The fact that she is visiting BBC R2 on the 13th make me think she could still visit other big radios next week too

Ye the radio tour is likely to go on for a coupel weeks, so just because we haven't seen them mentioned yet doesn't mean she's not going to visit them. I mean Heart have always been a big supporter of Leona so it would be criminal if she didn't visit them imo.

FUFM release push forward to 7...I honestly expect it..because it seems radio do not get on board, and btw it would barely made the top 20 on the 28 of june; but now it would not make the top 40...I just hope they do this , in order to push a seconde single from july that will appeal to important radio like capital and bbc R1

I don't know how it will do now the release has been brought forward, but I think it will make the top 40 pes, have a bit of optimism.

She has the Palladium performance on Sunday, the release date, which will help and hopefully they will be able to secure her a few other spots during the week.

Well if she has other tv performances yes, but only the palladium is not enough

I think she can go Top 40 with just the Palladium.

I'm not sure it will make the top 40 officially, probably on the sales chart but not in the main chart. I'm not sure what their strategy is now, maybe they are focusing on the album like Florence + The Machine and just releasing a couple of singles without build-up like Florence.

I m talking about the main chart..on the sales chart I think she will make the top 40 but the streaming factor will leave FUMF out

I honestly am not too impressed with Island at all.

The pre-order has not troubled the top 1,500 on iTunes since it was initially put up. But I had some hope as I was thinking maybe a radio station or two would get on board over the next week, and the held back release might impact iTunes to a point.

I don't even think it will make top 40 on sales. There just isn't enough interest or awareness around the song yet.

I don't get island's logic...'the single hasn't picked up much AirPlay yet, let's bring it forward!' They can't honestly be thinking her performance on Sunday night is going to have *that* much of an impact...it's not like she's performing on X Factor...

I actually did forget about streaming, but I still think she can reach the lower end of the top 40.
Who in their right minds thought releasing this earlier would be a good idea....
Island released Will Young's single in a similar way and it didn't even make the top 100, meaning it picked up no AirPlay beyond R2 and his album opened with his lowest to date.

This is absolutely ridiculous. Island can sure talk the talk when it comes to heralding the world conquering return of Leona, but it certainly didn't take them long to make a tits up job of the release of the LEAD single. Jesus. All of the back and forward carry on with the dates is a total joke and makes everyone involved look like they're just winging it.

The song will sink without trace. There's literally no awareness for it outside of her core fanbase, so I can't imagine 30k people rushing to buy it after the Palladium performance (which probably gets next to no viewers anyway), so top 10 is an absolute impossibility. I can see it shifting 5k copies and charting at around 90, if she's extremely lucky.

Also, and while I admire the positive spirit, the example given by the Will Young fan on the previous page isn't very encouraging. Yes he perhaps managed to get himself a number 1 album, but he has a far more impressive track record in the album charts than Leona does, and he still only shifted 21k copies. That's less than Glassheart sold in its first week, so it would take an absolute miracle for Leona to sell more than that. If anything, the downward spiral of her album openings would put her at around 10k. Particularly if she doesn't have the public behind her after a successful single.

As for radio, that's it. If the song doesn't chart absolutely no station in the country will pick up any more singles from the album.

It's so disappointing, considering the excitement that was building up prior to the single debuting. I genuinely was starting to feel that this era would turn it all around for her. Now, I'm almost inclined to say it's the last shot she's going to get.

Aren't you being a little bit too harsh with your opinion? She still has a shot. She has a good chance of success in the Usa.If the can get a couple hits in the Usa then the Uk and the rest of the world will follow suit and she'll gain her worldwide success again.

Well that's the thing, it's just my opinion. But I really don't think I'm being that unrealistic.

I'm interested to know how she still has a shot at a couple of hits in the U.S. though? That seems...optimistic. Even coming off the back of Spirit, she couldn't get herself another hit over there. Thing is, it's releasing here first, so if her home country don't even take it on, it doesn't seem likely that anyone else will show much interest. If there's little to no commercial success here, it'll send alarm bells ringing at Def Jam. They're hardly going to throw cash at a promotional push if there's no evidence there will be any reward.

Well that is hardly fair, Happy was not a radio hit, it was a terrible lead and Clive Davis never believed in the album, publicly blaming its failure on Leona being involved in the song writing, stating he doesn't believe singers should be involved. Sounds very similar to Kelly Clarkson's position with him.

He pulled the second single 1 week after they sent it for adds. Had she had a fully supportive label at that point, I am sure we would have seen at least two singles, if not more.

And I think Florence is a good example, they had three singles out before the album, they weren't doing well but they kept going and now finally Ship To Wreck has finally gained some ground.

LOL.

should have stayed with Simon.

R.I.P Leona Ha Lewis music success.

A little disappointed, but again, we do not know Island's game plan. I'll stick to what I said a while back: UK promo should have been overlapped with the US one and international. That would have given them just the right ammo against any kind of snubs by local radio. Another question I have to ask, has any label ever tried promoting new music with retail store chains, say pay a certain fee to have them play songs in rotation for a week or two? I wonder how that would work out, especially in conjunction with posters at entrance. Strikes may as a way to get around weird radio embargos (if that has at all happened; we don't really know.)

All this said, time to get rolling with the international release. The more time they delay courting UK radio, the longer it is before they are forced to pick it up due to international success. Just my thoughts.
