Shame about the result, Arsenal always seem to make hard work of these type of matches and lots of plaudits will be directed towards Reading for their spirited performance. Federici had a "Rob Green" moment which must be devastating for him - he made an excellent save second half too.
Classic FA cup thriller tonight! Ecstatic for the gooners obv, there was a time I was convinced we wouldn't get there. Poor Federici though.

Pleased Arsenal won, going for a second final on a trot, I remember 2001-5, they had 5 finals on a trot and winning three of those, now going for their 19th final.

You got to feel sorry for Reading though, they did play well.

Missed the extra time, pity Federici made a mistake made a wonder save in the second half, always thought he was a decent keeper.

Was looking a reading win obv being a redman.

Was at the cliftonville game today 2-2 against the old enemy a Linfield - decent game!!

Aston Villa are leading against Liverpool 2-1, and Silva has been taken to hospital suspected of a broken cheekbone... ouch
Arsenal play Aston Villa in the final, after Liverpool had a disallowed goal, last time Villa was in the final was 1957.
Liverpool were awful, villa fully deserved it. Terrible tactical decisions by Rodgers at half time which helped villa dominate until Johnson came on and can went into midfield.

In 2004 Arsenal didn't play in the FA Cup final. The final that year was Manchester United vs Millwall.

Absolute crap.

Rodgers lost the plot big time. Normally I'm a big fan of his, but he's left a lot to be desired this season in the big games. Chops and changes his tactics in the big games, and doesn't set out to play our game how we play it best. No midfielders on the bench, a winger playing as a striker, CM as a right back.. says it all really. Absolute rubbish.

Well done to Villa though, they were fantastic.

Not sure who I'd prefer to win now as I have close Arsenal & Villa fans and having them point out they won more trophies than United this season is gonna sting.

Fair play Aston Villa, fully deserved victory. I saw Grealish at a pre season game with Parma and he looked a talent even then. Good to see the faith Sherwood is placing in him.

Villa's last FA Cup final appearance was against Chelsea in 2000 - 1957 was the last time they won it!

Aston Villa and Reading have both been charged by the FA over the pitch invasions that occurred in the quarter-finals.

  • 4 weeks later...

Aston Villa has been fined £200,000 by the FA following their pitch invasion during the quarter-final against West Brom. One of the cousins was actually on the pitch and he posted a picture of himself on the pitch on Facebook.

Looking back at the match, it was inevitable that something would probably kick off given the time the match started/ local derby and with the BBC televising it.
