February 1, 20187 yr The ITV show was unbelievably awful. Their attempt to have a show at 7:00 was brave, but a total failure. The fact that the one-hour show was actually only about 45 minutes long because of the adverts was only one of the problems. They had a longer version late on Saturday night but that was also terrible.
February 2, 20187 yr It was 2001-04 but the 7.00 showing was dropped in the first season. That's how bad it was.
February 4, 20187 yr Author Strong rumours that BT Sport could pull out of showing live Premier League matches in the latest round of bidding for the rights.
February 14, 20187 yr Author Strong rumours that BT Sport could pull out of showing live Premier League matches in the latest round of bidding for the rights. Well that was a lot of crap as: Premier League 2019/2022 Rights Package A: 32 matches on Saturdays at 12:30 BT Package B: 32 matches on Saturdays at 17:30 Sky Package C: 24 matches on Sundays at 14:00 and eight matches on Saturdays at 19:45 Sky Package D : 32 matches on Sundays at 16:30 Sky Package E: 24 matches on Mondays at 20:00 or Fridays at 19:30/20:00 and eight matches on Sundays at 14:00 Sky Package F: 20 matches from one Bank Holiday and one midweek fixture programme To be decided Package G: 20 matches from two midweek fixture programmes To be decided
February 15, 20187 yr Author I think these are all up for grabs this year. European Tour Golf (inc Ryder cup) - expires Dec 2018 Moto GP - expires Dec 2018 SFA (Scottish Cup & Scotland friendlies) - expires June 2018 Wales home rugby internationals (non 6 nations) - expires Dec 2018 Ireland home rugby internationals (non 6 nations) - deal expired French Open Tennis - expires after 2018 event USPGA Championship Golf - no deal in place La Liga - expires Jun 2018 Pro 14 Rugby - expires Jun 2018 Serie A - expires Jun 2018 Lique 1 - expires Jun 2018
May 3, 20187 yr The rights for La Liga have been bought by Eleven Sports, owned by the owner of Leeds United. Now all they need to do is work out how they are going to broadcast in the UK.
May 5, 20187 yr Quest have signed a deal to show Football League highlights for four years from next season. They are a free-to-air channel although I suspect a lot of people have never watched any of their programmes. The Football League a presumably more interested in money than in getting an audience.
May 6, 20187 yr Author Quest have shown some sport such as British Superbikes coverage when there has been a clash with the main channel, Eurosport. They have also shown the afternoon sessions and the whole of the final snooker tournaments such as the Home Nations Series and recently the China Open since 2016.
May 6, 20187 yr Author It is Survival Saturday for EFL and Channel 5 has scheduled Goal Rush at 11pm at the same time as MOTD. The Championship's Survival Sunday is on around midnight. They have not scheduled neither earlier on 5Spike. So Channel 5 consider that the pinnacle of EFL is not popular enough to be given prime time on the Channel 5 network.
May 17, 20187 yr Author Wales' rugby Summer Test matches against South Africa and the two games against Argentina will be shown live on Channel 4 next month, the Welsh Rugby Union have confirmed.
June 7, 20187 yr Author So now, if you want to see every PL game from 2019 you'll have to pay 3 subscription fees instead of 2 with Amazon winning a package of 20 games.
June 7, 20187 yr The Amazon games are two blocks of ten - one set of Bank Holiday fixtures and one set of midweek fixtures. I would have thought it would make sense for them to make each set of games available for a one-off fee. It's still quite an odd decision by Amazon. Showing just two sets of fixtures and nothing else (no highlights etc.) seems a bit weird.
June 7, 20187 yr Feels like they are testing the water to me. If it goes well then I think they’ll be quite aggressive in their pursuit next time
July 13, 20187 yr Author BT Sport have lost the live TV rights to Serie A matches in the UK and Ireland after Eleven Sports secured an exclusive three-year deal. Eleven Sport are also in talks with other distribution platforms to widen availability, which means they could sub-license some games to other broadcasters.
August 8, 20186 yr Author Interesting report here: https://www.thecheckeredflag.co.uk/2018/08/...l-4-uk-tv-deal/
August 8, 20186 yr BT Sport have lost the live TV rights to Serie A matches in the UK and Ireland after Eleven Sports secured an exclusive three-year deal. Eleven Sport are also in talks with other distribution platforms to widen availability, which means they could sub-license some games to other broadcasters. It looks like no deals with Virgin, Sky etc. will be in place for the state of the season. So, enjoy watching the football on your phone or laptop.
