won't. Rather Be went top 10 on pre-orders and has far more appeal than this does.

Yeah, this. It's a great song but I can't see it sticking around for too long.

I think I didn't comment about the song, but this is amazing. This deserves to have a lot of success next year.

Vocals have been altered slightly. Guess they didn't get clearance/permission on the sample. Luckily it doesn't put me off the level that Nobody To Love did!
I expect big sales from "Uptown Funk" this Sunday if it's gonna keep this off #1
I thought this was a bit bland at first, but it's really clicked with me recently  It's so 90s it hurts, but a lot of the big hits last year were so another one would be most welcome.

I'm in love with this! There's something about it that really sets it apart from the rest, even though it has similarities to a lot of tracks in this current trend.
Yeah, this. It's a great song but I can't see it sticking around for too long.

It's so far heading for its third week at #2. It would have had two weeks at #1 if "Uptown Funk" wasn't rush released

Shapes remix was released on 25th October

In December, it will be the 10th anniversary of the song's official release.
