December 13, 201410 yr Pretty awful show really. The duets were crap and Fleur wasn't as good as I thought she was going to be I'll be very, very shocked if Ben doesn't win this :/
December 13, 201410 yr Again, 10x for Fleur across my ipad and phone already  Queen Flour to win <3333 Omg at autocorrect :o Anyway queen flour to win then :cheer:
December 14, 201410 yr What an underwhelming final! What happened to the days of Beyonce, George Michael, Rihanna...? On a separate note, I'm watching Xtra - are Sarah-Jane and Stevi REALLY an item?! :o
December 14, 201410 yr I really can't get over us getting another cover, yet Australia all the finalists get different original songs. Where is our What You've Done To Me?
December 14, 201410 yr So glad Fleur got through, I was convinced she was going to be third after performances that some could consider underwhelming and not vote-grabbing (although they were still my favourite performances). On another note, check out this Vine. Katie saying "you owe me" to Simon - I think! Also loving the Digital Spy thread saying Ben ripped of Eric Saade's Eurovision performance of 'Popular' - this was the first thing I thought too! :kink: -04pUETT7oI
December 14, 201410 yr I really can't get over us getting another cover, yet Australia all the finalists get different original songs. Where is our What You've Done To Me? At least this year it's really a genuinely decent track, much like 2012. All the other years were far too clichéd though.
December 14, 201410 yr Naturally I'm gutted, but I expected Andrea to be 3rd completely, no shadow of a doubt. I hope that SOMEONE sees potential in him though, he has one of the best voices I've ever heard on X Factor and a voice that I personally believe is so rare in a mile (unlike any other contestant who is pretty common amongst their genre). If Sam Smith can be huge, I see no reason why a record label couldn't carve a career out of Andrea, but I sadly don't imagine anyone will. :( Yet again tonight, I thought he absolutely smashed Ben & Fleur out of the park with his performance. Can't Hold Us was dire, one of, if not THE worst Fleur performance to date, awful arrangement (but I still want her to go the way). Ben's performance was actually one of my favourites from him though, if he'd been performing 'Demons' kind of tracks from the beginning, I think he'd have this win easier.
December 14, 201410 yr I really can't get over us getting another cover, yet Australia all the finalists get different original songs. Where is our What You've Done To Me? Every year this happens and I still can't fathom it. Surely Syco have numerous songwriters on their books who can create some clichéd "I had a dream the other night" type lyrics and put together a half-decent pop song? And that way Cowell doesn't have to give a cut to Tedder. It's so strange. Just another example of how X Factor Aus is far superior, both What You've Done To Me and Alive were perfect! Interested to hear what Fleur's take will be on Something I Need as Ben's could just be a carbon copy of the original.
December 14, 201410 yr I loved Fleur's first performance but I thought her duet with Labrinth was a real let down. Her worst ever performance of the series. Surely they could have got someone better than Labrinth. They should have had her duet with Meghan Trainor and All About That Bass. Meghan could have performed her latest single Lips Are Movin' Still Fleur to win though
December 14, 201410 yr Having watched them back again, I'm actually being quite unfair saying Andrea was the best by a long way, it was probably Ben's best night yet. Definitely picked the right night to peak imo as opposed to Fleur who did quite the opposite.

Definitely picked the right night to peak imo as opposed to Fleur who did quite the opposite. I agree with this. I hate to admit it but Ben was pretty solid throughout and really shone in both of his songs. Going back to your post about Andrea~ considering i don't have a record company take this with a pinch of salt but i really do not see him being marketable at all. Over the course of 3 months or so on the show he has repeatedly shown that he had a good voice... brilliant but so have most others on the show but where he lacks is the diversity!!1 That sounds like a cop out but his styling.song choices and everything screamed THEATRE to me and so for his career's sake i'd be more inclined to push him towards making a living out of doing live theatrical productions as opposed to studio albums. That's not turning my nose up at the theatrical side because he will sell out shows and bring in audiences in and do the shows sensationally, but i do not think there is a strong enough market for him to have a sustained musical career. Perhaps a mother's day album every other year and that's it.. On the flip side away from my biased love for her, i really think Fleur has a good career ahead of her. Her and Ben will both release music and probably be mildly successful but i can see A LOT of big names itching to work with Fleur which will only work in her favour. I can see the likes of Jessie J, Labrinth, Bruno Mars(?), Ronson(?) et al jumping at the chance to work with her. That could help her make it stateside as well but it's far too early to predict that..
December 14, 201410 yr Author i think the problem with andrea, as people have already pointed out is that while technically a very strong voice it leaves him pigeonholed to pretty much one type of music; divas. alas he hasn't got a freddie mercury persona to go with the voice so it doesn't ultimately work out. he will get a mothers day record at best and that'll be that. as for who wins, i don't think it honestly matters. both are going to carve out their own niches and have a fanbase, if anything you argue being crowned winner is something of a poisoned chalice.

Definitely picked the right night to peak imo as opposed to Fleur who did quite the opposite. I agree with this. Demons was really great and suited him to a tee and the duet he sang well and had a good chemistry with Ed. The duet seems to be going down a storm on social media and can only help him. As someone else said if he was doing this type of song all along he would probably have won already. As it is he's had some terrible song choices and still got to the final.

That could help her make it stateside as well but it's far too early to predict that.. I can totally see where both of you are coming from and there's definitely points that I agree on but I'll refer back to my example of Sam Smith again even though they're not exactly the same type of artist. If Sam was on the show, he would've stood still and likely performed ballads every week - have you seen many live performances of Sam where he doesn't stay rooted to the spot singing? But he's carved a career from the niche that there is no male like him right now in the industry and the GBP love a good ballad. There is no male in the industry with a big voice like Andrea and perhaps wrongly, I see no reason why that niche couldn't be successful with the notion that Andrea's voice is SO good at it. If Andrea released a song of the 'Chandelier' vein (a performance that many agree was his best/one of his best), why couldn't he be successful? He's got the vocals for it, undoubtedly. He's likeable. However, given he's come from X Factor, I'm sure all he will be left with is a successful Mother's Day album because people seem to lack the vision with artists like Andrea on X Factor. But, if any of you can give me anyone on X Factor in the past 10 years; a male with a massive voice that nails huge female power ballads, then prove me wrong but I totally disagree with people who try and make him sound like he's "just another big voice", because I personally think HE is quite rare personally. I do agree about Fleur though, I think she definitely has a big future ahead of her and it helps that unlike Andrea, you don't have to work to make her a success because she's making and performing music that is already out there, it's popular at the moment, she's current, she can perform - Cowell will know exactly how to handle an artist like Fleur so I have no doubts he can, at the very least, carve an 'Overcome'-esque successful first era from her, if not more depending on who she works with.
December 14, 201410 yr If anything I think it's better for Ben to come second not just because I prefer fleur but also because we've seen how they handle male winners and I do think Ben has potential still so it'd be a shame if they handled him like they have some woinners in the past. But I'm not sure what would come of Fleur if she won, they haven't had a winner like that before. I'd say she's closest to Little Mix's second album I guess? It'll be interesting to see if she does change up the winner's single, they haven't done that before really but I think it's what they might need for it to sell well again.
December 14, 201410 yr I thought the Ed/Ben duet was a bit odd, personally. Ed majorly outshone him on it anyway. I don't think Ben or Fleur had the best of nights. There's certainly room for both to majorly step it up tonight. I actually thought Andrea was the strongest of the three yesterday, and his duet with Ella >>>>> the other two. At this point I don't mind if Fleur wins or is the runner up, I'm just really pleased that she's made it this far. There'd certainly be no shame in coming second.
