I used to love Ne-Yo until he released generic rubbish like Beautiful Monster, Let Me Love You and Coming With You :(.

My favourites from him are Sexy Love, Because Of You, Do You and Mad .

2006-07 Ne-Yo is essential imo, stellar example of the Stargate R&B sound of the time. I kinda stopped caring after he went dance-pop but I think he's released a few good tracks since ("Closer", "Let Me Love You").

It's a shame that Ne-Yo and Usher have diverted from their sound so much really. The 'dance-R&B' only really works for a song or two before it becomes extremely boring, though in their defence R&B doesn't have a place in the charts anymore.

Surprised Ne-Yo didn't promote "She Knows (feat. Juicy J)" though, it's essentially another "Dark Horse"; but I think it would've done pretty well.

Bakermat :snif: ~ galling to see it usurped by the pedestrian offerings of Ne-Yo and Charlie XCX!

I agree, love the fact that DJ Fresh is at 2 but I'm gutted Bakermat isn't top 10 yet that awful Chris Brown track is top 5 and Ne-Yo's new single are charting higher

I actually don't mind the Charli XCX track, I'd rather that be top 10 then the other tracks I've mentioned but we can't have everything I guess!

She Knows is the Ne-Yo smash that never was :(

Of course, R&B has a place in the charts, what a misguided assumption

The dance-R&B hybrid still produces good songs. In defence of Usher 'Good Kisser' and 'I Don't Mind' are pretty much pure R&B

I'm not usually a fan of the dance-pop offerings by R&B acts but I have a bit of a soft spot for Ne-Yo, I really like both 'Let Me Love You (Until You Learn To Love Yourself)' and 'Coming With You' (though the latter still just sounds more like an Olly Murs song than a generic dance-pop song to me :kink:)

Good that DJ Fresh has managed to get to #2 on iTunes, I expect he'll still end up at #3 for the week though due to 'Uptown Funk' continuing to dominate streaming.

Its not as if all the R&B artists are collobarting with David Guetta/Calvin Harris like 2009-12

That was when they were really producing dance-pop songs; Usher, Ne-Yo and Chris Brown in particular.

"Coming With You" is fine, but I really think Ne-Yo's international team dropped the ball when the bypassed "She Knows". That's already amassing to be a huge smash in the US!

At least it'll match "Dibby Dibby Sound"'s peak :)

X Factor series 10 finally getting a "hit" that isn't Skyscraper :heehee:

I was actually unsure how Luke was going to do, but it's good to see it in the top 200.

 142. now :D

I was pretty certain he'd have some level of success, mainly a decent selling album, but singles-wise it wasn't really very clear. Hole In My Heart is very accessible though, so radio better jump on board and make it the smash it needs to be
I can't see Luke getting much support. Hate to be negative but I can't see him doing much beyond his probably limited fanbase.

Edited by Joey XCX.

I'm sure i've seen tweets of support from Capital - maybe that's due to him supporting the Vamps on tour etc.

ANyway  131 now :D

Anyway  117 now :D
