December 23, 201410 yr Author Everything we are is a myth yi-b39uzXXI 20. TĀLĀ - Alchemy And so we crack into the top 20 :o the finest songs of the year for me so expect even MORE hyperbole that usual (if that's possible) in these commentaries. I am determined to get this done before the end of the year so hang tight with me ~ First up is from the M.I.A.-lite duchess, TĀLĀ. I make that comparison as a huge compliment - she channels the eastern sounds of M.I.A., the same daring lyrics, the soaring vocals, but does so in a much more delicate way. This song in particular wowed me from first listen. There is something about hearing someone scream, groan and reach a sense of ecstasy when they're making their music, and to record that and put it over an already sensational track and you're onto a real winner. From the delicate tones that begin the track and carry on through the first section, you're just waiting for that explosion and when it comes it is so euphoric. I want to be transported back to that first time that i played the song, when i didn't know what was coming up, and relive my reaction when the beat dropped and the CRIES of agony/orgasm first ripped into my head. Thankfully if you haven't heard this yet or forgotten what it's like, you can experience that RIGHT NOW :magic:
December 23, 201410 yr Author Feelings take over, memories wide open 3iJeEAZM5xk 19. Neon Jungle – Braveheart I love these girls. And this is their best for me. While 'Trouble' didn't grab me for a while, this was very instant. It's everything i wanted from a girl group, brash, in your face, sassy and full of personality and identity. They are the most exciting girl group around right now and i only hope they continue with the good stuff in the future. Lyrically it is also exciting, not your standard throwaway club banger, this is about owning the night, allowing your inhibitions to take over and just letting yourself go. I heard it around 70 times in one night before seeing the girls perform it live in Glasgow and so i'll always have fond memories of it and that night and the people i was with.As beastly as they come~
December 23, 201410 yr Braveheart yasssss http://i.imgur.com/2YSZid2.png Too bad they couldn't follow it up with an amazing 3rd single or album Edited December 23, 201410 yr by Timmy TheSnowman
December 23, 201410 yr I quite like braveheart, the chorus was great but the rap was bad. It's a shame their album just mised my EOY top 40 :( Also what is the best of the tracks Madonna has just released?
December 23, 201410 yr Braveheart is FABULOUS. Shame they've not been anywhere near as good since oops
December 23, 201410 yr Froot *.* Cannot wait for the album! Braveheart is fab too, I did like the subsequent singles to be fair but it's miles ahead <3
December 23, 201410 yr All caught up! 'Braveheart' is so trashy yet such a BANGER at that! That rap is as toe-curling as the phrase itself, but the rest of it totally makes up for it!
December 23, 201410 yr All caught up! 'Braveheart' is so trashy yet such a BANGER at that! That rap is as toe-curling as the phrase itself, but the rest of it totally makes up for it! Ha yes! So agree with this. As I said in my top 40 2014 countdown it's got some really awful elements that make it not worthy. Yet some how it manages to be such a banger. That rap is one of the worst things I've heard. But..banger. #ChoppinFeta
December 23, 201410 yr Now that I'm caught up, 'Alchemy' is absolutely incredible, one of the best BJSC tracks of the year! I also really love Neon Jungle, so incredibly fun and sassy (for lack of a better term I decided to steal one from your own commentary :kink:)
December 23, 201410 yr i love that tala track obv though that 'braveheart' tune isn't to be trusted...
December 23, 201410 yr Author Thank you all for the comments. Am tired & ready to sleep so will just do a generic post :cheer: Also what is the best of the tracks Madonna has just released? Devil Pray is my favourite, closely followed by Ghosttown. And of course the single, Living For Love, is fab too!
December 23, 201410 yr Author Lift me up and make me soar out of the blue S0COlNTizwo 10. iamamiwhoami - blue vista / fountain / blue blue / ripple / chasing kites As we enter the wholly female dominated top 10 albums of 2014 (2013 had 8 males, 2 females so this is quite the contrast :o), the first casuality is iamamiwhoami. The big follow up to 'kin' which i still return to now and relive all of the memories attached to it <3 In 'blue' she has departed from the harsh sounds of the former records to present an all-the-more tonic and natural sound. The washing waves never let go, and her vocals are more subdued and airy. It's an incredibly ethereal album that is so in touch with the world around the artist, that this translates to listeners too. The visuals weren't quite up to scratch with the ones we are used to, but i admire the effort she has to actually provide such thought-provoking visuals whether they are pulled off well enough or not. 'ripple' is a BEAST i have decided~ --xxx-- 10. iamamiwhoami - blue 11. Kid Cudi - SATELLITE FLIGHT: The journey to Mother Moon 12. One Direction - FOUR 13. Sam Smith - In The Lonely Hour 14. December 24, 201410 yr Yammy beating FKA Twigs? Imma have a meltdown this time and WHEN I DO, I will throw yogurts at you :0 :0 Other than that good chart ^_^ Edited December 26, 201410 yr by NellyXmas.S
December 24, 201410 yr oo braveheart is nice but still probably my least from them, i think welcome to the jungle does the same thing but much better. trouble too but that's in the middle for me. and unrelated to your countdown, yes at devil pray and ghosttown being your faves from rebel heart already me too! devil pray would be a bit stronger without crappy lyrics though. i love the reggae feel to unapologetic bitch and bitch im madonna is a good mess too. illuminati is nice but the weakest i think. not going to listen to the leaks because i am an angel
December 26, 201410 yr Author In the middle of the night all I think about is you XLaOxbd37jc 18. Jessie Ware -Tough Love And we're back after ha festive festivities ~ Continuing into the top 20, is the only appearance from Jessie Ware in these countdowns, which is surprising given she had her big return in 2014. But her return was mostly muted for me - the album did not wow me as much as i'd have liked it too and i lost interest part way through. One song, the one mentioned here, however stunned me to my core and i return to it often as a reminder that she is still a special artist. It is perhaps the most "basic", "simple" song in the top 40, but i use those terms in the most glowingly rewarding way possible. There are no tricks in this song, it is simply a cry of truth; love is tough, and it's often without the fireworks or drama, it is just tough by nature, which the song perfectly depicts.
December 27, 201410 yr Author Want only you to take me all GIr2SJlzXvc 17. iamamiwhoami - vista Do i know what she's saying in half of this? No. Does it matter? Only slightly. 'vista' is my favourite song from Ms. Yammy in a long time. It's a joyous, explosion of feel-good synths and sounds and her soaring vocals above the track make for her most instant song this era. She travels some distance from the dark and light eras of kin and bounty, and here she is ice queen assuming her rightful throne. It speaks of something that Shakespeare would write, hugely visual and poetic, the song is about assuming control over your surroundings and blockading yourself from everyone - except for one that is allowed to enter and take over. Is she after sexual gratification or just tender acceptance? :o A love song at heart, but done in a complicated, yet majestic manner. That final bout of chorus is everything.

This song made me so excited for her second album, it took a little while to grow but I do love it, but like you say, the rest is just meh! She appeared four times in my 2013 top 100 without releasing an album, I wasn't expecting that to go down to just one this year!
