Ellen Thomas (Grace Olubunmi, Mercy's grandmother in the show previously and also the principal in the epic BBC3 comedy Coming Of Age) has joined the show as a new matriach who has "strong ties" to the show.

Ada Fox maybe? :o

I loved her as Grace! Such an underused character - her storyline competing against Dot was brilliant!

Ada Fox would be great though!

Do we know if Eastenders is doing anything for Comic Relief this year? 2013 and 2011 saw them show special scenes of Liam's gang storyline and Whitney's sexual exploitation but I don't think there's any current storylines appropriate for Comic Relief this year.

Once Comic Relief airs, that'll take Eastenders' cancelled 2015 episode slots up to 6 already. :drama: The w/c 9 March, there's no Monday episode, the normal Tuesday episode, one on Wednesday at 8:30pm and an hour long episode on Thursday from 8pm.

Ellen Thomas makes her debut as "Claudette" next Thursday in the hour-long episode.

Looks like she's not Ada Fox then. I wonder if she's linked to Vincent?

Does Patrick have any siblings? She could be related to him?
A few older characters are needed in the show so hopefully Ellen will be a good strong character. I would also like to see the addition of more elderly characters in the show. I will miss Stan terribly when he leaves as i really like his character. Dot needs a buddy of her own age too, i always enjoyed the Betty, Sandy and Pearl dynamic in Emmerdale, the Rita, Norris, Emily and Mary combo also works in Corrie so i would like to see that dynamic on EastEnders, i loved the Dot and Ethel years, they were a fantastic double act and would like to see more of that in the show.
I realised they already had a decent amount of older characters when the group were playing cards shortly before Patrick's stroke. But it's something I'd like to see a bit more as the older characters usually give a lot of comedy - particularly Stan, as you say.

Wait so they're bringing back the same actress to play a different character???  Why not just have Grace come back??

Because Grace wouldn't be involved with the same characters. They cast for the character, not the actress.

"This is what I call cat burglary"

best line ever ^_^

Kat: 'it's called Cat-burglary'

Kim: *iconic laugh* 'I don't get it'

crying.

I have to say, some of the acting was appalling in today's episode.
I really don't get the fuss with Kim. She's not terrible or anything but she's not that great...

:kink:

Kim was actually the only good thing about today's episode. The Lee/Whitney scenes are dire (not Danny :smoke: ), Linda and Kat were ok but Shirley was awful. I didn't see the point of her being in the episode.

Yeah Shirley being in it was a bit pointless :drama: The other three at least made revelations and opened up more than they do to most people, she just kind of sat and scowled for five minutes then pissed off.

I found Shirley really funny! Just seeing her tucking into her kebab and staring at Kim when she was speaking; just my sort of humour when nothing even needs to be said.

I could see why people would have found tonight's episode boring but I enjoyed it - I love episodes where they hark back to previous storylines and the characters share personal thoughts and feelings. I wasn't fussed about Whitney and Lee's scenes but the episode needed to balance things out a bit.

Thats what Shirley does though! hates on everything.

Yeah but it usually serves a purpose, I just feel like it didn't today :P

Cause Kat ate half her kebab. Shirley don't share food
