December 12, 201411 yr I disagree, artists albums are a piece of art and therefore take longer to make and even sell. Compilation albums have the advantage of being a bunch of really popular hits which gives them an advantage sales wise so should be listed seperately and thankfully are. So what about artist's Greatest Hits compilations?
December 12, 201411 yr So what about artist's Greatest Hits compilations? Well that's quite obviously a different kettle of fish, particularly in the case of artists who may not have necessarily been big album sellers. Firstly because it's lot of singles that have been big hits for that artist (often with a couple of new ones too, so not in effect a 'compilation' in the same way a Now album is). Secondly because it often ends up being the biggest selling album for that artist. I can't think of many people for instance, who had picked up a Take That album prior to the release of the Ultimate Collection album. Likewise Girls Aloud when they bought out 'The Sound of...' in 2006.
December 12, 201411 yr This is exactly why I'm glad we have a separate compilation chart, it'd just be the Now albums dominating all year round and things would look very messy! And the top 5 albums of this year so far would look like this even if the compilation chart was never invented: 1. x 2. In The Lonely Hour 3. Frozen 4. Ghost Stories 5. Caustic Love
December 12, 201411 yr Union J on iTunes now single #33 and album #70!! Maybe they are selling a fair few physicals, if the album was #20 on thurs update? But its looking a bit scary after what seemed a promising start.
December 12, 201411 yr 'Flops' really? A #7 and a sales #10 which has spent its 2 release weeks in the iTunes top 10 and is still going strong. Silly comment. On the BBC music awards, the point of the show was to celebrate the year and its big songs and artists so obviously it was going to be Ghost, Rather Be, Budapest... It will be the same on TOTP Xmas. On Ella, I can't recall her last TV performance of Ghost before this... She has always promos her latest single. Yours has been on XF, Jon Ross and Sunday Brunch for instance. So you are plain wrong. "Yours" is by far her best song and deserves top 10. It's unfair for her to lose 2 weeks in the top 10 due to streaming
December 12, 201411 yr "Yours" is by far her best song and deserves top 10. It's unfair for her to lose 2 weeks in the top 10 due to streaming Many people have lost out on various positions since the summer, it annoys me too but that's the way it is and we've got to accept it.
December 12, 201411 yr Many people have lost out on various positions since the summer, it annoys me too but that's the way it is and we've got to accept it. It is quite interesting to analyse why a greater % of people buy rather than stream tho (or vice versa). Dont ask me!
December 12, 201411 yr I don't read Buzzjack for 2 days and I see this thread up to 19 pages and think something major has happened, only to find out it's just "Snowing Adam" clogging up about 65% of it...... Anyway, healthy HEALTHY sales for Mark and Bruno, I would love to see them hold on til the end of 2014 and beginning of 2015!

December 12, 201411 yr Thanks Santa! Could you tell me where Leona is in the midweeks please? Where is Cheryl's Only Human? This applies to both posts We don't have any info outside the top 40, that comes from a different source altogether, as we don't even have any sales content yet, hopefully its still on its way later.
December 12, 201411 yr The Pogues look like they should be safe for a top 10 re-entry this week, especially as they'll overtake Bring Me The Horizon for sure! :cheer: BMTH look safe for top 15 / top 10 on sales which is great for them too (and they're still top 30 on iTunes so hopefully they won't drop straight out of the top 100 next week :P) Pleasing to see Olly back ahead of 1D again in the albums too, could manage similar sales to its debut week and then break 100k next week!
December 12, 201411 yr Author I don't read Buzzjack for 2 days and I see this thread up to 19 pages and think something major has happened, only to find out it's just "Snowing Adam" clogging up about 65% of it...... That's true but the recent SCP threads have been managing ~15 pages for a few weeks now, even without anyone clogging it up. I hope CHVRCHES keep hold of a Top 40 debut - I've been enjoying 'Get Away' quite a bit since hearing it on the BBC Update Chart.
December 12, 201411 yr Bob Geldof must be annoyed that X Factor is stopping him going back to #1 :P Although I think Ed Sheeran will take the #2, so it won't matter. Really hope Oliver Heldens can hold on to top 5, but Take That and Taylor will probably benefit from the weekend effect knocking him down to #6 :( Fairytale Of New York top 10 though :D
December 12, 201411 yr Poor 5H :( It wasn't supposed to fall this quickly in one day! :o At this rate it would be lucky to keep a top 20 position, unless streams help it along  And I hope Oliver KEEPS the #4 this week, already seeing he's had so much bad luck with three VERY tough singles above him...
December 12, 201411 yr Looks like Fifth Harmony will get a lowly top 20 entry on Sunday, oh well. I really hope CHVRCHES can hold in the top 40.
