How much did Progress sell in its first day? It would be easier to predict a weekly number for III if we had information on how much pre-orders they sold. Looks like it will end up being the highest debut of the year, though.

I hope McBusted are top ten and that they stay there.

That's about right for Take That, should do 150-200k as expected then. The hype has obviously completely dived off a cliff since Progress but the market has changed quite a lot too in the last four years. And they're still bigger than practically any other act out there

Union J are at number 1 on the midweek!

Take That sold 85,226 copies in the first day. AC/DC 43,654. Christmas figures!

Sam Bailey is flying up the album chart again in anticipation of her X Factor performance. Up to number 48!

But poor Kiesza. As predicted, sales that would have got her to 8 in the charts in October now only get her 25.

Thanks Sunday. So 200k likely for TT with lots shifted at the weekend. Would like to see Union J hold on.

Good luck for UJ, Taylor and Blonde. Ed can f off, he's had enough praise for such a week song :drama:
Sorry if it's posted somewhere already, but what is the best first week sales TT has to beat?
Think they sold just over half a million for Progress. That will take some beating.

Abar 520,000 1st week.

On the first day of the release the album sold over 235,000 copies across the UK, making it the fastest-selling record of the century.[28][29] On 21 November 2010, Progress debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart, becoming the band's sixth number-one album. By the end of its first week on sale the album sold around 520,000 copies, which made it the second fastest-selling album of all-time in UK chart history

That was the week when Woolworths went under, Progress sales went through the roof, so I can't see them topping that.

flop.

Didn't Woolworths close in 2008 not 2010?

There's a new Ed Sheeran song out from The Sons of Anarchy tv show

Is this eligible for the official chart?

Didn't Woolworths close in 2008 not 2010?

Yes they did and I think that was the year they released Circus, I remember it well as I worked in the Basingstoke store when the company went into administration :(

I think the reason Progress sold well was with the hype around Robbie's return, though I think!

Kinda hope Union J do hold on and beat Ed/Taylor...just for the shock value!!

Didn't Woolworths close in 2008 not 2010?

Wrong album it was Circus, so it was 2008 when Woolworths closed its doors, I just couldn't think if it was Progress or Circus, it was one of those 2.

Woolworths was definitely 2008, because people were buying Alexandra Burke's winner single in bucketloads for about 50p.
The administrators Deloitte closed all 807 Woolworths stores between 27 December 2008 and 6 January 2009 resulting in 27,000 job losses.
Mariah could be very high this week and possibly even top 5 on Christmas week. She's already #8 on Spotify, and should be #1 by Christmas.

Sam Bailey released a new edition of her album yesterday. I'm surprised it's only #48 - it was #6 in HMV when I was there earlier.
