Another new instant grat, 'Teach Me' by Joey Bada$$ feat. Kiesza, is at #65. Szlay.

:cheer:

Really digging this now. Quite bonkers, lyrically, but it's a lot of fun and i suspect it may be a middling hit if Radio 1 continue to support it (beyond Zane Lowe's initial hype for it).

The more I think about it, the more I feel this is a definite #1 for Ellie.

I never imagined when she debuted 5 years ago that she'd still be here and as huge as she is, she's been really smart with her choices of collaborators and keeping her profile high. Good on her, I say! This is an excellent song as well.

I remember those few glorious months in 2010 when it looked like Diana had stolen Ellie's "quirky female" market, shame it didn't last long! I love Ellie too, but I didn't fully love her until 'Anything Could Happen' - one of my favourite songs of all-time.

'Criticize' [sic] by Alexander O'Neal is at #61, never heard of him but he's apparently a celebrity by Big Brother standards. Another new instant grat, 'Teach Me' by Joey Bada$$ feat. Kiesza, is at #65. Szlay.

He had quite a few hits, but only 2 top 10s. Don't know what the (sic) is for, unless you think that's not the way to spell the word? (it's perfectly valid according to the OED). Of course, Kiesza would spell it "Criticisze" or something!

Yes, perfectly valid if you're American, otherwise the correct spelling is 'Criticise' :)

Just a semi-humorous jab at the Americans' insistence on spelling words ending in 'ise' incorrectly differently.

I take back writing off Alexander O'Neal as a non-celebrity if he had that many hits! Though regardless, I'd never heard of him before yesterday.

Not really, -ize is first recorded in general British English nearly 200 years earlier than -ise. OUP and by extension the OED prefer -ize - this is from http://blog.oxforddictionaries.com/2011/03/ize-or-ise/

"The use of ‘-ize’ spellings is part of the house style at Oxford University Press. It reflects the style adopted in the first edition of the Oxford English Dictionary (which was published in parts from 1884 to 1928) and in the first editions of Hart’s Rules (1904) and the Authors’ and Printers’ Dictionary (1905). These early works chose the ‘-ize’ spellings as their preferred forms for etymological reasons: the -ize ending corresponds to the Greek verb endings -izo and -izein."

Well this is news to me! Always fun to learn about linguistics in the iTunes thread.

Nonetheless '-ise' is still the common spelling in British English and knowing about it 'technically' not being true isn't going to stop me seeing '-ize' as an Americanism (or should that be Americanizm?)

Same! Can definitely see R1 playlisting this, maybe even one week top 40 (unlikely I think though).

WOW I'm wondering how it will perform in the UK. In Germany it was number 1, last summer! Quite a late release.

 42. Sia - Elastic Heart (feat. The Weeknd & Diplo)

^ I knew the demand for a follow up to 'Chandelier' was high! A little controversy has emerged over the video too, which will only help the song's progress. Also @ #281

Fergie getting big Kiss AND Capital support.

'Saturday Love' is a real tune, it was sampled by Sway a few years ago I think.

'Criticize' is good too. But like most Twitter users, I wouldn't borrow his umbrella however much it rained.

Can Fergie get #01 :o

There's a good chance some pre order will help a song jump in at no1 possibly the week after next with Meghan & Fergie as I'm sure Mark will be around 70-90k by then. I think he should do around 120-130k this week and streams should be at around 20k for the next month or so to keep his sales boosted!

 10. James Bay "Scars"

Woah, didn't think this/the pre-orders would be strong enough to see him in the iTunes top 10. 23 March is a long wait!

26. Echosmith "Cool Kids"

27. Gorgon City "Go All Night"

33. Tulisa "Living Without You"

41. Sia "Elastic Heart"

Hope we get an update tomorrow to see if Cool Kids has entered the top 40!

What happened to Sway? It has been ages since a release. I asked him last year and he replied "soon" but still nothing!

It's still not gone top 40 on Spotify yet so I am not sure but I hope so. We need newer tracks knocking out the stale old ones.
