December 31, 201410 yr Young Girls was a fantastic single for Bruno I thin, maybe in his top three for me. Such a shame it never really took off, same with Gorilla which I think is very good too. Marry You is my favourite of his though. Let It Be was really fantastic, I loved the alien vocals in the chorus. Really different for a chart hit and the production is fantastic. Obviously he ruined it all by releasing Jealous.. If I Lose Myself is probably the only 1R song I really like, the dance spin on it from Alesso is really excellent and made me enjoy it much more. Glad it snatched a top 10 peak officially as I remember cheering it on.
December 31, 201410 yr Author Top 50 time :cheer: 50 : Embrace - Refugees (02.03.04.06.09.11.13.18.27.37.X4.R35.26) 12 Weeks 49 : Michael Jackson Ft Justin Timberlake - Love Never Felt So Good(04.04.04.06.08.01.04.07.13.22.28.36) 12 Weeks 48 : Kylie Minogue – Into the Blue (01.02.02.04.02.04.06.03.08.13.30.40) 12 Weeks 47 : Cher Lloyd - Sirens (23.31.X.R39.X.R30.35.X11.R16.10.08.22.30.28.36.38) 13 Weeks 46 : Mark Ronson Ft Bruno Mars - Uptown Funk (08.04.07.01.01.03.03) 7 Weeks 45 : Ella Eyre - Deeper (15.07.05.08.10.15.27.30.36.26.33.X2.R31.38) 13 Weeks 44 : Clean Bandit Ft Jess Glynne - Real Love (23.13.08.05.07.10.22.06.12.16.24.24.30) 13 Weeks 43 : Clean Bandit Ft Sharna Bass - Extraordinary (32.09.11.09.03.11.07.08.11.16.19.25.39) 13 Weeks 42 : Maroon 5 - Animals (20.16.27.35.30.11.05.03.02.03.06.19.39) 13 Weeks 41 : Coldplay - Magic (29.31.27.26.35.14.22.11.07.20.29.21.33.40) 14 Weeks So the 2nd of the two Embrace tracks is comeback single 'Refugees' at 50 following by the late King of Pop MJ with his remastered demo 'Love Never Felt So Good' featuring Justin Timberlake at #49. The goddess Kylie's return hit 'Into the Blue' is number 48 and to much surprise Cher Lloyd has released some good tracks this year, 'Sirens' is number 47. 'Uptown Funk' by Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars is number 46. Certainly Funking up the EOY charts after only two months since premier! 45 is the first track by one of my favourite singers this year... Ella Eyre who finished runner up to Sam Smith in the Critics choice award for 2014, 'Deeper' is 45. Clean Bandit make back to back appearances here with 'Real Love' and ' Extraordinary' leaving just one more to come. Any guesses  Maroon 5's very brutal 'Animals' is at 42 and 'Magic' by Coldplay is number 41. Unlucky!

At the end of last year, going into 2014 the next track was my big hit prediction for the new year, it proved to do well but not as well as I'd hoped as 'Changes' by Faul & Wad v Pnau drops by at 38. Everyones sick of this song now right? ... even me thanks to overplay, 'Stay With Me' is the last effort of Sam Smith's in my chart. The follow up to the almighty previous HUGE hit which is by Kiesza an Canadian singer-songwriter with 'Giant in my heart' at 36. Imagine Dragons at 35 with 'Demons' a song I didn't like too much at first but has grown on me so much due to being so relatable. Iggy's high school cheerleader hit 'Fancy' so far provides her with her highest position so far in my EOY history but could that change later on :o Big dance from Oliver Heldens next as 'Gecko' falls out at 33 featuring vocals by Voice UK Series 1 contestant Becky Hill. Finally the marmite song you just hate to love 'All About That Bass' by newcomer Meghan Trainor is 32 and Paloma is 31 with 'Only Love Can Hurt Like This', in this song Paloma pulls an impressive key change.

This song was written by Ella Eyre but her label decided to turn down the option of Ella singing on the track solely for wanting her to remain a solo artist. Shakira is 29 with 'Empire' and all the way from Los Angeles is new indie pop group Echosmith, an all sibling group. Their breakthrough hit 'Cool Kids' is 28. Maroon 5 are at 27 with their best song off the new album for me, the electronic 'It Was Always You' and Ed Sheeran is attempting to dance in the video for the 26th song on my EOY this year... 'Thinking Out Loud'. It's of course from his humongous selling album of the year X. Edited December 31, 201410 yr by Robert S
December 31, 201410 yr Author 21 : Christina Perri - Human (04.04.10.16.20.18.23.22.15.03.04.09.11.15.19.19.17.23.28.38) 20 weeks 22 : Ed Sheeran - Don't (35.40.16.06.10.11.15.12.13.07.06.06.07.11.14.17.24.26.33.39) 20 Weeks 23 : George Ezra – Budapest (17.01.01.03.06.08.08.08.17.28.31.35) 12 Weeks /// 2014 chart data only 24 : Paolo Nutini - Scream (Funk My Life Up) (19.15.16.25.35.X.R37.15.12.08.08.06.05.02.05.08.12.12.17.30) 19 Weeks 25 : John Legend - All of Me (03.04.05.06.05.05.06.04.06.06.07.09.10.14.20.29.31.35.38) 19 Weeks 'All of Me' enters at 25, it's the first song I've ever really liked by John Legend but admittedly the overplay and being in the charts forever is starting to make this tire on me in the past few months, it's also a song that I recorded this year which was met with positive praise by family and friends. Paolo is back again at 24, this time funking his way into my top 25 with Scream a supreme comeback single which is just so catchy and funky. Shame it seems to have dropped a bit in the last few months as it's definitely one of my favourite things he's ever done and is amongst my best songs of 2014. 'Budapest' was a song I first heard in October last year and I charted it for a few weeks. Completely unaware and taken by surprise was just how big and successful both George and this particular track became this year. It doesn't normally strike as something that people would lap up in this modern day and age for someone who sounds like he's got the voice and music from the 1940's/50's era in time. 'Don't' quite comfortably takes the crown for being my favourite song by Ed this era, it was so much more instant than Sing for me and sounded like the better song to launch his album with but it wasn't meant to be... still it's done inexplicably well chart wise. Finally 'Human' by Christina Perri falls short of the top 20, the track is the lead single from her 2nd album Head or Heart. The song was also released in November of last year and beats Ellie's HLWILY in the improvement of a songs previous position in the following year. 'Human' was 86 in my countdown last year and as a result this year does exceedingly well climbing a deservedly 60+ places however it still doesn't quite match 'Jar of Hearts' EOY position back in 2011 when that made the top 10 at 7. Such a beautiful song once again by her though. Edited December 31, 201410 yr by Robert S
December 31, 201410 yr Author 16 : Katy Perry ft Juicy J – Dark Horse (34.32.28.16.16.17.08.05.07.07.05.03.09.17.27.29.32.X.R36.38.17.25.34) 22 Weeks 17 : Sigma - Nobody To Love (07.03.03.08.11.16.14.20.21.18.15.21.24.29.39.30.37.34.34.40) 20 Weeks 18 : Shakira Ft Rihanna - Can't Remember To Forget You (03.11.11.05.08.12.16.20.21.20.18.20.25.28.30.35.39.37.40.40) 20 Weeks 19 : Taylor Swift - Shake It Off (01.01.02.05.06.09.08.08.10.12.19.21.27.32.X.40.40) 16 Weeks 20 : George Ezra - Blame It On Me (37.20.11.04.02.01.01.03.05.07.08.11.15.28.X4.R36) 15 Weeks Poor George doesn't seem to find any good luck in the video to 'Blame It On Me', this folky rhythmetic song really takes him up a few gears imo and I now prefer it to his debut :o which if you asked me 4/5 months back definitely won't have been the case. Oh Taylor PLEASE FORGIVE ME for I have been such a flop allowing 'Shake It Off' to be as low as 19 compared to WANGBT back in 2012 which was released around the same time and reached 3 :( still I'm so happy Taylor is back and she deserves every ounce of success in the UK personally. Martin keep your hands off, you've been warned hot sexy women in a music video... Shakira hooked up with Barbados superstar Rihanna on her return commercial single 'Can't Remember To Forget You' at 18 followed by Sigma's 2nd showing with the summery 'Nobody To Love' and as we discovered in the past week the vocals come from One True Voice's ........ YOU remember them? "tumbleweed" Daniel Pearce :o Katy Perry is definitely the 'Dark Horse' in my EOY charts having finished in my top 5 in 2008 & 2010 but finds herself with her highest charting track this year sitting at 16.
December 31, 201410 yr Author 15 : Iggy Azalea Ft Rita Ora - Black Widow (03.16.32.X8.R28.25.23.20.20.05.08.04.06.04.03.07.10.14.14.20.21.24.30) 22 Weeks 14 : Coldplay - A Sky Full Of Stars (01.01.01.04.03.06.06.05.08.08.17.21.40) 13 Weeks 13 : Ella Eyre - If I Go (19.03.01.02.03.05.02.01.03.02.06.09.10.11.17.21.32.36) 18 Weeks 12 : The Veronicas – You Ruin Me (39.04.01.02.02.04.03.02.01.01.04.08.10.14.20) 15 Weeks 11 : Ella Henderson - Ghost (28.05.08.06.06.02.01.02.03.03.07.12.16.18.18.16.23.28.30.38.39.38.40) 23 Weeks  Before we head into the top 10 there are 5 more songs that are really good but sadly just miss out. The first is Iggy Azalea and Rita Ora's duet 'Black Widow', it's a very sexy video where the girls are hunting down a man in a Spiderman esque type plot. Coldplay's biggest hit this year with a little help from King of Dance and my EOY chart last year... Avicii comes from 'A Sky Full of Stars' at 14. To many's surprise because of how huge a loon I've been of Ella's it was unfortunately not enough to boost her with a top 10 position. It's also a great big shame she hasn't amounted to being a star like most of us want her to be. Blame the public... 'If I Go' was the first single from the soulstry lass and I hope if anything by these tracks are anything to go by that she will eventually get that big solo hit that we want. A group or should I say twin sister duo that perhaps surprised me the most this year are The Veronicas who helm from Australia and whilst providing us with a great song like '4EVER' also released a song I can't stand honestly in 'Untouched' hence making me a half n half fan of them 5 years ago but this year by a landslide they have won me over into being a huge fan of theirs especially with this spine tingling emotional ballad that when I've seen live performances it leaves me with genuine goosebumps. 'You Ruin Me' off their rather brilliant new album is number 12. Missing the cut only just and having to settle for 11 is X Factor reject Ella Henderson who like I said before is now one of the biggest success stories from the show having bagged herself a #1 album and #1 single with this Tedder co-written hit.. 'Ghost' which also proved popular with me nabbing a week at #1 on my personal chart around it's release. Still one Ella track on the way to most of you lots surprise :o Edited December 31, 201410 yr by Robert S
December 31, 201410 yr Author that's it for tonight. I will be wrapping this up either tommorow or Friday :D
January 1, 201510 yr I forgot all about Scream! Paolo Nutini funking the charts up long before Mark Ronson  :funky: Â I thought Cool Kids might place a little higher for you but now I see there is very tough competition with all the songs that beat it. Not surprised to see Black Widow ahead of Fancy because you were very late to chart Fancy.
January 1, 201510 yr Black Widow is fantastic, I prefer it to Fancy too. I think it's all a lot slicker and the chorus is stronger. The raps in Fancy are untouchable though, so fun to recreate  Dark Horse is incredible, I think she works best with the supernatural style because I love ET as well. The trap element in it is fantastic too, glad it was so well-received by the public. The Blame It On Me video is funny, much better than Budapest to listen to and watch. I think he works better at midtempo because this is by far his best single for me.

Not surprised to see Black Widow ahead of Fancy because you were very late to chart Fancy. Of course how could you forget Jordan :P I'm sure if Echosmith had another week at #1 then they'd be top 20 ;) I charted Fancy back in April :o it just didn't click with me properly then. Thanks! Black Widow is fantastic, I prefer it to Fancy too. I think it's all a lot slicker and the chorus is stronger. I think he works better at midtempo because this is by far his best single for me. I much prefer BW over Fancy. Both videos are fantastic but the latter single tops it for me. Yes Katy should definitely stick to those type of videos. It's what made it grow on me a lot more and BIOM was good video wise but LTTM vid is starting to become his best video for me. Thanks!
