January 11, 201510 yr Hard to call, ‘Uptown Funk’ could spend anything up to 9 weeks at No1, however there seems to be a wall this decade preventing tracks getting more than 4 consecutive weeks at the top... Well Philip George managed to spend the best part of the week before Christmas in the iTunes top40 on pre-order and sold 83k in his first week, so Meghan will have to go some if she’s going to overhaul Ronson. Wasn’t UF originally supposed to drop this week? Presumably there would’ve been some promo activity planned for around now? Also with the album ‘Uptown Special’ out a week on Monday, UF could gain a substantive boost in the coming weeks.
January 12, 201510 yr It was & I would love to have seen the held back sales. Agreed on the point of 4 weeks being hard to beat these days but streaming has made breaking that more likely as if UF is only selling 70k in sales it's streams will take it close to 6 figs which will beat most decently performing held back releases unless they are released to spotify earlier than the download release date which record companies don't seem willing to allow at the moment!
January 12, 201510 yr Funny, the release schedule in terms of albums looks like it'll be shit hot by February/March but there's bugger all announced singles-wise. I'd love to think that Imagine Dragons have a shout.
January 12, 201510 yr I'd say another two weeks then Fergie will be number 1. Fergie is number 1 on the Shazam chart which is usually a guarantee of at least a top 3 entry for a number 1 on that chart. To think 'Uptown Funk' was supposed to be released this week before its release date was brought forward - hopefully more releases will actually happen when people want to buy and stream the tracks rather than when the labels want us to buy / stream them.
January 12, 201510 yr ^ that said, number 3 on the Shazam chart is Hannah Wants & Chris Lorenzo with 'Rhymes'. Who is Hannah Wants and why does she want Chris Lorenzo?! Edit: I'm listening to the track now - it's quite good! Edited January 12, 201510 yr by Robbie
January 12, 201510 yr 'Rhymes' to somehow be #1 PLZ (It'll be nowhere near but if Tchami could go top 10 then MAYBE she could too ~ #3 on Shazam seems promising as well).
January 12, 201510 yr 'Rhymes' to somehow be #1 PLZ (It'll be nowhere near but if Tchami could go top 10 then MAYBE she could too ~ #3 on Shazam seems promising as well). It's the first time I've heard the track or heard of either of them. I was looking at the Shazam chart in the current issue of Music Week and then looked at the Club Charts on Music Week - 'Rhymes' is also number 1 on the Upfront Club chart too! A track being at number 1 in the latter is always a good sign of a big future hit...
January 12, 201510 yr It would be great too see it beat 6 weeks :D then it would be the first track in my iTunes to be #1 for > 6 weeks  If he released it after the unstoppable Ben Haenow barrier, imagine he would've had a neater and longer consecutive run, plus another week at the top! Why Mark why? :drama:
January 12, 201510 yr I can see it holding on for another 2-3 weeks mainly due to lack of competition although i had though Meghan Trainor would go number 1 as she is performing well on streaming but i think she will be number 2 now. I know January is usually a quiet month but this year is extremely quiet for both single and album releases.
January 12, 201510 yr If he released it after the unstoppable Ben Haenow barrier, imagine he would've had a neater and longer consecutive run, plus another week at the top! Why Mark why? :drama: I think it's pretty obvious why...
January 12, 201510 yr Eight weeks I think. Love it to be AronChupa but I can see it being Sheppard that knocks off Mark and Bruno (either that or gooddelta being one of about three Buzzjackers I know IRL is warping my mind) I WISH @ AronChupa/Sheppard, I can't see the latter getting that high. The former could if support ramps up for it very quickly!
January 12, 201510 yr If he released it after the unstoppable Ben Haenow barrier, imagine he would've had a neater and longer consecutive run, plus another week at the top! Why Mark why? :drama: Because he doesn't care about having a neater and longer consecutive run.
January 12, 201510 yr I'm going to guess at 7 weeks. Sure it won't be too long (i.e. a few years) until we get another 10-weeker though.
January 12, 201510 yr I think Lips Are Movin' will be number one, but it will fall behind Uptown Funk quickly.
January 12, 201510 yr I really hope that I'm An Albatroz WON'T make the top 40. I don't need another Mr. Blobby/Gangnam Style. There are enough songs I can't stand around as it is.
January 12, 201510 yr I think Lips Are Movin' will be number one, but it will fall behind Uptown Funk quickly. So next week number one, then knocked off by Lips Are Movin, and then number one for three weeks before Love Me Like You Do knocks it off, probably for good.
January 12, 201510 yr I WISH @ AronChupa/Sheppard, I can't see the latter getting that high. The former could if support ramps up for it very quickly! I think both of them could be postponed again to be honest. I can definitely see AronChupa being big once it catches on. In regards to Sheppard, I still think it will be big but only after its done well in America. I can definitely see them postponing again. I actually can't believe how dead the schedule is for this year!
January 12, 201510 yr Unfortunately there is no 'too bloody long!' option. That is because it's an impossible option!
