Erik Hassle feat. Tinashe ‘Innocence Lost’

Beyoncé ‘Partition (Dave Aude Extended Remix)’

Christina Perri ‘Burning Gold (Bit Funk Remix)’

Say Lou Lou ‘Everything We Touch’

Kitty and Sad Andy ‘Brush Me Off’

Madonna ‘Rebel Heart (demo)’

Lykke Li ‘No Rest For The Wicked (Klangkarussel Remix)’

Lanks ‘Knife and Spear’

Grimes feat. Blood Diamonds ‘Go’

Sia feat. The Weekend and Diplo ‘Elastic Heart’

more wonderful electronica here, be it in remix for or original. ketalina fav (no pun except every pun intended) kitty with her slow jam duet with sad andy (the second and final andy to feature on this countdown). kitty is an enigma and i am wondering where she goes in 2015, i wouldn't be surprised her to have some sort of mainstream hit crossing over that or fade into obscurity. say lou lou, came and gave in 2013 and well...gave a little more in 2015 but didn't break through and we have yet to see the album. they are lovely though. madonna provided us with her best track since 'hung up' and in demo form too. the title track from her yesterday-confirmed new album. hopes remain low as usual. once again well-established bore lykke li was remixed to wonderfulness by a long name artist. lanks is very much indie-pop for your nerve (very catchy) and then we have BOMBASTIC tracks from grimes and sia. grimes' track was so bombastic it imploded her forthcoming album to the point of it being scrapped. oh well, at least she's just completed a glam-rock track for us to look forward to with the second iteration of album two. oh i almost forgot about christina perri, what a dreadful singer of song generally but what a fabulous remix. listen! and here is beyonce in fabulously remixed form who needs no introduction really does she?

it's fine, she'll lip-sync it on your behalf and release it as the lead single from her next record due next december

'Rebel Heart' making a splash here :o! Have you heard the new tracks from the album? I hope she has some sort of success in the new year, but really a solid album will be enough.

'Elastic Heart' is another beauty <3 Only really appreciated it when i got immersed in the album.

Have you listened to Food?

Your opinions on "Waves" and "Money On My Mind", as well as Cheryl's 'output' are pretty on-point for me. I think this optimises everything that has been wrong in 2014; whilst in 2013 the songs that garnered major hype (e.g. "Get Lucky") fully justified it - this year they seem to have got universal praise for something that is quite watered down and bland. Maybe it is because of a lack of anything actually good, for instance Mark Ronson's "Uptown Funk" or Clean Bandit's "Rather Be" from earlier in the year.

I think 2014 will go down as my least favourite year for chart music/music in general for some time unfortunately.

That said however, in your best songs list there are a number of great songs already! Will be interested to see what you rank as your number 1 (please let it not be the utter cheese-fest that NME ranked as theirs - "Seasons (Waiting On You)" -:0 bleurgh)

i confirm that said 'cheese-fest' and pitchfork song of the year failed to make the list in any capacity

Have you listened to Food?

no

evidently there is something about hearts isn't there :o

'Go' is so good (much better than any of the tracks I heard off the debut), didn't really feel like a 'sellout' track to me either so I was a little confused at the reception to it.

I'm not really a Madonna fan at all but 'Living For Love' is actually pretty good so maybe I'll be on board this era. *not actually relevant to your countdown*

50-46

46 SOHN ‘Artiface’

47 Years & Years ‘Real’

48 ODESZA feat. Zyra 'Say My Name'

49 Alex Adair ‘Make Me Feel Better’

50 Emilie Nicolas ‘Grown Up’

here lies a right mix of stuff relating to buzzjack, my first time, first win with sohn charges in at 46. i appreciate my win a lot more with the benefit of hindsight. i wish i'd kept with 'artifice' after my win but i didn't hence its lax position here. years & years released this buzz single back in spring; how did nobody send it to bjsc? coz somebody sent the wonderful odesza and it deserved more. alex adair was sent in a better original form than its future #01 self (the video is one of this year's best as well as one of the most thoughtful to enter the dance sphere) and coming up the back is norge lady emilie nicolas with her beautiful 'grown up', entered by myself into UP earlier this year. for whatever reason i can never truly cherish my entries into buzzjack competitions. it's a strange mindset i don't fully understand myself. nonetheless; such good music!

i am going to ignore air balloon SO BAD rite now because i feel u've not slept enough and this is what u've bene led to and its not ur fault

alex adair :'( will never ever ever ever get old. in my songs of the year as well and RLY high up at that. actually rly like everything in the top 50 so far

ELYAR FOX AND ALL THOSE OTHER SOCIAL MEDIA IDENTIKIT SHIT BOYBANDS

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-CLnEKxWyDCA/UHst-quoI9I/AAAAAAAAAY8/uPvEf2jzCvU/s1600/The%20Styles%20Twins.jpg

i've selected elyar fox here but tbh it could be any and all of these social media boyband type acts that seem to have multiplied in the boom post-direction years. there has, and always will be basic, common denominator pop but in the last year or so it feels like everything has taken a greater step towards uniform, terrible shite. from the array of young pop upstarts how many of them weren't c. 20 years old, white, middle class and painfully twinkified. it makes the wanted look positively striking. stereo kicks on x factor earlier this year really brought home the fact home, relying on the gimmick of eight identical members as their reason for existing. how has it come to this? once upon a time boybands like n*sync, backstreet boys even take that to an extent went out with a sound an identity, a mission statement, SUBSTANCE.

this mission statement has been replaced with...well, the bare minimum of anything, with the encroachment of social media and a swelling young female/teen market has left a whole sector of utterly soulless, boring and banal music. it all wouldn't be so boring if any of these middle england, closeted, theatre type 'lads' had some charisma or stage presence. with the social media times the music isn't even important, it's by-the-by, it's just about selling your merchandise, meet and greets and tweeting-insta-youtube viewing times. all with obnoxious 'lads' on the quest for fame and little else.

elyar fox sticks out as the worst of this bad bunch because he is the most insultingly poor. where are the tunes, any sort of effort? for the release of 'a billion girls' he was putting out a new (terrible) mix each day, who needs an acoustic when you have the chill out mix, the folk mix etc etc thankfully people seem to have avoided buying into him and he's been absent most of the year.

that said one good boyband moment came from shamed tax evaders take that. the more members they lose the better they seem to get with 'these days' being their best single since who knows when. attempting to sound like one direction and coming off better (the ridiculous x factor perf helped too)
