Fingers crossed The One Show and continual support from radio 2 do add some extra sales for this, but there is no chance for top 100 this week especially with the weekend streaming effect when all the party playlists are being played (don't think Leona will be on many friday/saturday night playlists haha).

 

They need to start focusing internationally with this track now (well just US and Canada really). Hopefully with single #2 they recover in the UK from this as it does not look good on her, especially as they have made a big deal out of this being her big comeback away from Syco.

The only way that single two could potentially do half decent in the United Kingdom is if they promote single two elsewhere before releasing here. 'Fire Under My Feet' is no longer top 1,500 in USA iTunes. If I was Leona I would just move on because radio's will play anything that does well internationally and this is the only way I see Leona getting future airplay.

 

I do fear for Leona because this has performed awful.

I get the feeling Island are more focused on album sales though. Obviously they'd want FUMF to smash (any record label would) but I don't think it is their #1 priority. Leona's music is suited more to the album buying demographic. Look at Will Young for example. He didn't even chart with 'Love Revolution' yet entered the album chart at #1. Leona is getting regular airplay from both Radio 2 and Magic (as well as a lot of regional stations) so I'm sure her album will at least do well.

 

I think FUMF is going to be pushed in the US. It has been played on CBS' morning show as well as The Today Show. It's already on a few US radio stations' playlists and Leona has some exciting US performances coming up.

Only time will tell I guess with America. If all goes well there, she will no doubt end up with more press here and internationally which will then lead to hopefully better promo and more awareness for single #2.

 

Will might have got to #1 with his album, but the sales weren't THAT great. If it holds up and consistently sells over time that is great for him, but I think that will depend on whether radio continue playing his future singles after Love Revolution did not perform as well as expected. Same for Leona, if they continue supporting her with future singles from I am despite FUMF's underperformance, then she could still do ok with the album (won't be a platinum seller with no hits on it). Fingers crossed they do but I am not optimistic, radio can be rather fickle with their artist support.

'Fire Under My Feet' was the 159th* best selling song based on Wednesday sales alone, with those 333 sales. I guess tomorrow she may be somewhere within the 111-120 region of the midweeks.

 

* Out of 192 songs. 8 of the Top 200 didn't state Wednesday only sales.

 

I know lots of songs peak high which don't do much on the other charts, but it's nice to see Leona getting airplay in the US again. :cheer:

 

Thanks for that! She just performed on The One Show, so hoping that'll boost her up a little bit. It was a decent performance - but she's sadly ill. Although she sounded really good in parts, especially the high note at the end! :o

'Fire Under My Feet' sadly dropped out of the top 200 on Sunday's chart. It has suffered a chart run of 51-133-out. :( Even I thought it would manage a better fate than that. Even John Bishop didn't help her stay in the top 200...

 

 

It's back in in the midweeks today though (at #200).

Its been a disater, hopefully they regroup and they get a plan in place and stick to it for future singles.

 

I'll be honest though for the time being I think she is done as a singles artist in the UK, at least until she either features on someone currents work or has success in the US, but hopefully she'll prove to be an album seller again.

 

She has Radio 2 on board, Magic and hopefully Heart will like the second single more, all of which should help the album if they pick one of the more AC tracks. Plus maybe they didn't go all out on promo with FUMF because they wanted to keep as many slots open to promote the album.

As I said in my last post, I doubt she'll sell singles in the Uk now, but hopefully with the strong support she has been receiving from Radio 2, she can at least sell a decent amount of albums.

This is always played at my work, always makes me smile, then I remember how shit it done :(

it's up to #26 on rolling airplay. I'm pretty sure that's a new peak. That's pretty decent airplay, some top 10 hits don't even manage this.

Great to see it getting strong airplay. Likely mostly from BBC Radio 2 though, she's #4 on their most played chart of the last 30 days and will likely get to #1 with another week of A-list.

#11 on US Dance/Club chart and a new remix was released last week so hope it'll be able to get to #1 on there!

Listened to the remix last night. Really good! Much prefer it to the ones released here in the UK.
