Well, it's hardly the first time it's happened. I love that even at it's nadir it's still able to drive ridiculous headlines.

Does anybody still watch this?

The last good season was Alexandra vs Diana V! No wait, Cher Lloyd and moral winner Wagner season was good for all the wrong reasons.

Fix Factor is awful manipulates headlines to get people to vote for who the produce es want. Chris Maloney was winning until they pumped oot all those stories.

All y'all Spice fans should boycott it foe their Rita over Mel B fiasco.

Jesus CHRIST that kid who sang Adele was absolutely terrible. Like on a Jay James level! I had to mute it. He'll be in the live shows then :drama:

4th Power were epic though  Such power and sass and there are SO cute  Who cares if they've been trained? I'm pretty sure people who've studied music for example, and loads of them will have had singing lessons etc. I'd much rather have someone who's trained a bit and is as good as them compared to some of these "I only sing in my room lol xxx" types who are awful. They KILLED it, probably the best rendition of that song I've heard to date.

Loved Louisa too, I can see her maybe going far for sure <3 What a voice.

The show was quite good overall I thought, it 's obviously past its best but it's good Saturday night (or Sunday afternoon for me :P) entertainment. The song changing trope did get boring though, just let them sing what they want. It's especially irritating when someone isn't allowed to sing Whitney or Celine for example and yet the most overused song in XF history (Make You Feel My Love) is allowed every time :/ I really like Rita already too, she was quite refreshing. She was nice enough but also honest when she needed to be. I'll still need convincing over Grimmy though...

Oh I like how they asked them to change the songs actually! it was so refreshing to see Jennifer perform Shackles rather than Halo, it's good to see them encouraging variety. Make You Feel My Love is a bore each time though, that shouldn't have been let through :drama:

From what I saw last night, basically the first half, it was the best audition show I've seen in years and that's mostly down to Louis no longer being there really. He was just a huge waste of a space on the panel. It's also helped that they've dropped the TOWIE elements a lot more too and they're having a lot more fun with some slightly more original song choices even if some slipped through the net. That guy who sang Adele though must have been asked by producers to audition after the viral Jessie J video.

I don't like the idea of the auditionees being able to have dancers etc on stage though. The first audition should be to show that they can command the stage by themselves. The guy who sang Justin Bieber with all those dancers behind him surely wouldn't have got as many positive comments if the dancers weren't there. It was a pretty average performance if you take them away and suggested to me he had to hide behind them in order to stand out.

If they were making them change to encourage variety than great, but it was making them change because they didn't like/didn't want to hear a certain type of song that makes it awful. I agree that Shackles was a great choice for her, so tell her BEFORE she goes on stage. They obviously already KNOW given they have all the tracks set up and stuff.

Hmm but it IS the X Factor and as Bowie McCartney etc Have said guys like them would not Have got through on voice alone in these contesta and they're the biggest stars ever.

Yah Lui was teeerrible nd used that show to keep floggin that awful dead beige horse of a Shitlife banda.

I went to the auditions when he auditioned and it did sound slightly better in the arena, but he was incredibly boring. The crowd absolutely loved him though. And the judges and him and the longest conversation about his Jessie J cover (which conveniently wasn't shown on TV).

This is already shaping up to be a better series than the last three. The talent is looking very promising! 4th Power are definitely my favourites so far. It's refreshing to see XF actually embrace more original acts for a change. I feel 4th Power would absolutely nail 'Lady Marmalade'. As for that Tom Bleasby guy, he really needs to stop imitating Jessie J's over-singing. That was an excruciating performance to sit through.
I'm annoyed. Someone please tell the judges that it's supposed to be a SINGING competition. Olly's mate could sing, but not brilliantly, yet didn't get through yet the 60 year old woman on first couldn't sing, was like a novelty act, yet she had personality and so she went through. Couldn't tell a word the Filipino lasses were singing either! What was their song called?

You do realise that was completely staged? The big criticism of the X factor recently has been the same songs every year by Whitney and co. Then low and behold they tell the first good contestant to not sing Whitney (even going as far to have the first contestant naming 2 Whitney songs she wanted to do). This makes it seem like they are sick of the Whitney songs and having them year in year out wasn't their choice. Which is a bit much when they have Whitney week and ballad week and they pick the live song choices which are all these songs over and over. Just to ram the point home they did it twice, this time with Beyonce as the 'oh not one of her songs again'.

The only good thing about it is they seem to have cottoned on to people being bored to death of these songs so hopefully that will mean we will get less of them for the lives but as always with X factor it has to be done underhand and made to look like it is all the contestants fault.

I think Whitney songs must be quite hard to sing, to get the high notes so are quite a challenge actually.

I really enjoyed this episode! Really strong start I think. 4th Power were great, a bit TOO grunty and shouty in places, but they performed the crap out of it!

Tom Bleasby was technically good, but such a boring voice. I liked his Smule duet with Jessie J, but his voice irked me as he had no control over his voice whatsoever. This audition wasn't different either. Jennifer was very good too! Louisa was my favourite by quite a way (and I HATE that song in a "Typical X Factor Audition Song" sort of way - so over done now - which makes the whole judges changing song thing ridiculous). She oddly reminds me of Kelly Clarkson and it wouldn't surprise me if she went a similar route to the start of her career. Sang powerful and soulful songs all through the show, whilst showing versatility and has a very mediocre debut, but smashes it with stuff that really suit her voice and gives us the pop/rock album of the new generation! *.* (Fantasy world!)

Onto the judges. I have nothing negative to say this year tbh. They all worked brilliantly together and the chemistry between the four of them was great to see! Carolly were also a breath of fresh air.

So far, I'm pro-2015 XF! Looking forward to the rest of the season.

I honestly don't care if it's staged or not. I know not to take it at face value most of the time but I don't overthink it because it ruins my enjoyment of the show. Please tell me you're not gonna be constantly negative this entire series like last year ~

Good for you.

I'll have my opinions and if something is good I'll praise it, if it isn't I'll say so.

Great post. I also loved Nick miming to 'Sound of the Underground'. I've been wanting Louis gone for years and now that he's gone, the show is much better for it.

I think this year will see a Group or a Girl win. A series as rich in quality and versatility as the likes of 2008 and 2011 would be very welcome. The Overs have triumphed two years in a row and the Boys category has always been weak with certain contestants getting further than they should have done so either of those categories winning wouldn't make the show look fresh and revamped.

There'll be no Saturday XF on at least two Saturday evenings in September due to the rugby WC. Sundays continue as normal.

As I said yesterday I was slightly unconvinced by the vocal abilities of a couple of the 4th Power members, however this performance of 'Let It Go' on another TV show in Korea has now convinced me!
