There's still a lot of stigma with UK urban artists. When they were dominating in the early 2010s, people were writing them off as "chavs". At my sixth form, it was the norm to listen to Mumford and Sons or Adele and I was called a chav because I listen to lots of hip hop, R&B and grime :lol:

Hozier has overtaken Fergie, can possibly see him clinching the #2 from her this week.

It seems a near certainty now :( only 6k behind today (with 3 more days sales) & massive streaming advantage (+ weekend effect) all in Hozier's favour. Still a great result Fergie all things considered. The real test will be to see how long it sticks around.

I seem to be one of a select few who agree with this. so so overrated but with its airplay peaking now (#5 from last week's #13, could possibly climb even further too) it's to be expected that it's still doing so well

Fair enough if people don't like it for whatever reason but I completely fail to understand how 'Take Me To Church' can be described as 'dull' given its lyrics and the passion in its vocals.

'Take Me To Church' is still great and just so many leagues above 'L.A.LOVE (la la)', really hope it does pip Fergie to the #2 spot (I think it will pretty easily).

the lyrics are quite good but unfortunately his off-putting vocals and to a lesser extent the slow tempo ruin it for me.

I like both Take Me To Church and L.A.LOVE (la la) but I think I'd rather the former got to #2 this week, Fergie being #2 or #3 won't really matter in the grand scheme of things, but it would be phenomenal to see Take Me To Church gain yet another new peak this far into its chart run!

wouldn't it be slightly more impressive if he climbed to #2 next week though? and looking at the release schedule it seems very likely that he'll be #2, unless Ellie Goulding rush releases (which probably won't happen)

Hozier would probably get #2 next week if it doesn't this week anyway. I can't say I'm fond of it, but there are worse offenders.
